  1. The NFL was different 25 years ago. But let's use your example - the Cowboys spent high draft picks on Dez Bryant, Felix Jones, DeMarco Murray, Julius Jones & signed high priced FA like Terrell Owens, etc. It wasn't until they drafted 3 x OL with their 1st Round picks did they actually become a play-off team. That OL didn't look so good when DeMarco Murray left did it? Everyone thought any RB could excel, unfortunately not only did that not happen but Tony Romo took a beating and got his collarbone broken .......twice. Enter Zeke Elliott and suddenly, playoffs again. I'll take the playmakers anyday.
  2. Let me set this story straight: Despite having one of the best OL of all-time, Jimmy Johnson invested very little in that OL. His HIGHEST picks ever were 3rd rounder Erik Williams and 2nd rounder Mark Stepnoski. The remainders (Newton, Gogan, Gesek and Tuinei) were a hodge-podge mix of free agents and 6th/7th round picks. Even HOF Larry Allen was only a 2nd rounder (picked by Jones). My point is the Ravens are crazy for spending this many high picks on the OL when they are so deficient at every skill position on the team. OL can be found later on (see Marshal Yanda and Alex Lewis). Save those 1st rounders for skill positions like Johnson did (Aikman, Irvin, Harper, E Smith, K Smith, Maryland).
  3. CB is one of the very few positions that is completely dependent on physical minimums (speed, acceleration, leaping, etc). There are absolutely no "try hard" players at CB. That said, he just tore his achilles which has to be way more severe than any other position. You only have the guy cheap for 4 years, why waste 2 of them foolishly hoping he's going to recover quickly?
  4. I'm not even counting the guy until he's on the field for at least 12 games.
  5. How did you come up with "zero impact every down players"? Not that he's the only one, but have you ever heard of CJ Mosely? Depends on your view of "impact player". An ILB who can't cover premium RBs isn't exactly high on my list either, but he's decent. Compare him to Patrick Willis, Luke Kuechly, Wagner, Jamie Collins, Sean Lee, and even Anthony Barr.........and you might change your mind. No team is game planning for CJ Mosley, and that's what usually defines an impact player to me.
  6. Maybe this is the start of what I've been complaining about for so long. Packaging up "decent/average" players and mid round picks to move up in the first few rounds. Get some top shelf talent on this team! I hope this drought ends this year.
  7. I don't know where all these players are coming from. We only have one first and one second rounder and we're going to draft a top notch WR, DE, ILB, OT and CB. Dream on. Just get the first two right.
  8. Losing close games means you have enough to hang in the game but no playmakers to "finish". Get some more playmakers and stop dicking around by drafting a horde of "depth" and "role" guys.
  9. Another player selected under the new Ravens rules: 1) academic scholar 2) goes to church 3 times a day 3) "high motor" -- another phrase for "lacks talent but tries really, really hard"
  10. First he needs to reduce his absolutely absurd $25m cap number. He's not worth a nickel over $18m (about what E Manning's number is). His production does not warrant anything more, I don't care what his postseason numbers say, he's not going to get there.
  11. We need talent. Period, not a bunch of BS.
  12. Why cut someone when you don't have to? If the Ravens needs more cap space to sign someone, then they will act accordingly and I can see Watson & Arrington being cut to make the necessary space. It's not like cutting him would give us enough space to get Zach Brown, AP or another one of the top remaining guys. Ozzie will probably wait until the June 1st or pre-season cuts to sign any other FA. A lot can happen in OTAs as far as injuries go. With Pitta, Gillmore and all the other TE injury histories, it doesn't make since to dump what could be a cheap quality TE (that you can't replace for $3 million per) unless you have to. I really wish we could get Zach Brown l really wish. If it's one more free agent that l wish we could get it be him but he probably likely sign with Oakland or Miami because nobody else is interested. All well. l guess we are tight against the cap and Ozzie don't want to lose a Comp pick l guess. 😔 Oz is not going to sign any FAs until after the draft , no way he is parting with anymore Comp picks... He's obsessed with Comp picks to an absolute fault.
  13. As long as he's an academic scholar and goes to church 4 times a week (and has a high motor), we're sure to draft him.
  14. KO would certainly be considered top shelf talent at a minimum. You could argue based on the size of some of the contracts these guys have gotten that there are plenty more. Stanley? Moseley? Jernigan? Williams? Perriman? Carl Davis? I would say they all are top shelf talent. plus Upshaw and KO? who are not on the Team anymore. At #4 - Juice, Urban, Za Smith, Tavon Young - again pretty high in their positions. I think that injuries have hurt the Ravens a bit more than Draft. You have to remember that the Ravens have only picked in the top 10 once in that time and that was last year. The returning Rookie class is probably one of the strongest in the NFL. None of those guys are top shelf, sorry. Most have not made even a single pro bowl (which is not the be-all of awards, but it's something). Perriman and Davis are a joke..........all hype and absolutely nothing out of them so far. There's a huge difference between a starter and a star. Bart Scott was a starter...........Ray Lewis was a star. We got a team full of 4th and 5th round starters and it shows in our record every year now.
  15. And has anyone considered our off coord sucks? This is probably at least 50% of the problem on offense. Once we have a good coordinator, then we can assess what weaknesses we have. I guess we'll ruin the first 8 games this season waiting for Morninwhig to fall on his face.
  16. What Ozzie needs to do is nailing his 1st three rounds in the draft again. Since Flacco and Rice in 2008, we've struck out for 8 years-- no top shelf talent in any of those (sorry I'm not counting Jimmy Smith's 7 game seasons as top shelf). Get back to basics Ozzie.
  17. Lol they better find someone to cover obj , torry , Jeffry's ,, Marshall, in that division The Cowboys problem is they were paying Carr a ton of money weren't seeing that kind of performance. Claiborne was horrible up until last year (and often injured). He was the 6th overall pick in the draft so a huge disappointment. Carr plays every game and is decent, again not a bad pickup at all for the right price (think Corey Graham). I just can't believe that's all we're going with as bad as we've been at CB the past 3 years.
  18. Delusional fans. Arrington was released by the Patriots the week before we signed him and we acted like we stole a prized free agent from someone. He sucks.
  19. Carr is decent but a far cry from what the Ravens need across the entire roster......premium top shelf talent. We're spending our money on safeties, ILBs and DTs. Again, no top notch CBs, no top notch pass rushers.
  20. Not really, Pathetic Joe'll get sacked eight times, fumble three times and throw four picks. Giants 27, Ravens -10. Yes but think about how great our corners will look for a change, against Mark Ingram and the legendary Phil McConkey.
  21. We're strong up the middle, great. No pass rush, no corners. If we run into the '86 Giants we'll be in great shape.
  22. We've spent alot on S the last 2 years..............where are we getting CBs?!?!?!?!
  23. Marshall would have been a great fit 2 years ago when we were still serious contenders. We are now in aged-veteran and salary-dump mode. We completely lack any kind of top-5 blue chip talent (aside from Weddle and Yanda). There are way too many holes to fill and so Marshall won't be the player to take us over the top. At age 33, I'd pass.
  24. This is a pass happy league and the corners are not going to last until #16. Ozzie better get on the horn and trade up a couple slots. He'll have to give up one of his precious 4th or 5th rounder to do it but he'd better make a move.
  25. Yes, I've been saying this for 2 years. We went into last draft with what, four fourth-rounders and five fifth-rounders? I thought for sure they would be used to package up and move up a few spots in rounds 1, 2 and 3. Instead, we traded DOWN and picked up .......yes, more 4th and 5th rounders. We've got a whole roster full of 4th and 5th rounders now and completely bare of any top shelf talent.
