Sounds like certain other fans I know. Giving every excuse in the book for a guy named "Below Average Joe."
My 5 things to watch are all about Joe Flacco. For years I’ve been a Flacco apologist. It’s the coach, it’s the line, its receivers, the running game etc.
Now he has a HOF receiver in Smith Sr., his security blanket in Pitta, 2 receivers with speed in Wallace and Perriman, solid RBs, and 2 other 6’ 5 TEs.
So far this season, Joe has faced defenses near the bottom of league and is throwing over 30 times every game and the offense still is looks inconsistent drive to drive, half to half, game to game.
If Joe had an all pro LT, all pro RB, all pro Wr, all pro TE, then Ravens would not be able to pay him the money he gets.
1. Will Joe throw accurately today?
2. Does he protect the football?
3. Is his play consistent all 4 quarters?
4. Is he making adjustments at the line?
5. Joe’s production. He facing a defense that gives up the run and pass. Can he be ‘the guy’ that gets the offense going?
If yes to these questions, the Ravens will not only beat the Skins, but are a playoff team.
Redskins have a good offense so the defense may struggle today. Joe is getting paid more than anyone on the field (on both teams).
He needs to be the guy that is the reasons Ravens win, instead of a guy that needs the best of everything around him to win. No more excuses!
Good to see someone finally take the "Below Average Joe" glasses off.
Well, nothing new for a Ravens first round draft pick not being able to play. If the starting left side of the line is going to be Lewis and Urschel, put big money on the Skins. Below Average Joe will be worse than usual.
Well, he may consider himself in a slump, however the D has been outstanding in every game. What is truly in a slump, is the offense, lead by Below Average Joe. That has been the case since 2013.
We run the same blitz's every week, no stunts nothing. like Del Rio said, they wouldn't get to Carr. And Trestman his just a total joke. that's why he is a journeyman. Harb's better wake up. He will have a mutiny on his hands with the fans.
In some cases the mutiny has started which is beyond me. We are 3-1 right now and imo we will get better as the offense jells.
When will the offense jell? Probably never with Below Average Joe behind center.
Well, the run better improve now...otherwise I'm calling it: Justin was made the fall guy for an inept run strategy. If the run improves it means that Dixon and/or West simply had more production to offer than Forsett. If it doesn't improve it means the Ravens brass threw a loyal, committed, dedicated, and classy player under the bus. Guess time will tell.
Well, gee. Without Forsett, their YPC went from an average of 3.3 a game to 5.1 this past week. I guess that was improvement! Time has ALREADY told.
The Raven's D has been awesome. Held the number two O to under 300 yards. They will have to be stellar all year, to make up for this pathetic Offense and QB. Not only does the O not help the D, they commit horrific penalties, to put the D in a bigger hole. Go Orioles!
Me thinks the Ravens spun it, so Forsett could go out with some dignity. There is NO WAY in heck, a thirty year old RB, coming back from injury, and struggling
mightily, is just arbitrarily going to give up THAT contract. Don't really know why they resigned him anyway. Doubt anyone picks him up, for anything near those $$. But now, he's got plenty of time to post pictures of himself and his family all over social media every day.
"[Offensive Coordinator] Marc [Trestman] has his ideas." Yeah? What are they? To pass the ball 4 times with garbage bins for pass blockers in a situation, where you need 7-8 yards for a field goal with RB averaging 5 yards per carry and who has constantly been steamrolling the defense in the second half, with over a minute to go and a time out left??
Harbaugh has always said that we will run the ball until the defense can stop it. Well, the defense couldn't stop the run. Why the hell did Trestman start passing the ball with the game on the line, still enough time left to get 10 yards with 3 downs and let Tucker do what he does best?
I've been critical of Harbs and Flacco in years, but that L was all Trestman. I hope he got some words from Harbaugh, that his b s won't be tolerated anymore.
If the HEAD COACH has no clue what the OC is going to call, or any input on it, and the $100+ mil, nine year vet QB still can't read a defense or call an audible, then maybe THEY should be gone.
As long as Below Average Joe is behind center, nothing will change.
The games change from week to week. Big Ben looked like Kyle Boller last week in Philly. Last night it was Alex Smith's turn to look awful. Could Joe have played better yesterday? He'd be the first to tell you he could have. The Raider fans leaving the stadium yesterday were acting like getting to 3-1 was like winning the Super Bowl. We are 3-1 and our season is over according to the comments I see this morning.
The problem is "Below Average Joe" looks awful EVERY week.
Just knew that going for two in the second quarter, when it was totally unnecessary, would come back to haunt them. Can we ALL finally admit Flacco sucks.
