Could be he just doesn't interview well. It's definatly something though. For us to pass on him is telling. But who knows, maybe he said he wanted to implement the spread and that's not what Harbs and Oz wanted to hear. That doesn't eplain other teams lack of serious interest, but my guess is the interview was the problem. As for our new hire, it's funny, I said to one of my my buddys around mid season, we should get Trestman when Kubes leaves. "He is a damn good coach" I said!!!! I'm pretty sure Vernon still has 1 year. I seem to remember him wanting more money this last offseason and the team wouldn't negotiate because he still had 2 years left. And he had very little production this year. Even if I'm wrong on the contract, we couldn't affod him. Especially when you consider Pittas contract already on the books. Can't devote that much cap to 1 position.

I'm from an a generation where I got spanked. I got the belt when I was really bad, never to the extent of what AP did, but I think the whole society is getting too soft. I mean, parents bargain with their children. That just seems crazy to me. When I was told no, I didn't ask again. I guess that goes back to the physical discipline. But aside from teaching me to do the right thing, it also taught me about respect. Something that's almost completely wiped out today. Having said that, I really think this "uphold the shield" is BS. When you start implementing this zero tolerance policy does that mean they are going to start banning players for life? I mean, no man should hit their woman, or make their child bleed, (again, goes back to discipline and self control) but if we start kicking all of these guys out of the league, how much talent would be left? These guys aren't priests, they are football players. A lot of these guys come from very unstable situations in their youth. To expect them to completely change everything about themselves and who they are is futile. If they do something you don't agree with, don't cheer for them, or buy their jersey, or something. I don't know, I guess I'm ranting.

I disagree. Teams like the Lions, Cowboys, Raiders, Texans, Redskins to name a few all have a need for a number 1 or 2 corner, and most have more cap space to work with. He would defiantly see more playing time on any of those teams then he would here, baring injury.

I don't think his issue is money. He's sick of being in a constant rebuilding process. The way he looks at it, he has a new HC, new OC, and new scheme to learn. As well as now having to break in a new QB. I think he's just tired of it. If he's going to a new system, it might as well be with a new team who is a contender. He's only been to the playoffs twice in his career and he wants a chance to win.

It's a complex problem. If Torrey wants something like 9-10M a year, then yes, I would make that trade. If Torrey is reasonable and asks for 4-5M a year (which is probably closer to his value) then I would say no to the trade. If we were going to be paying that much to keep him, I would rather have Andre for a couple M more. I don't think that it's debatable that Andre is a better, more consistent receiver then Torrey even at his age. It comes down to the money involved.

Does anybody know anything about Avery Patterson that we signed from Oregon? He seem to have some impressive numbers and came from a decent school. Any other info on him? Looks like he could be a steal.
