  1. Completely dependent on another team paying that price. If I were another team, I'd just wait a year, give you nothing, and sign him myself. He's getting a big contract regardless, and so that's factored in to the price tag. If this deal were a year or two ago, we probably could have gotten a 2nd rounder for him. But factored into the cost of the trade is the cost the other team has to pay for the new contract... OR... the risk of not being able to sign him to an extension. Maybe Jernigan's agent told teams that his client wouldn't sign an extension regardless. If so, that certainly drops his trade value a ton, because he's a one year rental to most teams at that point.
  2. He pretty much can't lower his cap hit to the level that you require, nor should he. Wasting your time.
  3. Just a person with common sense... Troll on.
  4. Sure it is kid. Sure it is. Join us in the real world sometime. Its not so bad.
  5. Which young player on the roster do we have to develop? Here's a radical concept... if Webb is old and slow, then any young player who's actually worth a damn would simply play better than him in the preseason/training camp. Should be pretty easy to do if you're good right? Not like we're going to be signing Webb to some 6 year contract. He may not even make the final roster. What are we at the point where we're just supposed to hand a bunch of young guys some playing time (for doing nothing) and pray that they play well? And naturally I'm sure the fanbase will be so accepting of that decision when they don't play well. Spoken like a true ignorant fan. Always great to call for all of the risks when you take responsibility for none of it.
  6. Yup, and in many ways, it plays a large role in some of those guys being as GOOD as they are. Namely, Torrey Smith.
  7. Well we do have CJ Mosley, who's pretty good. If you fools still think we're going to find the next Ray Lewis or Ed Reed before you even die, you're just fooling yourself. There's 31 other teams teams in the league, and they've spent decades looking for players of that caliber. We haven't had them for all of about 5 years. O the humanity! Yes, everybody forgot Birk. He wasn't here that long, was pretty average at the end, and the Ravens were pretty good in 2014 without him. Again, its been a whopping like 3-4 years, and you guys act like its been an eternity. A little perspective goes a long way folks. Starting to get back to the way it was a few months ago, when it was quite obvious that a lot of you fans actually DESERVE a losing team.
  8. And the solution of course is to just quit trying... because that makes perfect sense.
  9. Which doesn't matter of course, because there's no difference between AFC and NFC players. Nothing special about either conference. Have you ever wondered why you're literally the only person that brings this up?
  10. Yeah. There's definitely a long list of WRs who came here, sucked, and then played well elsewhere. O wait...
  11. About as honorable as a player threatening to hold out until they get a new contract. Welcome to the NFL.
  12. He would be signed as depth obviously. I seriously doubt he would be brought back to take the spot of a young player.
  13. You'll see more players at those positions during the regular season because they play ST. Your Dlineman and Olineman aren't your prevalent ST players, so that's where your depth has value. Plus in training camp you need about as many bodies as you can get so that everybody gets a good look. There were times last season where we literally had to sign WRs in training camp/preseason seemingly off the street just so our QBs had somebody to throw to.
  14. He can likely get a better deal elsewhere.
  15. LOL, not saying at one time. I'm saying if you use another 1st or maybe even 2nd rounder on a WR AND sign Boldin, one of those two guys (or Perriman) simply isn't going to play that much. Would at best have a role similar to Aiken's. That's why if we address WR early in the draft, I don't think you'll see us sign another veteran like him.
  16. We don't need 4 decent receivers at one time unless there's injuries. The 3rd WR in our system never put up quality production stats... and that's in a pass first offense. On a balanced team that runs the ball well, this offense is only going to yield production out of 1 TE and 2 WRs for the most part. Your 3rd WR is going to get maybe 3-4 targets a game and probably only catch 2-3 balls.
  17. Right, but those snaps come in the preseason and in training camp. That's when young players earn their playing time in the regular season. Teams don't have the luxury of just throwing super young players out there in real games in order to "get snaps". That's how teams lose football games and coaches and GMs get fired. If a guy is good, he's going to show you he's good in the offseason.
  18. If we use a first round pick on one of those guys, I highly doubt we would be interested in signing Boldin afterwards. Doesn't make much sense.
  19. 1. There's no guarantee a guy like Camp even makes the team. He's guaranteed like $250K. If he doesn't cut it in camp/preseason, you move on. Not hard. 2. There really aren't that many other players available to be signed, and if we wanted to sign them, we could just cut other players in order to create space if we needed it. There's two guys on the roster right now I can tell you the FO probably has very little interest in seeing on this team this year. 3. They won't carry that many TEs or that many WRs on the final roster obviously. Teams DO need that many when it comes time for training camp/preseason, because if you don't have that many, then you won't be able to have an effective camp. Would also point out that once you actually do get to the 53 man roster, WRs and TEs are important because they are often your core ST players. ST is kind of a big deal in the NFL, and unless you plan on sending guys like Wallace or Perriman out there to tackle returners, you're going to want some guys who can do that effectively.
  20. Ozzie is really liberal with Steve's money with these contracts. You don't see that with the gold standard team. NE. Actually, you do. Look at the spending NE does every year.
  21. They'll get snaps if they earn them, which is what training camp/preseason is for. Frankly, if any of them are worth anything, I'd expect them to outplay a veteran journeyman that we would sign at this point in order to get those snaps. That's why Aiken isn't here anymore. Because he couldn't outplay Steve Smith and earn more playing time.
  22. Obviously the FO doesn't think he's great... they spent a lot of money on his replacement and then cut him. But as a depth player he's more than fine. Just seems to me that you think teams have starting caliber players as backups everywhere in this league. Doesn't really work that way.
  23. OK, and? Fans always want different players than the FO takes, because they think they know more about football than our FO or any FO does. Many fans hated the idea of us drafting Ray Lewis. This is nothing new.
  24. 1. That's my point. There's no way somebody is considered "overpaid" until AFTER you have the luxury of seeing what the future holds. Fans try to pretend like they know if a player is going to be "overpaid" or not the moment they sign the deal, but they have no vague clue if that's true or not. Not a single person in history has ever gained anything from hindsight analysis. 2. Again, you saying Top 50 or 60 is just some arbitrary number you pulled out of thin air... it doesn't really have any meaning. You say top 60, but maybe its really top 20. Or top 30. Or top 40. Or here's a wild concept that I guarantee NFL teams consider... in some drafts, top 60 is a joke. Why? Because there might not even be 60 starting caliber football players in the whole draft. So by that arbitrary logic applied across the board without taking into account factors like how strong the draft class is, every single team would have a failing grade before the draft even starts. 3. NFL GMs don't really care about criticism from the fanbase over their perception of draft picks because, obviously, the fanbases perception over the quality or performance of draft picks doesn't always align itself with reality. I've never once seen a GM get fired because the fanbase didn't like his draft picks. We pretty much already know that many GMs keep their jobs after whiffing often on 2nd and even 1st round picks, because there's multiple GMs that fall under that umbrella. The top 60-70 picks the Patriots have taken in the last 3-4 years has about ONE standout player in it... and they traded him away. Seahawks are pretty much the same. 2012 they took Bobby Wagner in the 2nd... where's the top 60-70 impact player they've taken since then? Why hasn't their GM been fired yet? Hint: winning is what matters. You can draft poorly when you win. Who cares if some fans criticize you for it... THEY'RE FANS. They don't know any better.
  25. We shouldn't miss him, because he's not a starter anymore. Now if Weddle or Jefferson gets hurt, its a different story. Not exactly sure if you've looked at the guys we've got behind them currently, but it ain't exactly "average depth" either.
