  1. Player of the day was Wright. What a game. Great pursuit to the ball. Looked fast. Defense played pretty well minus the non existent pass rush after we took the lead. Offense looked like "Here we go again" garbage. I don't know how many times you have to do a 0 yard out before you realize it isn't going to work as your number one go to play. Every time we have a 3rd and 4th down play, we do a play under the first down marker. It is like watching an insane person make the same mistakes over and over with Trestman. Meanwhile he is making me look insane yelling at the TV but that is another story. I think he has a rule where he is only allowed to use the middle of the field less that 5 times a game. Refs seemed to continue their trend of making up new rules to stop Rex Ryan teams. I felt bad for Tyrod all last year and I would have felt bad for him again this game if it wasn't against the Ravens. He plays well and every time it looks like his team has turned the momentum, I see a flag for calls I didn't even know existed. Bailed us out multiple times and tried their best to give us points.
  2. Release our best defensive player....great
  3. First time ever that I am not excited at all as to what comes next for this team. They refuse to fix any problems and it's just depressing.
  4. We played much more man coverage those last two games. We went back to the bend and break defense today. Luckily it was the Browns and they found a way to lose.
  5. Good: Special Teams is still the only thing going for this team. Wright has been great the last 3 games. Didn't see that coming. Bad as usual: Trestman and Pees were made for each other. Never seen coaches have there players playing so scared in my life. We have them in a third and 17 situation in 4 down territory and we play 15 yards off. Give up 13 yards to make a manageable 4th down. Next drive, we prove that we are a good defense when we play up at the line. Got beat all game playing off. Played great up at the line. Story of Dean Pees as a DC. Trestman is a terrible play caller. The few plays to the middle of the field worked again. The quick outs were still just wasted extra dangerous for no reason plays. Ugly: Schaub. Started right where he left off. None of his throws that were caught were on target. His picks were just like "what are you doing?"
  6. I hate his play calling. I can't stand OCs that are afraid of the middle of the field and that is exactly what Trestman is. Those 2 yard outs ARE the primary look, unless Joe is snapping the ball and immediately skipping all other routes. They are designed quick outs. When Steve Smith wasn't injured, we still threw that same pass to him every other play. He was the primary receiver on all of those plays too. Cam Cameron did this exact same thing as well. Wouldn't use the middle of the field. Only did outs and 4 yard timing routes. Those plays are great when you keep a defense honest in the middle. When other teams use those quick outs once or twice a game, they work great. Any team that runs them like we do, has the same problem. Snap the ball, immediately throw to the out pattern, -3 to 2 yard gain/loss. We lose yards on first down more than any other team I have ever seen. It looks like an absolutely frustrating offense to play for. The other thing is that Flacco's strength is throwing confident darts in the middle of the field. You had the guy that could make those throws all season, and you never utilize it. We ran the same plays when we had the guys as we do now. It isn't an injury thing, it is just a sucky scheme. Lots of risk, no reward. Repeating outs is the best way to create a pick 6. I don't see it as any surprise that Joe looked like Jay Cutler all year. I had never seen Joe throw spite passes until this year. Our run blocking looks like 2013. Amazing how we turned it around in that respect last year with a decent OC and then immediately regressed back to terrible this year. Unfortunately, we are stuck with him next year because Joe got hurt. He won't be ready in time to work with a new OC. Steve Smith was making up for a lot of the playcalling by breaking 13 tackles a play, but ever since he got hurt, it just isn't working.
