I'm getting really excited for Perriman. I would love to see us add Walford.
I second that idea... or Duke... I think we should continue the trend on offense for round 2 and shift back to defense on the later rounds. We have studs on defense we just need depth. On offense we were lacking the deep threat TE and a good shifty running back like Duke to be mentored by Forsett can give us a an offense that can blow people away.
for the first time i agree with you. this is a joke? we lost ngata for a back up qb that isnt very good? bet webb feels like a moron throwing away 2m. holy crap.
I read that he can earn up to 3m based on playing incentives... not a 3m a year contract.
That really surprises me. It's hard to believe that Ozzie would move up in the 2nd rd to draft a linebacker that weighed somewhere in the mid 220s. That is Way too small for an NFL linebacker. I can only assume that he felt that the trainers could get him into the weight room and bulk him up. I mean, there Are safeties in this league at that weight. It just sounds like a very iffy draft choice at best, and a foolish one at worst.
On the Ravens roster Mosley and brown are both 235 and mosley is 2 inches taller... on a side note can he play corner and move webb to nickel because the secondary is where we are having trouble.
Confident with Ngata, not sure if there's even discussions with Yanda (think that's fan speculation at this point), and unsure about Webb.
A lot of news outlets are bringing Yanda which to me is a great idea. I believe Ngata will be back but I am thinking we won't get the deal we want... He will make a deal but probably not as good as we are hoping. Webb I am hoping takes some sort of restructured deal. He is not the player we thought he was... injuries are mounting and unless he and Smith can stay healthy a full season our secondary is going to stay hopeless. This draft has some nice talent in dbs but will we push the envelope and keep drafting for defense or retool our offense... (possibly losing a lot of key weapons.)
How confident is everyone that we can get Ngata and Yanda extended and Webb restructured before free agency opens. Or do we want to make other plans for them.
No they did not leave their starters in outside of one or two guys. That is not true. As for the WRs, those are the guys Tyrod works with and practices with. If anything - he should have had the timing down with those guys outside of perhaps Jacoby.
By using that comparison Joe should not have thrown 22 int because he played with the same line and wrs all year in practice. Just because he practice with them doesn't mean they were good enough to start. They were 2 and 3 for a reason. Look I understand Flacco is the qb for the Ravens I just don't understand why everyone is hating on the BACKUP qb. I never said he should start and he won't if he continues to play for the Ravens but why hate on a guy who is your BACKUP.
how about the fact he's an awful passer?
He worked with a qbs coach this off season to work on his throws and Flacco isn't the most accurate guy either. Completion percentages can be misleading it can look better if the wr makes a remarkable catch or bad if they drop an easy ball. But if you watched last year you can't say that Flacco looked like he was on target all the time. But of course we will chalk it to the line and forget the pre snap reads and looking off coverages or saying the wr should have caught the ball he threw into triple coverage.
Yeah that was the first time we got to see what our future was going to look like at center... and our wrs were Thompson Dickson Doss and some of Jones...Pierce was the main back with allen. The Bengals played basically their starting d because I remember the int Taylor threw was to the guy who signed a big contract this off season. And the Patriots game... how well was it going for Flacco that game... was he lighting it up.Flacco does not have all of those problems. He has his own problems, but those are not them.
I would also consider New England a fair amount of snaps. We saw how that turned out for him.
During the Bengals game it was a mix of backups and starters, if I remember correctly. I'm pretty sure they sat the veterans, but let some of the younger guys stay in
You're right. The writing's on the wall. Flacco will get benched for Taylor. Tyrod gets plenty of chances during training to shine in front of the coaches. He clearly never did stand out (even got called out by Harbs for it) and he will not start over Joe. Just stop.
