  1. A much more recent version of a championship Ravens team involved the acquisition of one Anquan Boldin. That was the one true attempt at getting a playmaker on the outside. All else has involved underperforming draft picks and aged WRs to fill in. I'd really like to see us take that route again. Now - who would be available - I've no idea, but if such a person could be made available, then I'd love to see us take that approach again. Ah yes Boldin was certainly Golden
  2. Disagree with those pinning most of Ravens issues on Flacco. Joe wasn't responsible for Waller's TD drop, nor Perrimans multiple drops. Perriman has a steep learning curve and isn't representative of a starting WR let alone a 1st round pick. Flacco is a good QB but he's a very system-typed QB. He can only succeed in a specific offensive system - notably Kubiaks. If Joe had that again, he would be tearing it up. The two glaring issues are lack of playmakers on receiving core (as previous post mentioned) and Offensive Coordinator playcalling. If Ravens fix those two things, I'd think we'd be shocked how good they can be.
  3. Ah well, time to move onto Gillmore.
  4. I agree wholeheartedly, I am not upset with the 4th and 5th rounders the Ravens picked, but Ramsey and Jack are rare breeds. Its just my opinion that Oz didn't want to surrender a better pick to Dallas to grab Ramsey. Even if they parted with their third pick, they would still have a chance of getting some if not all of these guys in the 4th and 5th rounds... while also getting Ramsey. Same goes for passing on Jack when he was in our lap. Who know what will happen but this team never gets this chance to choose the elite of the crop as they got this year. And as Eisenberg said many of these guys we drafted won't be starters this year. At the same time I'm sure our team is safely secure for the next few years to come so we'll see. Heres hoping for a bounce back year!
  5. Can't wait to see these rookies in action! Excited bout this upcoming year
  6. yea you're right they definitely have more info than anyone else, it's their career, they have scouts round the clock looking at prospects. i love this team and will root as i always do, i just need to temper my feelings about not getting flashy picks. it won't matter if these rooks produce over the next 3 years, then we'll really know.
  7. why does it have to be either or? Can good football players only come with histories of bad decisions? you're right it's not neccesarily one or the other, but i think most teams these days are willing to overlook pure talent and production when that player has off the field issues. and Harbaugh is strong on that we all know. So just stating that out loud. I don't think it's bad at all actually, but hope it doesn't compromise the quality of our team
  8. Alright people here really take things literally lol. Alright let's phrase it for those people again... hmm i wonder what Oz and company were thinking passing on those guys? I love people character assassinating the commentators on this site just because they disagree. Obviously I have no football credentials but there are dozens of ex-coaches, analysts, scouts, and pundits that have plenty of knowledge and many of them are saying the same thing. Look face it ravens went safe in the draft. they went into the draft thinking they were a playoff team and not a team that won just 5 games a year ago so I hope we all stop with the passive aggressive comments just because we want to get defensive of our team
  9. Raven have cash they'll sign another Daryl Smith. Easy FA signing. Maybe Daryl Smith could come back? Did he sign anywhere else?
  10. What I would give to sit down with Oz, Eric and Coach and ask them why they passed on Noah Spence, or Mackenzie Alexander, or Myles Jack. That's what I'm most intrigued about
  11. Heard someone on the radio say "man these ravens are going to church to get players".. I laughed but he's on point. I understand character issues, but it might compromise production and toughness that is necessary in the AFC North. These moves have John Harbaugh's stamp all over it.
  12. The Ravens will be forever tied to the Dallas Cowboys denying a trade up for Jalen Ramsey as well as passing up on Myles Jack in the second round. We'll see how everything plays out. It was a safe draft, nothing too risky, nothing flashy. I am intrigued with the direction this team has taken since their inception. They used to grab tough physical guys with less emphasis on conduct or character. The NFL image has changed and I suppose so have the Ravens. It's not just about talent, the injury bugs over the past several seasons and off the field issues linked to our team has definitely traumatized us, and this safe draft full of durable and fairly decent character guys (with one or two exceptions) was proof of that
  13. Yepppppp this whole draft is a whopping C+ at best. Same old WR and CB issues this year lol
  14. disagree, West impressed enough for another shot at RB depth #2 or 3. We are ridiculously crowded at the position, wasted pick
  15. I like Mink's and Downing's mock drafts on this page more than the actual draft picks the Ravens are making... bleh
  16. why dixon when devonte booker was available? why rb in the first place?? wr higgins was out there, as well as westerman and brothers. wow
  17. Richard Sherman was a 5th rder. Optimistic! Good point, but Richard Sherman wasn't undersized... not sure what the Ravens see, but they obviously know more than me. Just wondering what's going on with Oz and the ravens scouts
  18. people who tell you to move to Jacksonville for stating your opinion and making a criticism in order to improve your team.. then they have some screws loose in thier heads. Those people will never understand that we criticize because we love our team and want them to be better, not just nodding our heads to anything and everything the ravens do
  19. Noah Spence, Myles Jack and Mackenzie Alexander were sitting there and we passed? Alrighty. Scratching my head. Guess thats why they pay those guys the big bucks
  20. It's not about armchair coaches. it's about making a decision with some empty "rah rah" bravado versus being practical and thinking with your head. Don't talk to me about losing culture. You may want to talk to the Colts who had a plummeting season and foresaw Andrew Luck sitting at the #1 spot the following year's draft. You think the Colts told themselves "hey lets win as much as possible so we don't end up with Luck!" Give me a break, smart teams know people will forget a few lost games when you're stinking anyways at the chance of grabbing a franchise player that will last you a decade. You'll be more thankful for that.
  21. I strongly believe it was the Myles Jack and Laremy Tunsil demise that hurt the Ravens. Jack was pegged with JAX and Tunsil could have gone to SD or maybe less so but even Dallas. We could have had an opportunity for Bosa or Ramsey but the events that played out just pushed those two draft stocks downward and affected how the lack of trade calls to the Ravens and the Ravens pick itself. With that said, I'm happy with Ronnie Stanley but was looking for a flashy move I suppose.
  22. It feels almost inevitable that Ozzie will take one of the many Alabama defensive players left in the 2nd round, and frankly, none of them are that impressive to me. Ragland fills a "need" at ILB, but every analyst I've seen has said he's not great in pass coverage, so I'm not sure if that kind of player is really helpful to us or not. I have a feeling that previous Bama players who didn't pan out will make Oz think twice (Cody, Kindle). I am betting on him NOT taking a BAMA guy in the second round.
  23. So we sweeped the Steelers. If we had lost one of those games, we would have been picking at the JAX spot and would have had Ramsey in our lap. I don't understand how folks think. We knew our season was over last year. Why not prep for the next year with the highest draft pick possible..
  24. Hahaha Tunsil at 6th spot? I wish. Qualifications for being a draft guru must be really really low.