  7. WE WON A GAME....OR DIDN'T LOSE...OR LOST! I don't know. Mark Trestman is terrible. At one point we ran the exact same 2 yard out three times in a row for a three and out. We ran that same play about 60% of all our plays. He is worse than Cam Cameron and it won't matter what players you have, terrible plays are terrible plays. He just doesn't believe in using the middle of the field, yet the 3-4 times we did use it, we gained big chunks, It is Joe's strong suite. Once again, Joe looks like Cutler under Trestman. Our line looks like it did in 2013. Can't block a 4 man rush the whole game. Dean Pees proves that we have the players when we abandon the "bend, don't break" style of defense. We played lots man close to the line, which resulted in tons of 3 and outs instead of prolonged drives. When we did drop back a few times, we got beat and looked confused. That td later in the game was a direct result of dropping back into off zone and everyone on defense not knowing their job. We had 3 people covering one guy on one side of the field, with nobody covering anyone on the other side. This team is poorly coached all around. Players are making tons of mistakes, they are undisciplined, and they are playing like they don't care if they get a penalty much of the time. Nobody knows their job. Nobody understands situational football. Tucker is not going to get his big contract playing like he has. But, on a bad team, everyone plays bad. Refs were awful all game. They looked just as confused as our players in a zone scheme. Joe and Justin out for the year.
  8. I also watched the defense get a facemask penalty and the offense turning the ball over 3 times last game. Special teams guy makes 2 mistakes all year and you cut him. He had been returning extremely successfully before that. Everyone else making mistakes every game and they are fine. At the end of the day, when you have a team playing bad, everyone ends up playing bad. We should also cut tucker since he keeps missing field goals the last few games with your logic.
  9. Ravens special teams top 5 in everything. Cuts punt/kick returner.
  10. I really don't like the Ross cut. We didn't have an answer at return. Then we did. Now we don't again.
  11. Lots of press coverage worked well. Unfortunately, we still dropped back into off coverage on third down and long. The only third and longs we stopped were due to their QB missing wide open uncovered receivers or receivers dropping the ball. Lots of mistakes by the other team made our third down woes not look as bad as they have in the past. At least our first and second down woes were a bit better due to the press coverage our players are actually good/decent at. Even Webb's pick would have been a wide open reception if the pass was thrown on time. It was so late that the off coverage was able to get back to the receiver. Off coverage should be played if you want to jump a route, not to protect against long situations. And you don't blitz both your safeties when in a defense designed for jumping routes. I've seen us do that multiple times this year. Plus it makes us scared to jump routes because we have no help if it's a double move.
  12. My favorite is when the Browns kicked a field goal that went through, hit the back bar and came back out. They called it no good, everyone left the field. Reviewed it, called it good, brought everyone back on the field, and we lost in overtime.
  13. Defense looked great in press coverage much of the game. Still gave up some big plays on third down due to playing 13 yards off the line. A lot of other third down plays were only stopped because Jacksonville made mistakes. Offense looks just like the Trestman Bears. Dubbing it the All risk, low reward offense. You can't run the same roll out 0 yard pass 10 times every game. Please stop. Flacco made lots of good plays and some really bad plays. Again, looks just like Jay Cutler this year which is telling. Muffed punt.... Kendrick Lewis What the heck?
  14. Still many headscratcher play calls on both offense and defense but we pulled it out in the end. Cbs are still completely terrible in off coverage and pretty ok up at the line. We had no real answer to stopping RB and TE passes to the middle of the field again. Wide open all day. Loved how we played defense when we had them deep in their own territory. Almost reminded me of that scary Ravens D we used to know and love. Everyone was fired up. Everyone was aggressive. Everyone did their job while maintaining that intensity. We need to find a center quick. It was scary every snap. And to Steve Smith, it was a stellar career. You deserve that HoF jacket.
  15. Probably because our pass game is essentially a run game. They all go to someone who is either behind the LoS or 1 yard past it. We only throw passes more than 7 yards through the air maybe 5 times a game.
  16. Same as every other week. 1- Trestman is not the guy. So many dumb play calls again. We get out of the huddle every play with less than 10 seconds on the play clock. We once again didn't spike the ball in the 2 minute drill at the end of the game only to do a busted play resulting in a incompletion anyway. We even had a play where Flacco rolls out to his right and every single receiving route ran to the left. 1 minute drill in the first half was head scratching again. 2- We learned again that are cornerbacks play well when they play up at the line (minus Wright, more on that) and we are absolutely terrible at playing off coverage. They beat us on off coverage every time. What else is new. 3- We learned again that Wright is terrible. He was terrible last week. He was not as terrible but still terrible this week. He shouldn't be out there. He is going to get beat deep whether he plays off or up or bump and run. I think it may be time to hit the reset button. This is the most poorly managed team I've seen in a long time. No logic in any of the offensive or defensive coaching. The coaches have lost the players. Time to make the moves.
