Thats the problem, no one on the coaching staff appears to have a lot of play calling experiance. At seasons end there has to be a change IMO if this keeps up

Didn't stop them in 2012 when they gave Caldwell the playbook. Caldwell had never been an OC prior to the 2012 playoffs. Marty Morhinweg (current QB coach) was an OC in the past. He's had some success and some failure.

Agreed.  Steelers scheme well and seem to get Coates open down the field.  Plus it doesn't hurt when you have a guy like Antonio Brown and Bell threatening defenses every down.

Todd Haley is a good OC and has a good relationship with Rothlisberger (Idk Flacco's relationship with Trestman). Even without Bell, their offense generally performs. They have some stinkers (see Eagles game) but it its far and few between. Unlike us, in which we're always laying stinkers.

cam had a good offense for us....but his play selection/timing was bad. we kept the same plays once we fired him, lol!!!

True also Cam was too committed to running the ball sometimes which would put the offense in third and long often. He also ran an Air Coryell type system but did not have the players who fit into it (you generally need big, fast receivers). It worked some time but wasn't ideal. He honestly might perform better with our current players because he wouldn't abandon the run when it was working and we do have faster (not necessarily bigger) receivers.

We literally looked at our rushing offense, that was doing really well in the game, and decided "Hey, lets just pass on every play."

Then in the second half on one of the FIVE TOTAL RUSH PLAYS West has a great carry.  What does Trestman do next?  Pulls West out and puts in Buck Allen, who hadn't been getting good yardage all day.

Its truly mind-blowing.  Its not our personnel, its our playcalling.

This probably pisses me off the most. He has no grasp on how to put the team in the best position to win. Pass-blocking has been poor so lets keep passing. Run game is productive so let's keep passing. God, the Chicago fans were right.

I am 90% on 'fire trestman' wagon, the other 10% there because the o-line has been crap. Also, Harbaugh is just a bad coach

You can take pressure off of the o-line when they aren't pass blocking the entire time. The vast majority of teams can't be this unbalanced and have a productive offense, unless you have pro bowlers on the o-line like Brady's o-line through the years, Peyton's o-line in Indy, and probably the current Cowboys o-line.

It's not that, our good OCs get poached. Caldwell to the Lions, then Elway just cause he hates Baltimore screwed us by taking Kubiak. Then the other teams snatch up the good ones leaving little for us.

Idk if I would call Caldwell a good OC. His only experience as OC was the super bowl run and 2013. In 2013, I would say the piss poor o-line made it impossible to do anything. Throughout our history it has been lack of good players on offense, and probably not good enough coaching. This year, we have the players and the coaching is horrendous.

  7. Change the fire Pees thread, to fire Trestman. These losses and near losses are on him. RUN THE BALL!!!! Running the ball takes pressure off the pass blocking, wears down the d-line, opens up play-action. Trestman is a moron and should go back to the CFL.

Also nice job on the fake FG Harbaugh. Make JT attempt his 1st pass in windy conditions. The coaching has failed this team.

I really would like for us to find an elite option at WR. It's always the missing element to our offense. I would give us a lot for one. Just wish we were aggressive on Dez when we had the chance. Steve Smith is close to that but he's not here.

Wouldn't matter. We have good enough players to perform but the offense isn't conducive for their skillsets.

I do think Trestman is already on the hot seat .

Unlikely but he should be. The lack of deep passing game and an unbalanced approach to the run/pass should make Harbaugh mad but idk. The lack of deep passing game could be blamed on the o-line. At the same time, in the Cleveland game, Joe had to tell him to try stuff downfield.

Likewise the lack of run game (prior to this game) could easily be the excuse for the unbalance in the run/pass play selection. Again at the same time, prior til the 2nd half, our run game wasn't showing signs of being ineffective yet we had passed 75% of the time.
