  1. Does Will Davis fit anywhere in the cornerback conversation?
  2. License suspension for driving violations varies by State. In Arizona, it is for a total of 8 points in a 12 month period. That could be due to four speeding tickets at 2 points each or one charge of reckless/dangerous driving which carries 8 points with it until you go to the driving course.
  3. Sometimes you do not realize the impact of an injury until you play. When I was younger, I knew how much ground I could cover in the outfield to get to a ball. As I got older, I still knew how much ground I used to be able to cover but was not quite as fast as I had been. Until I realized that and adjusted to it, there was a transition period.
  4. Belated Christmas gift.
  5. Matthews also played great on special teams with downing punts and a great tackle on Antonio Brown. His TD catch was what our expectations were for Marlon Brown before the season began.
  6. So the lopsided Giants-Vikings game was considered more interesting. Sorry NBC. Despite the large number of terrible towels, the fans fueled this game from the first Pittsburgh snap on. The decibel meter barely hit 100 during the Seattle game, It got to about 104 against Kansas City. It was well over 110 yesterday. When you figure that each i unit decibel increase is 10 times the one below it, it means that we were thousands of times louder yesterday.
  7. And we didn't get a call of roughness on the opening drive where Aiken took a hit to the head that knocked his helmet off. I guess he shouldn't wear his helmet so loosely on those "legal" hits.
  8. The way this team has played week in and week out has made this season one well worth watching regardless of the record.
  9. Coach Harbaugh asked the fans to be loud on Sunday. When the decibel meter is put on the scoreboard, we have been woefully lacking this year compared to previous years. We need to show Seattle that there are other stadia with a 12th man besides their record setting one. Their fans hit 137.6 decibels. We have struggled to get much beyond 110 decibels this year.
  10. If you look at the list of prohibited substances under the PED heading, it includes things that are found in every over the counter cold remedy. Thus the question is whether he knew or didn't know that what he took was on the extensive list of banned substances.
  11. Another well done article.
  12. As always Joe is a class act!
  13. While we have been on the short end too often, every game this season has been very watchable. We have not had to listen to the boo birds that often show up at the stadium (think first half of last year's Browns game). That is because this team has played its heart out every week. True fans know that and appreciate it greatly. I feel that my season ticket money this year has been well spent.
  14. Success in the NFL depends upon playing like a team. The Ravens are still doing that. Success has eluded them but not because they are not trying. We only need to look a short distance up I-95 to see what happens when a coach like Chip Kelly emphasizes the system rather then the team. By denigrating the players in favor of the system, they do not perceive themselves as a team and do not play like one.
  15. It is tough to maintain an edge in the NFL. We always talk about trap games for the better teams. Maintaining composure in the face of adversity goes a long way toward minimizing those natural letdowns that occur over the course of a season. It is a way of building for future seasons.
  16. Before the season everyone was asking the question if Joe would finally go over 4000 yards passing. It looks like that will happen this year for the first time. I hope all those people are now happy.
  17. He is thinking about family and being with them. I am a pediatrician and see far too many fathers who miss out on significant portions of their kids' lives. Ray wanted to be with his growing sons and it sounds like Steve Smith is following that same trajectory. I used to work for a boss in the Air Force who would say: "One of these days you will retire and your family will still be there unless you screw it up first".
  18. Teams respond to crowd noise. That has been a strength in Baltimore in the past. However, the number of empty seats at the Cincinnati game and the mediocre response during the Cleveland game (both before we were 1-6) suggests that perhaps there are issues in that area as well as on the field.
  19. Flacco is currently on a pace for 4275 passing yards. His completion percentage is the highest it has been since 2010. His yards per throw is less than half a yard lower than his career average. While there have been some bad plays, overall he is not statistically a lot different than he has been in the past.
  20. There was an article about the Seahawks earlier this week. It indicated that they were 2-4 but since most of their losses have been close, no one need worry about them. That is clearly a glass half full mentality. Let's hope we do as well in next week's prime time game as we did in the last one at Pittsburgh.
  21. Now we get Carson Palmer and Phillip Rivers the next two weeks.
  22. Next man up is fine since it is a team game. However, next group of men up is a different story. Dallas hasn't won a game since it lost Romo and Bryant. There are finite impacts of injuries. Some positions like QB usually result in a significant problem. Otherwise as numbers pile up, they become additive. Without Dumervill as a pass rusher and three cornerbacks missing, it allows the opposing quarterback the time he needs to throw and the receivers the opportunity to get wide open.
  23. So we give up a 100 yard rusher and win the game. Joe throws for over 350 yards and we lose both games. There is only one stat that counts and it is the W.
  24. I have had fractured ribs twice. Same recovery both times. Maximum pain at the 7 - 10 day point. 6 - 8 weeks of gradually disappearing pain.
  25. In both Oakland and against the Bengals, we would not have been in a position for Joe to win the game late if he hadn't gotten us to that position to begin with.