I never said he will start I am just saying that by having him run practice everyday with the 2 and 3 in a system built for Joe or as a scout offense hasn't done him any justice but Kubiaks system is brand new for both and if it can be run by Schuab why can't it be run by Taylor. The NFL is a what have u done for me lately and they should be coming in every year battling for the starting spot... that's always been the problem with Flacco and why he hasn't improved as much as we should want... He was giving the starting job from day 1 with no competition even Bulger was just collecting a check. Flacco showed us last year without the right tools he can falter too. No qbs can succeed without the right weapons around him so why do we think Taylor can't get better if he is in the right system or surrounded by starters. Look I understand he won a super bowl but so did dilfer and so has many other qbs without High pedigrees. Again not saying Taylor is better just saying don't just right him off because of your love for Flacco. He is currently a Raven and u should want him to succeed.
I wouldn't say Tyrod was inaccurate in college, just eratic. He had lots of talent around him, which helped mask deficiencies.
He's got inconsistent touch, has inconsistent velocity, trusts his arm too much to make difficult throws, doesn't progress through his reads, and is far too ready to scramble. Shoddy mechanics with sloppy footwork likely lead to inconsistent velocity and touch.
These are probably things that could improve if he got a chance to get significant snaps, but he's not a good quarterback right now
Flacco has the same flaws... but when he messes up because it's everyone else fault... When was the last time Taylor played a stretch of games with the ones and had success or failure... well there is none... Taylor may have got a play here or there but in his one game against the Bengals he played with the backups and we expect him to Excel with that. When Flacco played with a group of BACKUPS we missed the playoffs and he threw 22 ints.
You think Kubiak would want either Yates or Keenum. They got him fired.
The problem with Tyrod is you gotta run a whole different offense for him.
The problem with that statement is that there are some reports that Taylor looks good in camp running the offense and its Flacco that is still coming along with his footwork and struggling with his accuracy and leading wrs. (Posted in another thread)We will see who grasps the offense better once the preseason starts and pads are on. They are both starting a new system and this system could also be a great system for Taylor. Flacco was drafted for Cams system and Taylor was drafted for... well who knows because Harbaugh likes running qbs... Troy, Taylor etc.
Henderson Richards or Reynolds.
Our last pick is coming..
I think if henderson from Miami is still there he is worth a pick. Big lineman from the U. Played LT but would be a good late rd pick up at RT to battle Wagner.
Also I think we can say that we did get a first rd lineman this year with a 4 and 5 rd pick. Monroe is better than any lineman in this draft. Zuttah is better than any center and KO of 2012 is better guard than anyone and dont forget Yanda.
Steelers get Dri Archer and Martavis Btyant. Browns get West and Desir. We get a blocking TE who would still be on the board now and unecessary Dl and bum rb. Someone should lose their job over these mid rounds
we may not have Ngata or Canty after this year... so by everyones suggestion lets draft a wr or rb lineman early forget our defense of the future and build on one of youngest part of our team.
It really looks like we are preparing for not having canty and ngata after this year.
Anybody know about urban
Any ideas who is left that we can get.
They are a young team... if they had good ownership they could be a good team.
I think the browns are picking people so we cant
I am hoping desir is still there at our 4th round pick
I think we are pressing to hard to get wrs and everybody wanted a home run guy. But unless we were getting watkins or evans I was fine with picking up a slot guy later. We are young with wrs and sometimes guys come out of nowhere... like brown did. We still dont know about Mallette and maybe... just maybe we can pick another undrafted later or a released guy once camps start. I would have liked to have traded for stevie johnson. If we get desperate Doss will probably get cut after looking at what the Jaguars did and we did sign Williams back who might make the team at least as a special teams guy.
Not a huge fan of BPA all the time to be honest.
I am a fine of bpa... I am not a fan of trading back when a quality player is there unless we are getting a bunch of picks for it. I wouldnt trade back unless we knew we were getting the guy later that we wanted like the trade that never happened with the bears.

With Sizzle and Doom getting older by the minute... does anybody besides me believe that we should try to keep Upshaw. Upshaw has the ability to play multiple positions and is still young. He doesn't have the mileage due to our formula of rotating him and Doom. He has never been asked to rush the passer but I believe that he can do it and he is known for doing the dirty work.
So in conclusion we need to find a way to keep Upshaw, our Guards, and sign Tucker to an extension sooner rather than later.
