  1. I was nervous when we made a journeyman coach our OC, and I was nervous when we used our first round pick on a WR. What a horrible start to the season, and not much reason to be optimistic for the remaining 13 games.
  2. Getting stomped in the home opener, and our #1 pick re-aggravates his knee in warmups, when he's not even active for today's game. Well, 7 straight seasons without a losing record in the Harbaugh era is pretty darn good. Guess it's about time we experience an abysmal season. Maybe we'll get Fournette in the upcoming draft.
  3. Abort the run game? I agree that we need TDs instead of FGs, but our WR Corps consists of Steve Smith Sr and a bunch of mediocrity (at best). Sorry, but it's true. Marlon Brown, Kamar Aiken, Michael Campanaro...this isn't exactly a WR Corps that strikes fear in opposing defenses. Not one of our WRs has yet to catch a TD pass (one of them let a go-ahead TD pass go through his hands and bounce off his face mask, but oh well). Gilmore is developing nicely, but our other TEs are raw, raw, raw. When we're deep inside the red zone, give it to Forsett or #44. I'd say Taliaferro too, but the guy always seems to be hurt.
  4. Great job, Tucker. However.....it would be great to see some of those FGs as TDs instead. You know, like last weekend when the Ravens had 1st and Goal inside the Raiders' 5-yard line and couldn't punch it in? Those missed opportunities are often the difference between a win and a loss.
  5. Yeah, it's bad enough we couldn't put away the Raiders, but dropping the home opener to a division rival will be a severe blow to the Ravens. A loss Sunday will make it all but impossible to foster optimism about a win Thursday in Pittsburgh.
  6. I wish we would just stick to drafting and developing our Tackles instead of signing from outside the organization. Sometimes it doesn't work out (Oher, Gaither), but more often than not Ozzie knows how to draft O linemen. I remember how optimistic everyone (including myself) was when we locked up Monroe long-term. Sucks that he's looking more and more like a disappointment.
  7. I'm almost at a loss for words. The Ravens were Completely out-played by the freakin' Oakland Raiders. You really can't pull any positives from this game, except that it finally ended. And the next two games are against much, much better teams. Hard to believe this is the same defense that played last Sunday.
  8. Coulda done a little better with the whole Ferrari metaphor. It woulda been more accurate to say that's like taking a Ferrari on the AUTOBAHN and only doing 55. Cars go a helluva lot faster there than on the Interstate/Freeway. Not that it matters, bc as long as the O line fails to protect Flacco, he keeps throwing INTs, and veteran WRs let passes go through their hands and bounce off their facemask, we're not dealing with a Ferrari, we're dealing with a used Buick with bald tires.
  9. You know- as messed up as all the diagnoses of Perriman have been, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if he ends up missing all of October and makes his debut in December. The only thing I'll believe at this point is when I see him on the field.
  10. It seems like the Ravens usually play down to the level of their competition, which can be INCREDIBLY aggravating. I hope this game goes more like last year's game against TB than last year's game against JAX. Go up early, and keep pouring it on. Don't give the fans a heart attack like last week.
  11. Far more often than not, Joe typically has a strong showing following an abysmal performance. Given that it's the Raiders, and they're (likely) without both their starting safeties, I'd say conditions are going to be ripe for a great rebound by the offense. Go Ravens!
  12. No dou No doubt about it- right now the offense is the weak link. Specifically- the WRs are the weak link on the offense. Steve Smith dropped the game winning TD pass that hit him in the hands, then bounced off his face. None of the other guys could get open because we have a bunch of inexperience behind Smith Sr and nobody to stretch the field. I'm hoping Darren Waller is an extremely quick learner and Marlon Brown gets a magical dose of quickness & agility before Sunday.
  13. The biggest thing going for the defense to overcome Suggs' loss is stability at D Coordinator. Pees has gotten very used to working short-handed, and I think he's done very well.
  14. Well, it never would have come down to that if Steve Smith had caught the game-winning TD pass that went through his hands and bounced off his face mask.
  15. Get it together Ravens. I'm actually more optimistic than pessimistic about the rest of the season after yesterday's game (despite the loss of Suggs). If the defense uses Sizzle's injury as a rallying cry and motivation to step up, they can do very well this season. The offense...well, EVERYONE on that side of the ball needs to wake up, or it's going to be a painful season. Yesterday's performance by Flacco & the boys was terrible.
  16. The defense as a whole did a remarkable job against a lethal offense. Not many defenses hold Peyton Manning to ZERO touchdown passes and less than 200 yards. Still, these are the kinds of WINNABLE games that the Ravens cannot afford to lose. Games like these are what make the difference between playing in January on the road or at home. Still lots of time to right the ship, but the Ravens can't afford to drop pick-6's and game-winning TD passes that hit guys right in the hands.
  17. Even at 31, Jennings is a better option at CB than any of the 4 CBs you just listed.
  18. I (and I'm sure many others) was thinking the same thing when I saw he'd been released last night. It certainly couldn't hurt.
  19. It probably wouldn't hurt to sign a serviceable veteran WR who gets cut in the next week. Just sayin'. 3 of the Ravens projected starters behind Smith Sr (Campanaro, Perriman, Brown) have been dealing with injury issues to some degree already. Maybe they'll all be good to go by Week 1, but on the other hand it's good to have a contingency plan in case 1 or more are sidelined for a considerable amount of time. Neg me if you want (and I'm sure many of you will bc I'm playing devil's advocate), but the Ravens would be in a pretty bad spot if Aiken or (heaven forbid) Smith Sr went down.
  20. What a frustrating situation for Perriman and the fans. It's usually not a good sign when recovery timelines keep getting pushed further and further back. We've gone from "a couple days" to "maybe next week", and now basically the doctors are saying "we have no idea." I'm not expecting (at this point) an announcement that Breshad will be IR'd or PUPd, but at the same time I wouldn't be surprised if that happens. Here's keeping fingers crossed big time that our current WRs can stay healthy.
  21. Easy, champ. No need to get so defensive.
  22. That first sentence of yours is pretty bold. I can all but guarantee that John Harbaugh cares about each preseason game. Not only does he have a life, but he certainly isn't crazy.
  23. The end result in Philly didn't matter, and as long as there is at least SOME improvement this Saturday then even individual performances aren't that big of a deal. However, the absences by several key players (Campanaro, Webb), and the injuries that piled up during the game are cause for some concern. We'll see how everything shakes out on the 13th of September. It looks like Buck Allen and Darren Waller may get some significant reps much earlier than they may have dreamed. Best of luck to them and here's hoping Taliaferro and Perriman heal sooner rather than later. Go Ravens!
  24. "Perriman did watch some of practice from the sidelines, which he usually doesn't do in Baltimore." He hasn't been watching the team practice until now? Perriman's learning curve is going to be awfully steep as it is when(ever) he gets back. Going to practices and observing how things work in the NFL would definitely help him get a feel for how the team does things. IDK- to me it's pretty discouraging to read that, until now, he hasn't even been on the sidelines to watch the team practice. But to end on a positive note- I'm very glad Campanaro is doing great things and I think Carl Davis is going to be a beast. Go Ravens!
  25. Those of you downplaying the Perriman injury and saying it's not issue...it's at the point where (although painful) you have to taste the bitter pill of reality. Sorry, but I agree with Eisenberg- his injury IS an issue. Not saying he can't overcome it eventually, but when your first round pick misses almost all of training camp and there's no definitive timetable for his return- that is an issue.
