I want is for us to get up on the line on third downs like every other defense trying to make a stop. I want us to get closer than 15 yards off the line when we are going to blitz. Blitzing is used to either make the qb get rid of the ball early or to get a sack. When you force a qb to throw early but you leave everyone wide open early in the play every time, there is no point in blitzing. The reason we don't get off the field on 3rd and long or late in the games is because we don't cover aggressively. We don't make them beat us with good throws. We just let them have it if they are going for it. I've never seen a team leave people more uncovered than this team. Every throw, there will be about 3 ravens defenders standing next to each other 10 or more yards from the receiver making the catch.
The Patriots figured it out last year when they didn't run the ball a single time in the second half. It boggles my mind why every team doesn't play a 2 minute offense against our D the entire game. We can't stop it. We haven't been able to stop it for years.
These games so far have been exactly like 2013. We only win if something ridiculous happens, or the other team drops 2 passes on 3rd and 4th down to end the game.
Last year we had an offense who could bail us out. This year we don't. This year, on 4th and 5 we will go for a 1 yard crossing route to a covered TE. What a soft team this is. Frustrates the heck out of me.
We deserved that for playing for a field goal in the first place. When you play to not lose, you end up losing in the end. So tired of 3 yard outs to covered TEs on 3rd and 7.
Hey, we beat the Steelers didn't we? We may not win another game for weeks, but the silver lining is we'll know our weak links and purge them for next season and for the first time in a long time, we'll be getting a high draft pick. Now what we do with it, only time will tell, but at least it is time to rebuild the Ravens in every department - front office personnel, coaching and player personnel. Just purge and replenish the untalented, weak and old and get going Ravens.
The Steelers beat the Steelers
"The coaches are doing a good job." Clearly
Well, I guess we will have to wait until the 4pm press conference after we blow a 4th quarter lead next week to see if they fire him.
I think we should attempt to trade steve smith to a winning team at this point so he can close out his career on a team that isn't garbage. I feel so bad for him.
I think we need to fire him today (monday) and see what we have in house for the rest of the season. If somehow we turn into a defensive powerhouse, we can hire whoever we picked in house. If not, we find a good DC with the "Play like a Raven" mentality in the offseason. Tired of the "play like a duck" mentality. At this point, there is no reason to wait. Our season is more or less over with how we are currently playing. Make the change.
The Pee Pees
what do you not agree with lol?
Daryl is still playing well.
I guess the editor's aren't allowed to say anything about Pees.
So my view of the 2015 ravens including today... daryl smith i think is wearing down and is losing his athleticism giving ground to running backs giving himself terrible tackling angles... cj was i think a little outmatched today wont hold it against him... will just forgot how to play today i wont hold it against him... kendrick has been the worst player on this defense as far as im concerned through the first 5 weeks but i mean so was stew last year... and ever since the middle of last year he has been one of the best safeties in football... jimmy just had 2 bad games with bad playcalling... lardarius webb has really stepped up this year but you guys still hate him... i like will davis but i loved rashaan after the jacksonville game last year now look at him... Brandon and marshall get mvp for there respective sides of the ball... marc has actually found a way to make joe look worse than last season... justin and the ground game has gotten it together... true football fans that know what is going on will know why marlon is in the slot and in the game so often... it because he is one of the best blocking wide recievers in the game... hes not in the game all the time but when he does he blocks and does a good job at the 3 or 4 routes that is called for him joe just doesnt look to him all the time... like joe normally does will not go through a progression will stare down one reciever and will through it no matter what the coverage is... can be stone like in the pocket and wont move his feet causing him to feel pressure and be scared the rest of the way in the game... tucker coulda really helped us if he didnt miss a field goal... this browns team actually is not a bad football team and mccown is a pretty good qb if he is protected and thats the key... i think though that this will be a season when the teams we play just outmatch us to be honest i say its a 6-10 season weve been spoiled for too long... i think we can deal with one off season
Agree with almost all of this.
Did we get a WR TD? Thought it was all Forsett and Flacco running.
anyway 44 is the new 30
30 points is nothing unless you have real defense. We do not.
You have to throw to a WR to get the WR a TD. We don't do plays with wide receivers. All the plays a designed to be 2 yard throws to a RB, a FB, or a TE.
On top of everything, we should be 0-5.
To be fair. He's the only QB who's expected to win with late round picks, undrafted people, journeymen, and people past their prime. Torrey, Boldin, and Maxx were the only exceptions, but spread across 8 years is tough. Also Perriman has literally not played but that's no one's fault; just terrible luck.
Plus a new coordinator every year, all of which have been terrible except 1. And it showed big time with that 1.