No we can't. Just another fair weather fan!!!!
Fair weather fan, huh! Why don't you pay attention, and quit living life with you're head up your, Uh, in the clouds. You might actually learn something!!!!!!
please fire OC
Ridiculous!!!! Flacco's had five different OC's in nine years, and he stunk under every one of them. Fire the crappy QB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
what about the decision for the 2-point conversion when you did not need to..
Awful. It's amazing the Ravens can win ANYTHING with this coach and QB.
Just knew that going for two in the second quarter, when it was totally unnecessary, would come back to haunt them. Can we ALL finally admit Flacco sucks.
When will the Kool Aid drinkers admit Flacco is the problem with this team? Embarrassing performance. May not win another game.
"Talented offense"? Seriously? Who is that? I guess if you score one touchdown a game, against mediocre to bad teams, you have a "talented offense". What a joke. A truly talented offense is one like New England has, where, despite the loss of their starting quarterback, they have won all their games. You want talent, now that is talent.
I keep thinking your real name must be without the "styna" part.
Truth hurts, huh?
BENCHED Forsett, big deal. He'll still get carries. Why not just cut the guy, save some money and Let Allen play. Dixon'll be back next week. Go with the young, hungry guys. By the way, guess all the top notch reporters on this site are sleeping in today.
No one can say the Ravens defense isn't better than last year. The addition of a real leader, Eric Weddle, has done wonders. However, no one will confuse then with the Ravens 2000 defense. They still have coverage troubles. Jimmy Smith is like Flacco on offense, one play great, the next one a stinker. Bottom line is that to keep winning, the offense needs to get in the game. I am tired of all the passes behind the line of scrimmage and passes on third down of 3 yards when we need 6 for a first. All we read about is how fast their receivers are and how much of a deep threat they are. Talk is cheap. Also troublesome is their inability consistently to make one yard on third and one. The line has got to start giving the running backs some room to run and Joe time to pass. They have done neither yet.
My friend, I am not a doctor, but I believe you may be expierencing a case of the Mondays. Being that it is Saturday, a day when catching a case of the Mondays is exceedingly rare, I suggest you notify your doctor immediately.
I suggest if you have nothing factually constructive to say, you don't say anything. Even if you disagree with me, I will listen to your side, but all you have done is disparage me personally instead of having the courage to speak about the issues I have raised.
We're just sick of only reading negative comments from you about the team. True or outrageous. Maybe keep your negative thoughts to yourself and chime in with rest
Yeah, that's right. Truth be damned. You CANNOT disagree with ME! If I don't want to read it, you can't type it.
Well, through the first three games, the D IS FOR REAL. If it wasn't, Below Average Joe would have tossed away the first three games this year, just like he did last year.
Time for a fast start on offense to reward the defense for their outstanding effort the past few weeks.
Also, TRESTMAN, please do not run on first play of game for once! Try a slick looking PA with a deep option to Perriman or Wallace with underneath routes. Your plays are good, but you need to play the chess game better. Many times it is far too obvious if the upcoming play is a run of pass.
Trestman's problem is the same as it's always been. He doesn't have a competent QB to facilitate his playbook.
"They make this, and we have to score a touchdown to win." Even Mr. Purple Koolaid, Byrne, KNEW that wasn't going to happen!
The only thing that worries me this week, is the same thing as every game day. Below Average Joe.
This has to be media fluff to create something to talk about and give his team a reason to get up for this game. KO is mad because he did not get the offer he wanted. Okay. You got it elsewhere, so problem solved. You cannot always gets your pie and eat it too. You were still given an highly competitive offer. the fact Raiders spent very little of their cap and could outbid the Ravens doesn't really say they care, as much as they really needed someone of your caliber and could afford to over pay. Just wait until they try to re-structure when your salary is out of balance for their cap.
Ha Ha ... that's really good ... because you know with guys like Cooper, Mack and Carr - this team is going to have to spend to the cap and beyond to keep that group together. Then they're going to look down their payroll to see where they can save money and the $11M on the line that shows LG is going to jump off the page. Given the way they've structured his contract (flat with no dead money past 2018), if he says no, he very well could be sent packing.
Unless he is shifted to LT and can play well at that position with some consistency, he will be over-paid.
Life in the NFL. That's what makes this Patriot run all the more amazing.

Now that I think of it, I would tend to believe the Patriots excuse makers much, much more It's more likely the greatest QB in the 2000's loss's are probably due to someone else. However, MOST of the Raven's loss's are directly related to "FAR Below Average Joe." There. Changed it for ya' to keep it new!
