People will also forget the fact that Pees actually called an all out blitz on that play that actually set up the rushed throw.
Well to be fair, Pees was probably more concerned with Kap running. If Kap had time, he would have ran for the TD.
Yeah, he was really playing well in that playoff run.
People forget that Jimmy was the one who shut down Crabtree on those last 2 plays of that CRITICAL stop late in the 4th. Had Crabtee scored, we would have lost the SB. It wasn't Ray or Ed, it was Jimmy. Look at what the Eagles gave Maxwell!!!!! I'll take Jimmy
I just wanna say I said to temper expectations for Buck Allen after he played well against top 30 or worse ranked run defenses, but people brushed it off... This is about what I expected the past two weeks.
On the bright side, I didn't really pay too much attention to KO, but I didn't hear his name a single time, which is usually a positive for offensive linemen. I did see him plant a pass rusher and then just lay on him, so that was amusing.
I was completely wrong when I said I didn't think Aiken could be more than a three. I think he has shown to be incredibly capable of shouldering a full workload. This isn't a situation like Torrey in 2013 to me because Torrey disappeared as the season progressed, but Aiken has consistently produced. Not only that, but he's seemingly gotten better with worse quarterbacks.
The one thing that really impresses me is that Aiken goes up and gets the ball like it has his name on it. He owns that ball. He just goes up and snatches it out of the air with natural hands. I hated how Torrey would wait for the ball to come to him or pull up and stop trying to go up and attack the ball because there was a defender. Kamar says screw the defender, that ball is mine and I love that. He also has shown incredible body control. I can hardly remember Torrey getting back shoulder fades or out breaking routes to the sidelines because he was usually out of control with knowing to toe tap or to really reel in his body. Aiken seems to have total awareness at all times. A poor man's Anquan Boldin, but he's developing extremely well. Hard work is truly paying off.
I agree with what you said about Akien. While I was watching the game I was thinking I have never see a Ravens WR run a full route tree and make the catches consistantly. He has really shown major improvement this year, more then I've ever seen out of any of our guys. Boldin maybe, but he dropped his fair share. It gives me more confidence that we can develop a guy like Perriman, but imagine if we could get a guy like Boyd who already is so polished. At least it's something positive to think about in this dismal year.
And those pants were the ugly.
Hideous. Burn em and never discuss this again
Agreed, I don't get why people still think we can re sign him. We made our choice, and it was Yanda. We also are heavily invested in Zuttah and Wagner is approaching FA after next season. We can't pay everyone on the line market value, especially when 2 of them (Monroe and KO) can't play 16 games.Couple issues here:
1. If we were to resign KO as a LT, then he would likely be asking for LT money. As such, he can arguably ask to get paid more than he would have asked to get paid as a Guard. Given what we know so far, it would be very difficult to resign him a a guard, and thus, very difficult to resign him as a LT. You're probably looking at least at $5-6M annually in either situation, and potentially more as a LT.
This alone, to me, basically means he's unlikely to be here next year.
2. Cutting Monroe would save $2.1M against the cap in 2016. The dead money impact, generally speaking, doesn't mean much, because its a fixed cost that doesn't have impact on decision making. The only thing that really matters is the cap savings from getting rid of a player.
It would be possible, though unlikely, that they would keep Monroe on as a backup/competition for KO, given the cap savings from a release aren't that great this coming season.
Again, all of this is moot to me, because I think KO is already out of our price range to begin with. Fully expect the FO to move on from him this offseason.
Official Ravens tweet:
We waived QB Bryn Renner and RB/RS Raheem Mostert, and placed DE Chris Canty on IR.
Signed QB Mallett, RB Magee, CB Rolle to 53-man roster.
I liked Mostert he was great on STs, although I guess they wanted a RB to contribute on offense. Hope he goes back on the PS.
Damn, the weekly IR notice. Hope he heals quickly, his leadership was an asset.
Doom thinks the officials are after them too.
Wow, simply unbelievable. Holding is something that can literally be called on every single play, but not once in 10 games?!? One would think that's impossible.