5th verse, same as the first.
Defense: Dean must have pictures. Just what will it take to get this guy fired. We did the same broken things over and over again.
Offense: Put up 30 points, but if this is last year, we never take our foot off the pedal the whole game and we bail our defense out. This offense, similar to our old Cam Cameron offense, does not believe in throwing in the middle of the field. Pass block was terrible, so that didn't help. We pretty much start every 1st down by losing 3 yards, throwing a 0-1 yard out on second down, draw on third down because it's third and long. Trestman does not believe in throwing for first downs. He only throws underneath and hope we run to the first down. Forsett ran well....and then got hurt. We learned last year that a better OC can make everyone on the team look better. This year we are once again learning that an OC can make everyone look worse.
We really could have used that field goal. I blame this more on Trestman, though. We have a chance to try and get another td, but he plays for the field goal when we are already well in field goal range. 3rd and 7 and we do a 3 yard out...That is going to be all season unfortunately, so have fun being very frustrated everyone.
Top 3 worst football games I have ever watched. I said it last week, and I will say it this week. Trestman is not the guy. 1st and 10, try to get 3 yards. 2nd and 7, try to get 3 yards. 3rd and 4, try to get 3 yards. 4th and 1, go for a half yard out. This is the most frustrating and embarrassing offense. It is Cam Cameron all over again. Once throwing 3 yard plays to Steve Smith stops working, you have nothing. We threw 2 passes the entire game for more than 4 yards until the last 2 minutes of regulation. One of those was a touchdown.
We had no business winning this game. The defense was meh against a backup on a short week. The stops we did make were either luck, or terrible playcalling by the Steelers. That doesn't work against any other team but the Steelers. The equally dysfunctional team.
Terrible.
I just have nothing good to say about this game. I don't wan't to be angry after every game this year. But it looks like that's how it is going to be. So darned frustrating.
This all feels like when out offense sucked and everyone was like, it isn't the coordinator, the players just aren't executing! Well guess what, it was the coordinator, just as it is the coordinator this time. Dean has been squandering talent for too long. Please, for the love of god, find somebody else. Preferably someone who doesn't scheme like a kittycat.
Offense also looked Cam Cameron-like today. Lots of 3 yard passes on like 3rd and 7. 4 yard passes to a covered running back on first and 25. The only reason anything worked was because Steve Smith is amazing (same as last game.) It's the players aren't executing part of the Cam Cameron offense. Put our players in terrible situations and hope they make a ridiculous play. When they don't, it's bad execution. When they do, it's good execution. Luckily we have a guy that seems to do the impossible every play. I see it falling apart pretty soon if it doesn't change.
Can we all finally agree that Pees needs to go?
I can understand what your saying. He threw it before the defender lost smith but it was still to much to the sideline. He had to make that throw
He made the throw, it was caught, Smith just didn't get his foot down. Watch the replay. That is where you are supposed to throw the ball on that play. Maybe it isn't a good play, but that is the spot the ball is supposed to go.
WHAT!>>!>!>!>?!??!?!?!?
talk about the dumbest post of all time
Please go watch the play again. Or learn how football works. Smith was in position to get his other foot down and stepped instead of dragging his foot.
That's a little harsh. The chance of the Ravens scoring a TD with 24 seconds and 1 TO was practically nil. Flacco definitely deserves the blame for all of his poor throws though, especially that last one to SS in the endzone.
Last throw to Sr in the endzone was a perfect throw. He had no way of knowing that the defender was going to get picked that much as he through the ball. That is 100% on Steve Smith. Perfect throw where nobody but the receiver can make the catch.
Fire Dean Pees today please. Give us a chance at not being the worst defense for the rest of the season. Played up at the line for the 2 drives before, 2 stops. Last drive, everyone play off and zone. Who the heck plays zone from within their own 10 yard line. Guy just runs, steps out of the zone, receives ball, td to win the game. This is just terrible. All the players for a top 3 defense and we get the soft garbage that gives up 37 points to the Raiders. Did none of the things that worked last week. Such a theme with Pees. Oh this is working, let's not do that. At this point, I think he is doing it on purpose. Last year, "oh, our secondary is bad because of injuries." This year, our secondary is bad because of what? Make teams beat us, for the love of god. Don't just give it to them.
Best game Dean Pees has ever called. Glad to see it. O line looked not good. Flashbacks to 2013. SSS makes that catch or Flacco gives that last throw another half a foot of air and everyone on this board is singing a different tune. I wasn't super upset after this game just because it looks like defense is back in Baltimore. Hoping it isn't a fluke.

Things to look for. Can our offense move the ball? Can your defense stop the other team from moving the ball?
