  1. He's been seen working out individually and is slated to be on the field by mid-August. "Always" and "Never" are words one should not use. What happens if he plays in one game?
  2. There's being in shape and "being in shape". It's well known that the Ravens' conditioning testis a tough one- especially if you are new to the Ravens organization! I did not interpret his comments as being "aloof", but he's a veteran and knows he can play the game at an NFL-level!
  3. Judging by the way he celebrated (buying turkey sandwiches for his family and in-laws), I don't think that will be a problem.
  4. I'm sitting here laughing! Why are we so surprised that a couple of otherwise "regular" guys will celebrate like the rest of us would?
  5. Too often, players reach a point of declining skills but are great people to have around. I'm glad, in this case, that we retain one of the best who's a great person too!
  6. 2030cab, you're just not paying attention! Every team pays big bucks for their QB, not just the Ravens. It's just a cost of doing business in today's offense-happy NFL. Think back to the days of [insert the LONG list here!] the revolving QB door and how some of the best defenses got wasted in 12-3, 15-10 and other frustrating no-offense games! I like BW! However, I liked a lot of youngsters that left after their rookie contracts chasing the money. The difference now is that the guys behind them are pretty good too! As to Cousins in his first year: The 'Skins have been a pass-happy team in a weak NFC East while the Ravens have followed a smash-mouth philosophy (run first, field position, vertical attack when possible) in the toughest division in the NFL.
  7. The knuckleheads in the national media fall in love with gaudy statistics - and ignore all of the other things a leader does for his team. Leadership includes staying on the field after an injury so the team has a better chance to win the game, refusing to slam the teammate who rolled up on the knee in the first place, rehabbing out of the spotlight, showing quiet confidence that he will be ready for training camp, etc. I'm glad he's OUR franchise QB!
  8. Sounds like Wettle is a much stronger person that we had previously assumed - if he can defer to CJ "Because CJ is in the middle of things..." Don't think that his decision to elevate CJ will go unnoticed by the rest of the team! Class act that one.!
  9. This is an article about a rookie who is exceeding expectations. The article even references Jimmy Smith and Sharice Wright as the starters, so why the problem telling the fans about a young man trying to make the team - and doing a pretty good job about it?
  10. Look at Yanda: He's considered one of the best (and toughest) lineman in the NFL, but you NEVER hear his name off the field! Look at Flacco: After finishing the drive with a torn ACL and PCL, can anyone doubt his toughness? There's a world of difference between being "hardnosed" and being a "thug"!
  11. Crusader....As written in the article, when you have no speed receiver, defenses can "stack the box" which makes it difficult to run the ball!
  12. The attitude the Ravens players showed on and off the field, combined with healthy returning starters and a few new "impact" players predict a fun time next season.
  13. Have to agree. From past experience, the money is about two things: Security (the money) and a feeling of respect - or ego (again the money, but now compared with others at the player's position). From watching football for nearly a 1/2 century(Can't believe that so much time has passed), I have noticed that many players, after taking care of financial and "respect" needs have leaned toward their legacy - and usually that has meant championships! I'm pretty sure that Flacco, Suggs, Webb and the like are that way,
  14. Wow, rmcjacket23! You're still on that "Average Joe" rant? Who are you...Skip Bayless in drag??? If Flacco is "Average" as you call it: he's still at worst the 16the best QB on the planet - and has more SB rings than 1/2 those above him! With your short-term memory loss, you seem to overlook the problems that the Ravens and other teams have had when their Nbr 1 QB has gone down!
  15. When nearly two dozen players (most who starters and key backups) go on IR, it's going to take time to find the players who deserve to be on the field. With the season defined as "lost", we have seen players forced to step up - and we have seen some fail but others have made a deference. We also are seeing the results of growing together! In the offseason, the coaching staff will have SUNDAY game film to evaluate what the team needs going forward, the front office will have actual results to determine who needs to be added via the Draft or Free Agency and, finally, players will have seen the real meaning of "next man up" and most of them will work harder in order to be real candidates for next season! Injured players getting healthy, experienced backups, holes plugged by the front office - and we should be excited about the future!
  16. The team has played hard all season. Now they're starting to play smart!
  17. He made a mistake (paying attention to the receiver but forgetting to check his position), but he did play a strong game!
  18. Take a look at BOTH interceptions and tell me how hard Torrey Smith fought for the ball!
  19. Romo has been in the playoffs only four years - 6 games (3 at home and 3 on the road); in those 4 years: 2 wins and 4 losses! Flacco has been in the playoffs for six years - 15 games (1 at home and 14 on the road); in those games: 10 wins 5 losses.
  20. How many years has he even led his team to the playoffs? Heck, How many playoff games has Romo even won? ESPN is all about empty hype!
  21. I saw three things from Perriman's game film: 1. When crossing the middle, he seemed to know how to catch the ball while getting hit - like most great TEs. 2. On go routes, he was less likely to get slowed down by an arm or hand (like Torrey was too often). 3. Good catch, great catch whatever: he was professional in his reaction with a "why get too excited about doing my job?"
  22. Could it be that there is a decision not to take a risk? Could it also be that the opposing defense is playing hard and well too? Could it be that the Ravens coaching staff and leading players know more about the game than people like you?
  23. Nooooo. I believe that the Ravens FO has a better insight into the players they draft because unlike the "national boards" who only look at film, the Ravens scouting team (guys that have been together a long time and can finish each others' sentences) look at film too. However they also send scouts to watch practices, interview coaches and generally get to know a player much, much better in order to make decisions. Please note that each team was allowed 30 interviews (as were the Ravens) and used most of them. However, through three rounds, the Ravens have picked four guys? Was Crockett the BPA at 99? I don't know because I have not put in the work...but I will bet you that the Ravens have! Remember, Bruce, Pitta was a 5th rounder while Dixson was a fourth rounder so it still is a crap shoot...although less so in round 5.
  24. It looked to me like the players we "desperately needed" were gone (the top 5 OLmen, the top 4 WRs and the top 2 TEs) when the Ravens were on the clock. None of the remaining players were better than Mosley so the BPA became a Raven because of his short- and long-term value to the team - as decided by our FO.