I really like Ngakoue a lot. His motor and first step are ridiculous. He is defiantly a better OLB at the next level. He doesn't have the length of a guy like Nassib, but his first step is defiantly intriguing. He could probably use to add a little more muscle, but would be a great rotational piece early for us. Really interested to see his combine numbers.after looking it over again, i have warmed up to yannick ngakoue a lot, he looks like a professional OLB, and i think he has an extremely high ceiling and a floor of a good rotational pass rusher, and i think i actually like him more than nassib, he appears to just be more well suited to getting to the qb as an OLB at the next level, nassib appears to be less of a finished product and less of a system fit as well. the more i think about it, the more i love the idea of trading back in the first and getting an extra 2nd round pick, and getting ngakoue with that extra 2nd, and in the first we can hope for a guy like nkemdiche to fall and make up a seriously scary duo, if not we can always take treadwell or some other huge talent who slid. with our original 2nd we can take a guy like boyd, mckensie alexander, or michael thomas.
Another one I'm kinda interested in is Sean Davis. Not sure moving to corner was the best move for him because he lacks closing speed for the NFL, but he could probably be a decent FS at the next level. Doesn't really have great ball skills, but has good football iq and is a good tackler. Could be a decent developmental guy.
I really think this one could get ugly. I have a hard time seeing us put up points, at least it's not prime time.
Get well soon
From Harbaugh's PC today:
Harbaugh: Boyle's test not steroids, but leaving it to him to say what. "I don't think he realized it was something he shouldn't be doing."
Is it aderall again?!?
Let's Sign Davon Drew for the 90th time
Where's Billy Bajama when we need him?!? Lol, this sucks....
well if Schaub is hurt its him or Ryan Mallett
I'll take my chances with Mallett...
We got our QB killed, again...
Way to go Buck!!! I like that kid!!!!
Comeon guys
Shaub's standard pick 6
It was worth the wait for Urban!!! It never hurts to have a 6'7 defensive lineman!!!
Urban's first big play!!!!!
Holy hell!!!! That was awesome!!!!
Further proof Dean has to go
insert whatever first name you want: Chykie, Arthur, Marlon, Daniel.....have we ever had a Brown work out?
Cornell Brown was good, not great. Good STer.
Maybe it's just the Browns, but I gotta say, I don't hate Matt Schaub. He looks better than I expected.

I like the idea of transitioning to more of a 4-3 front for the simple fact that it's getting harder to find those hybrid guys to play the OLB positions because more teams have needs for them. Back when Oz was taking guys like A Thomas, there were only 3 or 4 teams looking for players like him, now it's half the league.
Here are a couple issues I have with your thoughts. Suggs and Doom would be DEs in the 4-3. Suggs, at his age and after his Achilles tear, it would be impossible for him to play Sam or Will. So the issue is, we literally need 3 new LBS to give us the proper depth to be able to run it effectively. It's just unlikely to happen in 1 offseason with little cap to work with. We would have to rely on later round picks as starters or key back ups.
Brandon Williams as a 5 tech wouldn't be a good idea either. It's proven because he comes off the field in our sub package (nickel). We have 4 or 5 guys that could play there effectively, Williams could do it, but that's not playing to his strength. He lacks length and athleticism. Jernigan and Urban would be ideal, but neither have the bulk. Timmy was a NT at Flordia State.
We also lack the depth at DE. We have Suggs, Doom, Z smith as the only real options at DE. Upshaw would be more of a 5 tech, we've used him there in sub packages before, he also lacks length and athleticism to play DE. Doom seems to be better as a rotational piece, but if we take Bosa it wouldn't be as much of an issue.
Ed Reed was a SS at Miami, Sean Taylor was the FS. Ed was a SS his first couple years here as well, he didn't transition to FS until Kim Herring and Will Demps left.
With so many holes in our team, I don't think we can focus on bringing in new players to fit a new scheme when we still need a starting FS or CB depending on what happens with Webb. We need to fix that before we even consider transitioning to a 4-3. Those are the needs today and will need to be fixed regardless of scheme. And that's not even addressing the offense which needs a couple of pieces as well.
