  1. A huge, strong guy who can play Center.

    Priorities, people.

Adding more pass-catching talent is the bigger priority. Gino was poor for most of the year but the FO will undoubtedly bring in some competition for him. They don't have to invest a first round pick in one though.

  2. Two years ago. I believe it was game 4 or 5 or so in the finals vs Miami. There was a four or 5 minuet period where Westbrook was able to score at will.

He's a superstar. Not many people in the league can do that.

Even as a Miami fan, I'll admit he deserved to have 50 that game with how often he should have gone to the line. Ridiculous performance.

On another note, JR Smith shenanigans

  3. I was at the Timberwolves-Mavericks game today and it was a great game. Twolves overcame about a 20 point deficit in the 3rd to make it close. Down 2, Love went for the game tying shot as time expired but was hit on the arm, but no foul was called. The Twolves got screwed there. The place was going nuts with boos.

Just heard Timberwolves radio guy Alan Horton's meltdown on Dan Le Batard's show. Hilarious.

  4. Myth: Torrey Smith, Jacoby Jones, and Marlon Brown form an above average group of receivers.

Fact: I can name a receiver from every team who is better than Torrey. (Yes these names are debatable, I'm just trying to make a point)

AFCE: Mike Wallace, Jeremy Kerley, Stevie Johnson, Danny Amendola

AFCN: AJ Green, Antonio Brown, Josh Gordon

AFCS: Reggie Wayne, Andre Johnson, Nate Washington, Justin Blackmon

AFCW: Demarius Thomas, Dwayne Bowe, Denarius Moore

NFCE: Victor Cruz, Desean Jackson, Pierre Garcon, Dez Bryant

NFCN: Jordy Nelson, Greg Jennings, Calvin Johnson, Brandon Marshall

NFCS: Julio Jones, Marques Colston, Steve Smith, Vincent Jackson

NFCW: Golden Tate, Michael Crabtree, Larry Fitzgerald, Tavon Austin

I like our guys, but let's be honest. There's a LOT of overlooked talent on the other 31 teams. Tandon Doss did not make Green Bay's roster, and I think he's actually our 2nd best receiver. Add a true #1 WR to our group and THEN we have a nice cast.

I'd say Torrey is better than the players in bold. However, guys like Amendola, Kerley, Washington and Johnson definitely run better routes. And Smith, Blackmon and Bowe are better at contested grabs. Love Torrey and I think he'll get better but he's barely a top-30 WR at this point.

Not sure whether you intentionally left him or just forget but Keenan Allen is an interesting  name to consider. Not to derail the thread but is he already a comparable WR to Torrey at this point?

  5. FWIW FIFA has US ranked significantly higher than Ghana. I know they have beaten us 2 WCs in a row, but this US team is much different. Jergen has done a fantastic job, and the skill and creativity of this team is far superior than years past. To be fair I haven't watched Ghana since 2010 but I did see that they barely qualified and faced lesser competition than what the US faced.

Portugal is a good team, Ronaldo has historically played worse in international play and besides him their team is not all that.

Germany is obviously a favorite, but I have to think having Klinsman will give the US a slight advantage compared to playing other powerhouses.

I expect the US move on.

Those rankings mean nothing. Brazil spanked Spain in their last meeting and yet they're ranked 10th. Switzerland is 8th above them. Klinsmann has done a great job and I don't doubt the US team next year will better than we've seen in years past. How did Ghana barely qualify? They won their group comfortably and though they lost their second leg to Egypt 2-1, they were already practically though after smashing them  6-1 in the first leg. As for the how the US qualified, I don't see how they faced notably stronger opposition. Jamaica, Guatemala and Antigua and Barbuda aren't comparable doormats to Zambia, Lesotho and Sudan.

Ronaldo usually plays very well for Portugal. He played well in South Africa a few years ago, dragged his team to the semis last year and was in ridiculous form during qualifying this year. The team isn't amazing beyond him but they've got  quite a few solid players, Coentrao and Moutinho especially.

Klinsmann will surely have some useful tips but Germany is absolutely loaded.

    We'll see...

  6. How much US soccer do you watch? They have been in top form for an extended period of time now. They arent among the World's elite, but are probably one of the deepest squads in the pool. They also play a style that will frustrate a lot of teams they face.

Can't say I've watched a lot but I'm familiar with some of their top players on their squad and I know enough about the teams in their group to project how the match-ups could go. Not that past games will dictate the game but Ghana beating the US the last three times they've faced each other in all competitions can't be ignored. I'd say there are at least 10 teams deeper than the US as well. Brazil, Spain, Netherlands, England, Italy, France, Argentina, Germany, Portugal and Belgium surely are; after that, you've got more a bunch of teams with more clear-cut or comparable talent. Ghana is one of them. I agree the US will frustrate the teams they play but I just don't see them emerging from the group.

We'll see how things pans out.

  7. i agree, there's no way the US gets more than one point in their group and that would be very lucky

don't know about England though... Costa Rica's been bad as of late, barely qualified... and they should beat Uruguay if they want to prove something

Whatever happens, the Uruguay/England game should be a riot. The media here can't get enough of Suarez.

  8. US group Isnt that bad. They should beat Ghana, and Portugal is good but not great.

I don't see how the US should beat Ghana. They likely won't be able to out-muscle them and their overall technique isn't too good. Portugal certainly isn't great but even beyond Ronaldo, the US will have their hands full.

  9. World Cup draw was earlier today. The US is going to be lucky to finish fourth in their group with Germany, Portugal and Ghana. I won't be surprised if England doesn't get out it's group either. Italy and Uruguay obviously have quality and Costa Rica usually has talent. France should cruise to the knock-out stages, as well as Argentina. Group C is a toss-up.

  10.

as is your opinion  of luis Scola, Pablo Prigioni, Manu Ginobili and Carlos Delfino?
    Good players or overrated?

At his best, Ginobli was the best SG in the league after Kobe and Wade. He's old now but can still contribute in spurts. Scola and Delfino are solid role players. Don't know anything about Prigioni.

  11. Pitta has definitely been a key missing piece. Not having a dependable TE makes it much more difficult for the WR to find space.

JJ has improved and I think his ceiling may be a little higher than most here believe. At the right price, we need to keep him.

Torrey and Marlon will be here, but I'm not so sure about Doss.  While showing some value in the return game, he's proving to be who he was prior to being cut.  To go along with his butta fingers, he just doesn't seem to have good football sense, if you get my meaning.

There's no more upside with Jones. He turns 30 next year; we've already seen his ceiling. He's good for plays like we saw against the Jets but he's no more than a situational deep threat.

Regarding Doss, he certainly makes boneheaded plays but he's an effective returner and is better on short and intermediate routes than Jones. With Pitta likely back next year, Marlon hopefully taking a step in his development and the running game improving, Torrey will be allowed to go deep more often, lessening the need for a strict deep threat like Jacoby. Personally, I'd rather see a younger players with long-term upside battle to be the third and fourth receiving options.

  12. Maybe not a popular opinion, but I hope we find a way to keep him. It seems that he and Joe are developing a connection and not just on the long ball. We've got to stop the WR revolving door for a couple of years and gain some stability in the passing game.

Dragonfly is THE X Factor on this squad.

Letting Jones go wouldn't create much of a revolving door situation. Assuming Pitta is re-signed, Joe will have him, Torrey, Brown and Doss back next season. I'd rather see that group along with an early-round WR draft pick continue to grow with Joe over the long-term.

    Just like Boldin, great thinking.........

Had Pitta not gone, we wouldn't have missed Q's production as much.
