NOOOOOOOOO. Giants just signed Brandon Marshall to 2 year deal, worth $12m total.

WHY DO WE NOT OFFER THAT.

Maybe we did. Ugh, thats affordable and the guy i wanted.

Edit: rumors better be true that we're in on Pryor... or at least someone like Garcon, Alshon. We need a vet, productive WR.

I don't think we're serious contenders for Alshon or Pryor, each wants 10mil/year (minimum). Garcon might still be an option, but all the news I've seen about him has been that the Niners are making a serious run for him (via Rapoport)

  2. I think that people are getting too freaked out over Williams/Wagner/Juice leaving. I'm about 99% sure that no team lives and dies on their Nose Tackle, Right Tackle or Fullback. If someone were to ask me the lowest premium positions in the NFL, my answer would probably be "Fullback, Right Tackle and Nose Tackle". Don't get me wrong, they're all great players and I loved getting to be a fan of theirs, but at the end of the day it probably won't be that catastrophic.

  3. I'm glad the Ravens don't get too involved in Free Agency. Being on the outside and watching teams run the prices up on mediocre players is going to be fun this year.

Some poor fanbase is going to have to live with the fact that their team is going to overpay Dontari Poe by 3mil/year because he threw a touchdown on a trick play and was on Sportscenter for the next month.

Some fanbase is going to have to deal with their FO paying a washed-up guy like Adrian Peterson or Mario Williams like it's 2009.

And like 5 fanbases are going to blow it on one-year, contract-year anomalies that probably won't ever pay off in the long term (cough.. Pryor/Kirkpatrick/Perry/others).

I couldn't be more excited to see the bad financial decisions that other teams are going to fight each other over.

Is 9 million a year too much for Wagner?

In my opinion yes. It's a weird situation. There aren't really "elite" Right Tackles- it's really a position that most teams either just accept as the weakness of their line or use to groom a future left tackle. Wagner is never going to be a Left Tackle, and is essentially an above-average pass-blocker/average run-blocker. But just since there is so much money that needs spent around the league, and Wagner is a relatively known commodity, he'll get a bigger contract than he probably deserves.

I disagree. It reminds me of Tyrann Matthieu's situation in college. A lot didn't believe he was big enough to play the position. Sometimes talent and ball skills make you change the view of the position the next 5 years. I think Peppers could be that guy to come in and blow off everyones' hats. I think he could be the pioneer for his position.

But Jabrill lacks size to play LB, coverage talent and ball skills :hiding:

$10M for Wagner is outrageous. I really want to know who is willing to pay that much. That is nearly 4M more than the highest paid RT(Outside of Lane). If the RT market is expected to blow up in that sense, then they could go up towards being the 2nd highest compensated group in the NFL, that's a position that's not even valued as highly as others.

I stand firm on $7M-8M and I think its possible that he returns on $7.5M if he doesn't find the stress of relocating to a new team/city and a rebuilding team worth it if the Ravens guarantees matches whomever.

10 mil/year is probably what he'll get with the market value, but people are going to overlook his pass-pro deficiencies. That's a ton of money to spend on an RT that needs a TE/RB chip to handle any above average (offensive) right-side pass rusher.

They both have similar mentalities too.

As usual though, De Costa singled out tim williams and charles harris.

The man doesn't learn. Those two are not good enough.

Knowing DeCosta, singling out Williams and Harris means he probably already ruled out taking them lol.

Just going to point this out. I have never seen an elite pass rusher with the stats charles harris posted. The keys for an elite pass rusher seems to be

    3-cone

    Broad Jump

TJ watt had better number than von miller here and weighed in at 255

I think for Watt he had issues because that kind of athleticism/explosion wasn't common on his film. But J.J. had similar issues coming out- definitely ended up being a better pro than college player.

Boyle would be awesome as a fullback. Good blocker and a real receiving weapon. Most FBs are only checkdown receivers. I would really like  Everett Graham for this role. He blocks better than Evan Engram. And Is like a route running WR coming out of the backfield. He is not dominant blocking but he is functional and takes pride in.

I think the biggest area where Juice made an impact that leaves an unfilled void on the current roster is probably special teams, but I feel like the FO has never struggled to bring ST guys in and Harbaugh has never struggled to coach up that area. I don't think Juice leaving creates any glaring needs. It's definitely going to be interesting to see what happens with both the draft and free agency as a result though.

  10. I think that if the team really wanted Wagner or Juszczyk back (btw it's kinda bull if he leaves because I can finally spell his name without googling it), they can have them back. The team has not opened up cap space yet, and I think there is some kind of reason for that.

I think Williams is gone no matter what, he wants a payday around 12-13 mil/year, and I think someone is going to give it to him, but probably not the Ravens. It would be great to keep him around, but he is going to chase the money and I hope he has a long productive career for some NFC team that won't play the Ravens for a long time.

Wagner is iffy, I think the Ravens have given their number (7 mil/year if I had to guess) and won't go above 8 mil/year to keep him, which I don't think will be enough. As worried as everyone is about losing Wagner (myself included), the Ravens have had success developing linemen (KO and Wagner weren't good their rookie years, but were developed into high tier linemen). I think whether Wagner comes back or not will be a testament as to how good the Ravens feel about Alex Lewis as a Right Tackle.

Juszczyk is a peculiar situation. I do not know if the Ravens are going to pass on him or not. The Mornhinweg offense has always had a large role for the Fullback in the passing game, and I feel like there are not other Fullbacks that do what Juice can do as a receiver. I would think that both the Ravens and Juice would be best off sticking together (no other NFL team uses a Fullback as much as the Ravens do). Juice might be trying to max his value by getting a TE deal, but he isn't the kind of physical freak that teams want out of TEs (even H-Back move TEs). If I had to guess, I would think he would end up back in Baltimore, but he is a Clevelander and could end up there next year (which would be horrendous for him) or could end up being brought in by a brainless personnel guy like Jerruh (DAL) or John Lynch (SF) who probably wouldn't understand his role/value.

Even if all three walk, I don't think it will set panic in the FO. They still have a draft/FA to deal with the issues. There's workable RTs out there, average run-stuffing DTs/NTs work fine in a rotation, and I feel good enough about the young TEs (Williams, Boyle, Waller) that I'm sure one of them could fill Juice's role as an H-Back, plus the addition of a receiving/third down back that the FO has talked about would cut into Juice's third-down back role anyway.

  11. My issue with Juice is that if one team values him like the TE/H-Back that he is, his value goes from probably 3mil/year to 5mil/year minimum.

However, it is worth noting that during the Senior Bowl 2015, Nick Boyle was taking snaps at Fullback during the practice week and apparently showed some promise in a backfield role. So that is probably an option the FO is considering. If he can avoid suspension, he can fill Juice's H-Back role.
