apparently we picked up Mayle off waivers, anyone has heard of this guy.

Yeah, he was a 4th Round pick of the Browns in 2015. Cut that year during final cuts. Been on and off the Cowboys since then.

He was a basketball guy in JUCO but switched to football there because he was a 6'2'' power forward and wasn't going to get recruited. Played 2 years of football in JUCO, 1 year at Wazzu.

Drops killed his career, seems to be why he can't stay on a roster.

I doubt he's active for the game since he's had no time to prepare. With SSS and Aiken possibly gone next season this is probably about getting another WR on the roster for the offseason.

  2. I love when people post these mocks. I'm still unsure about Peppers though. I think he has the instincts to be an NFL safety, but his stiff hips and lack of fluidity in coverage are what scares me (along with the very little impact he seemed to make on Michigan's defense).

I'm also surprised by how often that I see Ejuan Price on these mocks. I understand why a lot of people look at his short frame and think of Dumervil, but I haven't really seen the same speed-power conversion thats made Dumervil an effective pass rusher. Hopefully that could be developed if hes drafted by the Ravens though.

Still don't really see the issue with accepting the penalty, unless all you're using for your evaluation is hindsight analysis. Have zero issue with asking your defense to not give up 17 yards on 3rd down in exchange for pushing a not-very-accurate FG kicker into a much more difficult kick to make.

I think it was a bad choice, but either way it didn't work out. The defense and offense both seemed to have issues with 3rd downs.

  4. Theres just so many little things. Taking the penalty against Oakland that gave them a 3rd Down (which was converted and led to a TD) instead of declining and taking the 4th Down. Losing Jimmy against the Giants and watching OBJ go off. Playing the Jets (with their stacked DL) without Yanda or Stanley. The Redskins turnover/turnover disaster.

Its just hard to point to any big problem. The offense wasn't great but that tends to happen when the team makes a midseason OC change. The defense struggled a little late in the season. Either way, things are looking good for the team going forward. Going from 5-11 to 8-8/9-7 in one season is definitely a good sign.

People like to say Jimmy shouldn't make a huge impact on the defense, but when you take him out, you're putting Weddle and Webb in a two high instead of a single high with Webb. Weddle is no longer covering tight ends. Now you're forced to put Orr into coverage more frequently.

It's a huge trickle effect. Weddle has largely still been effective even without Jimmy, so this truly was just one bad game, but Orr has had his worst games with no Jimmy.

I've never understood the Jimmy Smith hate. He's had one of the lowest burn rates the past couple years. I get that people on here generally react irrationally to when players get injured, but like you said there's a huge difference across the entire defense when he's out.

  6. The Ravens never seem to have had trouble getting a decent RB. Some picks don't work out (Pierce, Taliaferro) but more often than not there has been good production from the draft picks at that position. I think that another offseason from Stanley and Lewis along with a healthier Yanda will do wonders for the run game more than anything.

  7. If Waller and Pitta catch those TDs, Flacco has 3TDs and probably the win and this board probably still has their "tough talk."

Do the posters just want to make him run laps or be locked in a film room overnight or something?