  17. The difference between this year and last is the teams we are playing against and the offense no longer finishing games. This is just like 2013 where we were in close games every time and it was a tossup whether we would win or not. We were lucky to go 8 and 8 that year. This year we aren't getting so lucky. This defense has fallen apart when opposing teams open up their passing game since Dean has been here. Even the year we won the superbowl we almost fell apart at the end. We could stop nothing. Last year, at the end of games, we just had to keep matching scores with other teams near the end. We weren't able to do it against the patriots. We would also come out strong offensively last year.
  18. He was also playing 10 yards off the line of scrimmage when he got burnt on the deep ball which is the exact opposite of what people were asking for. When you play that far off, you have to guess the route. You are planted waiting instead of moving with your guy. You are forced to make a decision of whether you should try and jump the 10 yard route or turn your hips and guess deep pass. Wright tried to play the out and got beat on the double move. It has happened in this defense so many time now when playing off. Pees says he puts the players back there to protect the deep route and yet every time we have them off and the other team runs a deep route, they are wide open. Nobody was asking for single man coverage only. Everyone was asking for don't play off 10-15 yards off every play. Once we started playing up in the second half, we started causing 3 and outs which we haven't done all season playing off. Wright just happened to fall down in coverage on the second TD. Everyone else on the field was well covered. Even if you have your guys play 3-5 yards off, it makes it much easier on the decision making. If they are trying to beat you deep, their move is typically deeper than 5 yards, which means you are already on them when they are making a move. Your job is simple at that point. Just stick with your man. No guessing. Nobody was asking that we bring both safeties up on each play either.
  19. I hate that Pees hides up in a box. When the Head Coach has to coach up the new defensive player on the sideline after a play, there is something wrong. That should be Dean either on his butt or trying to build him up for the next play. That made me angry today.
  20. "Ravens not afraid to change things up again"
  21. Yeah, it is kind of sad that that feeling is gone now. What does still get me a bit upset is I feel bad for the players that are really trying their best in a system built to fail. It makes them look worse than they are. It is demoralizing for them. I also feel bad for Steve Smith because he isn't going to get the Ray Lewis ending.
  22. While it wasn't as bad later in the game today, his play calling all year has been so head scratching. The amount of times where Joe's first look on a 3rd and 7 is a three yard out is insane. Also, Joe has turned into Jay Cutler under him.
  23. 3 TD passes. 2 by Steve Smith and 1 on that wheel route to Buck Allen (at least I think it was buck allan). 2 of them were on the same drive though.
  24. All the signs to a poorly coached team that last drive. Waste about 20 seconds instead of clocking the ball to ruin the drive. Misuse of timeouts early in the half. Players not understanding the situation. At this point, we have become the Browns. Even the good players look bad. Our probowl kicker can't kick. Steve Smith can't catch. Joe threw maybe the worst throw of his career. We dropped 3 TD passes. Even our TD pass to Aiken was caught by the wrong guy. We almost defended our own TD throw. The defense looked really good when playing up at the line minus the new guy falling down and being terrible all game in general. Would have much rather had Asa out there. First half, they played off coverage up until the last few plays of their final drive. They gave up 225 passing yards that half. Second half was lots of up at the line with much better results, especially on third down. That flag near the end on Jimmy was pretty garbage. They called nothing all game where there was plenty of contact, and then they called that at the absolute worst time on a play that was very ticky tack. Also, Joe has just looked uncomfortable all season. He didn't look like this last year. He seems unsure what to do. He seems frustrated. That last int was such a Cutler spite throw that it makes me wonder.
