  1. Thanks for the response. Im not exactly sure who my offensive guy would be then. SSS mighy tango with Joseph a couple times and even though I like Joseph a lot as a player, it seems SSS has a penchant for welcoming rookies to the NFL in his own special way. So I'm gonna go with the old man this week.
  2. I didn't really catch most of the Jags game. Did he have any drops in it? Only saw the Perriman bobble.
  3. Moore on offense because I think there's a message worth sending to Perriman (catch the ball or lose your snaps). and I think Weddle because he has OAK familiarity after his time in SD.
  4. I don't think we should have corners following receivers. I assume most people would think that the talent difference between Cooper and Crabtree isn't big enough to justify making Jimmy/Wright learn twice as many assignments making them more prone to mental errors.
  5. QB: May need a backup with Mallett's contract running out, but I think that it's safe to say the team could resign him if they wanted to. RB: Forsett may be a cap casualty, West is going to be a RFA. Hard to tell what we're getting from Dixon up to this point and if Allen and LT are going to be around much longer. Juice is also in a contract year and it's hard to tell if he'll be back or not. WR: SSS is retiring, Aiken is probably leaving, so Wallace, Perriman and Moore are "the guys" going forward. I feel alright with those 3, but a returner/slot guy is definitely going to be something I expect to see drafted since Hester is unlikely to return. TE: Watson, Pitta, Gilmore, Maxx, Boyle, Waller are all under contract, so I'm thinking this is the last position the FO needs to focus on. Will be interesting to see competition to develop and since Waller was playing some WR in the preseason that might be what saves him. OL: Stanley at LT and Yanda at RG aren't changing any time soon, Lewis is most likely starting at LG or RT. Jensen and Hurst are RFAs that I'd expect to get back and Urschel is under contract. Zuttah is probably out if he doesn't improve. So I'd say a center/guard is a pretty big need, regardless of what happens with Wagner. DL: Guy and Brandon Williams are probably out with Urban and Kaufusi competing at 5 tech while Davis and Pierce compete at NT. Could use a lower round pick to create some competition here and make sure that this unit remains a strong spot. Henry has some work to do and KLM might be back too if no other team signs him off the practice squad. LB: Mosley isn't losing his spot, Orr is an RFA that's almost certainly coming back. Suggs, McClellan, Correa, Judon, ZDS are all coming back on the outside. Dumervil is likely a cap casualty if the organization ropes in a high-level edge player. CB: Smith, Wright, Young, Canady are sure guys to return. Price is an ERFA and will be back. Davis is UFA and might return but probably not considering he has been inactive (same with Powers). Arrington is likely to be a cap casualty. So CB is a pretty big need. S: Weddle will be back, Webb is a question mark for me, but I do assume he returns. Lewis might be a cap casualty. Levine is an UFA who has a chance at being resigned. Elam is a UFA and it's hard to tell what's going to happen with him. There isn't a lot of youth at the position and that should be something that needs to change. Sooo... I guess as far as needs, I've identified (1) Back up QB, (2) Slot Receiver/Returner, (3) Guard/Center, (4) Tackle, (5) DL, (6) Pass Rusher, (7) CB, (8) Safety I would order them as follows: (1) Safety- The age is going to affect this position pretty soon and with only veterans at this position there is going to be a hole once they start to leave/retire/play ineffectively. (2) Guard/Center- The Run Game this year has been very bad and unless some upgrades are made soon, the team will continue to struggle. Lewis has shown some good upside at this point, but Zuttah has not been reliable. Unless there is a lot of faith in Jensen or Urschel, I hope that this position is addressed. (3) Pass Rusher- This is a position with a lot of young players, but lacking out right studs. There are a lot of really good pass rushers in the draft this year so I would be really surprised to see the Ravens pass up this position just because they already have young guys like ZDS, Correa and Judon. (4) CB- Wright probably isn't going anywhere because of his contract, but the Ravens have to feel reasonably comfortable with Smith on the outside and Young in the slot. If the team brings in a guy to compete with Wright and Canady on the outside, this unit should improve. Like pass rushers, I feel like there is a lot of talent in this draft at the corner position. (5) Receiver/Returner- Camp and Reynolds might come back to compete again, but up to this point Camp hasn't overcome his injury bug and Reynolds has not shown much return or receiving ability. If you can find a young receiver who can take over the slot receiver/intermediate routes like SSS has been doing a lot of and a returner to replace Hester, the offense should be a lot more potent. (6) Tackle- I would consider this a luxury pick because I do feel as though this is where Lewis eventually ends up, there aren't many great tackles in this class imo, so unless we see a Cam Robinson or Mike McGlinchey falling on Day 2, I wouldn't be too jumpy to upgrade this position. (7) DL- Already lots of talent, another luxury pick if a top name is sliding. (8) Back up QB- Mallett probably returns or another FA gets signed.
