  1. i'm not going to hate on players who go for the money, as players usually only have that one chance at the big contract, and if you think about it, they got the big money for what they did during their rookie contracts, which pretty much evens itself out, considering their is a rookie cap.....I've always said, this organizations had made a lot of players multi-millionaires, and that is how Oz should be judged, making mid round picks into big money players.....

Ozzie's real mark was making 1st and 2nd rounders into Hall of Famers. The 4ths and 5ths really just round out the roster. Not many pro bowlers from those rounds anywhere in the NFL.

  2. - Flacco and backup quarterback Ryan Mallett gave rookie receiver Chris Moore a few deep shots in practice. The fourth-round speedster wasn’t able to convert on any of the big plays, but the quarterbacks are certainly looking his way.

WE haven't gotten the deep ball right since Torrey left- Perriman who??? lol

Wallace will catch some this year. At the very least, defenses will have to play some sort of cover 2 against us again instead of flooding the short and medium zones.

I can't wait till Correa becomes a starter. His mentality and motor is Clay Matthews esque.

Many fans were criticizing the pick of Correa but he might turn out to be better than they imagined once the season begins.

I hope so. We passed on Myles Jack for him. He was supposed to be a pass rushing OLB/DE and now he's at ILB. Still would have rather had Jack, but we'll see.

  4. I would sincerely hope that at least one of the ten fourth round picks we've had will be a starter. Literally, you'd think we'd at least get one decent player out of the ten that we drafted in the 4th round- only time will tell.

I posted the grim facts. Only four 4th round players and two 5th round players have even made a pro bowl in the last 5 years. That's a 1 in 40 chance for a 4th rounder and 1 in 80 chance of a 5th rounder becoming something close to special. Starter? That doesn't mean much............you could be upgrading a position from garbage to mediocre. You want all-pro's and playmakers. Hard to do in the 4th and 5th.

Sorry folks, all this trumped up talk about 4th round picks. Here's the reality: in the past 5 years, only FOUR players in the entire fourth round have made even one pro bowl. That's 4 players out of 150-plus picks. 5th round? Only 2 players in the past 5 years. In this league, you win with elite 1st and 2nd round talent, not 4th and 5th rounders.

As long as the team wins a Super Bowl does it really matter who makes the Pro Bowl? Half of the time it comes down to a popularity contest anyway and good players like Brandon Williams get overlooked.

I'm not stressing the Pro Bowl thing as much as I am players who have great seasons. So let me rephrase: only 4 of the entire 4th round in the last 5 years has had a great season. Ozzie built 2 Super Bowls off of elite 1st round talent (the list is huge). We won because of the Ray Lewis' and Ed Reeds not the Bart Scotts and Jarret Johnsons. Can you hit on a 4th rounder? Yes, but the chances are extremely low.

As much love as I have for defenses in football... totally agree with ya there and realize that fantasy football has changed the game I love

There is nothing worse than the fantasy football fan. And the rule changes that encourage more scoring are sickening

Someone put it well a few years back when they said "Denver just score 600 points, and they're talking about a rule making it harder to contact a receiver on a route."

I thought Corey Graham was solid too, wish we could have resigned him... after we let him go, we have been chasing our tail

Yea he definitely was. We had a nice run with Wilson and then Graham. I honestly thought that WIll Davis was a younger version of those 2 guys, but the injury may have really hurt him last year.

I thought that was the key bad move -- letting Graham walk. He was solid (certainly well worth the couple million $ he ended up getting from Buff) and might have helped us greatly in the NE playoff loss. I really believe with one guy like him, we'd be talking about at least another SB appearance.

  8. I personally don't see any similarities in the defenses as far as style. The 85 Bears basically blitzed 9 guys on every play to stuff the run and hit the QB often. From my memory, the Ravens rushed mainly just their front 4 and still got maximum pressure on the QB AND held rb's to 2 yards a carry. That was no easy feat. The other 7 had their choice of maximum coverage or an occasional blitz. I know the end results were very similar, but look at the tape and the methods are totally different.