  6. It'll be interesting for sure. Our strength (DL) vs their strength (OL). Keep in mind we are the best defense theyll have played thus far. ATL and NO are both bottom 5 defenses this year.
  7. I'll admit that comment was a bit of a stretch, so to clear up what i said a little bit, i think that Cooper lacks the physicality of a guy like Robinson or Julio Jones. He's more in an AB mold, who is a receiver the Ravens have had a surprisingly good track record against. Cooper is obviously very good and i still consider him a top 10 WR and he's undoubtedly going to make some noise on Sunday, but physically the match up with him and Wright may not be as dire as many would think.
  8. Gotta stand out with a unique, uncommon, jersey with future sustainability. Nothing says "Sunday Fan" like a Mosley or Flacco jersey (no offense to those who bought them before we knew how good they are-- you have my respect). My best suggestion is to sneak in now with the Ronnie Stanley jersey because it avoids the biggest three worries: (1) looming retirement/release, (2) potential for embarrassing arrest/indictment/social media gaffe/whatever the kids do nowadays, and (3) fan frustrations over injuries/ineffective play. The best three options for jerseys imo are (1) Stanley, (2) Urban (!!!), (3) Dixon. Edit: Also I'm looking to finally get a Nike jersey, if anyone knows where to get the best deal... and mods will allow it... let me know
  9. My Big Matchups to watch for this week are The Right Tackles Oakland's Defense is a big question mark. They've played against some good offenses in the first couple weeks (Saints, Falcons) and their defense seems to have stepped up a decent amount in Tennessee. Mack hasn't been able to get going, but going up against two of the better RTs in the league (Shraeder, Conklin) might be a good reason for that, Wagner is not a huge drop off from these guys but that's an important match up to watch, I would put Wagner above Strief. The flip side of this matchup is also intriguing as the Raiders may be starting Vadal Alexander at RT this week if Watson is out. Regardless of who is going to be lining up on the strong-side on passing downs (Dumervil, ZDS, Judon) this is going to be a good matchup for the Ravens. Shareece Wright on an island It's going to be extremely surprising if the Raiders aren't scheming to get Shareece Wright in one on one situations against Crabtree or Cooper. Though it can be argued that neither Cooper or Crabtree is as much of a full package as Allen Robinson or as physically gifted as Corey Coleman, this matchup will be a problem as Derek Carr is the best QB that the Ravens play up to this point. I do worry about putting too much safety help on Cooper and Crabtree since Oakland has some talented RBs and a decent TE and Seth Roberts can make things happen if he gets open. Wallace and Perriman against physical corners- Wallace and Perriman are going up against larger, more physical corners this week and I believe that they have an advantage over Amerson and Smith since they should be able to separate more easily. Karl Joseph is going to be starting in the secondary, I consider him more of a box safety and if its only Reggie Nelson giving help over the top, then the Raiders must be tested deep early and often. Joseph should make things more difficult for intermediate receivers like Pitta and SSS, but since it's a rookie that might not be the case. I've browsed some Raiders forums and they're consensus is that they will win this game as long as their defense plays average. They believe that the secondary is sub-par (which is debateable, they have held up pretty well thus far despite Wright's struggles) and that Del Rio has them playing better on the road than at home (early to state thus far since they're 1-1 on the road and 0-1 at home). Considering the back-to-back East Coast away games, this should not be easy for them. The "Baltimore only plays bad teams" narrative may be getting overstated, we should be comfortable with the fact that the Bills and Jags might not be as bad as people think they are (Bills upset the Cardinals, Jags have played some decent football aside from the SD game) and that AFC North games have been and will likely always be hard-fought, ugly games. I'm not saying the Ravens are walking into a win, but it's not like the Raiders are some kind of Juggernaut Team, Our opponent's combined record may be 1-8, but the Raiders' opponents are only 2-7 because the Falcons and Saints played each other and one had to win.
  10. Perhaps we see 3 active RBs and more rushing if Jensen is starting bc of the Lewis concussion. The biggest advantage the Ravens have though is that Del Rio is a bad coach who routinely makes stupid decisions.
  11. So like the Browns to celebrate a "moral" victory like an actual victory.
  12. “There’s a lot things you can say about that. I mean if I went into somebody else’s work and paid money to watch them work and they did a bad job, I would probably boo them too.” On Monday morning in a Jacksonville Starbucks, 17 year old barista Tammy struggled with the espresso machine while star quarterback Blake Bortles eagerly awaits his morning cup. After several minutes of complications and a desperate plea for help from a senior staff member, the 24-year old starting QB begins a long, drawn out "Boooooooooo" that echos through the chain coffee shop. When asked for comment Tammy stated that today's performance was "a disappointment" and that many of the difficulties she experienced in the espresso machine "would be straightened out by next week." Store manager Bert also echoed the sentiment and stated that the young barista needed time to adjust to the new industrial brewing system. Meanwhile, Starbucks customers remain disappointed with the once proud coffee shop and after years of being told of the promise and development have petitioned for fresh leadership at both the manager and barista level. In the meantime, there is no telling how much longer Franchiser Kahid Shahn will be patient with his store's lack of success.
  13. Im tagging you next time Winchester re-emerges. You guys could do Ravens First Take.
  14. He's flexing in that big blue Ravens forum in the sky... jk..no idea
  15. Don't say that name or he'll show up talking about Flacco needing to cut 15 pounds of lower body fat, adding 10 pounds of arm and neck muscle, then trading him and the first round pick for 26 Future Round Two picks.
  16. Unfortunately, I doubt Williams gets extended at this point, Pierce seems to meet the criteria for the 80/20 rule.
  17. I bet Wizard1 is that Cleveland hobo that told Haslam to draft Manziel over Bridgewater. I will thank you for that.
  18. Stats never tell the actual story of what happened. The Jaguars clearly were worried about the deep passes and Flacco was exploiting the underneath coverage. I'm not as worried about the 2 weird interceptions (one off of a Pitta miscommunication and one when the ball came out weird as he was hit while throwing) as I was about the first Haden interception in Week 2 and the Darby dropped interception in Week 1. The team seems to struggle when those vertical options are taken away.
  19. I'm generally against shadowing receivers, I prefer to have corners get comfortable on one side of the field than have them switching responsibilities on a regular basis. Yeah Wright's had rough games against a couple receivers but realistically it's not like Jimmy Smith is a shut-down corner who can negate an Allen Robinson, AB, Green or anybody like that. I think since a lot of Wright's problems seem to be from mental errors, having him switch sides regularly would likely exacerbate those errors. I think it'd be a better idea to get him some safety help and avoid 1on1 matchups against top talent.
  20. Here's a link: http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/H/HestDe99.htm I guess the bright side is that through his career since he's had 36 TDs and 37 Fumbles (counting his fumbles as a WR and Returner), he should mathematically get a TD soon...maybe...
  21. I think the problem is that the playbook is built around establishing the run game, and that hasn't happened.
  22. I dont think the Ravens are sneaking a win out if they play like they have the past 3 weeks. There's too many weapons on that offense and the Raiders OL is too good for the pass rush to help the secondary very much. Ravens will be helped by the fact that Oakland is coming to the east coast, but that might not help too much. I'm thinking Raiders 38, Ravens 20.
  23. JAX about to run away with this game.
  24. I would stick with Stanley for a couple reasons: a. Stanley was a bigger need. Monroe was inconsistent and seemed to be more passionate about his marijuana crusade than actual football. Since he did end up retiring, I'm thinking I might have been right in thinking that. Either way, moving forward with Monroe seemed like a bad option at the time and a worse option knowing what we know now. b. Stanley appears to be a better prospect. Stanley hasn't allowed a sack yet, and that is extremely impressive considering how most other rookie tackles have fared the past couple years. Ramsey did pretty good against GB in the slot, but he seems to have struggles on the outside. This is definitely something that could change, but I think he fits more of the slot corner/nickel safety role than a perimeter corner role. c. The Draft next year has lots of corner talent and not much OL talent. This is another thing that could change, but with guys like Desmond King, Jalen Tabor, Tre'Davious White, Cam Sutton, Cordrea Tankersley and Jourdan Lewis at the top of big boards, I'm thinking there are going to be a lot of corners to take next year. Cam Robinson seems like the top OL talent, but he doesn't look nearly as polished as Stanley.
  25. I think Wallace is going to have the best matchup. Hard to tell since the Jags have been having injury issues (Cyprien and Amukamara didn't practice yesterday), but Ramsey is more of a slot corner and he (as well as House) struggled on the outside against Tyrell Williams and Travis Benjamin in the loss. Pitta will have a rough match up against Telvin Smith if that's who covers him, I wouldn't think that the Jags would put Poz in coverage as much after last week. SSS is kinda a wild card, I've had a hard time getting a read on him so far. Perriman has a really good opportunity to just go off this weekend.
