  1. "Bust"...well, probably not bc it's too early. Reason to be worried- Yes. Perriman is known primarily for being really, really fast. The fact that it was a knee ligament/hamstring injury that derailed his entire rookie training camp, preseason and regular season is concerning. And, until/unless he proves that he hasn't lost a step, many (perhaps most) fans will be nervously holding their breath to see how much of a lingering effect that mysterious, serious injury will have.
  2. I thought once we got rid of Asa Jackson we wouldn't have to deal with this kind of bone-headed nonsense, at least not for a few years. Thanks, Nick.
  3. It's not all on Joe. Lets get that straight. Our offensive line was shaken up. Yanda and KO was the only consistent starter hence the reason why we need to do everything we can to retain KO. Even if that means reconstructing Monroe's contract because he's been very durable for us and he can move up and down the line. You can't let a quality player like that go and if history states anything, Ravens rarely let that happen. In order for Joe to utilize his mechanics, he needs protection and if he's not getting protected, he WILL throw off his back foot, sacked, throw INT, force passes and not see defenders sitting in throwing lanes. Maybe it's not all on Joe, but most of the blame is on him. You cannot deny that he regressed (for example, his QBR was the lowest of his career). His protection was better than any one of his first 6 seasons but he still was on pace to match his career high in INTs. His receiving corps was less than stellar, but an 8-year veteran should be able to figure out how to get the most out of his receivers. It's at least admirable that he was able to complete a high percentage of passes. I've grown pretty weary of people who are quick to deflect blame off Joe when he does poorly. Give credit where credit is due, but you also need to point the finger at the QB when the offense sputters.
  4. The Dennis Pitta situation reminds me a lot of what the Orioles went through with Brian Roberts. Signed a monster contract after several good seasons then winds up missing virtually all of the next 3-4 years due to injury, but is kept on the roster in hopes he might one day regain his form. I love what Dennis has done for the team and realize that, like Roberts, is a good presence in the locker room, but just like Roberts he is going to end up costing the Ravens a bunch of money. Just an unfortunate situation- in both cases.
  5. I'm all for Stanley. Joe needs protection, Monroe is unreliable, and we're probably gonna lose Osemele. Plus, we know Stanley is a team player (stayed for his senior season), and Notre Dame has a proven record of producing solid O Linemen- most recently 2X Pro Bowler Zach Martin.
  6. Yes, the Ravens have done very well under Harbaugh- 6 of his 8 seasons have resulted in a postseason appearance. On the other hand, they've failed to make the postseason 2 of the last 3 years, landing over 30 combined players on IR the last two years. The last time the Ravens finished 5-11 in 2007, some big changes were made. I'm not saying fire Harbaugh (heck no), but like the end of the 2007 season, some major changes do need to be made. Over 30 players on IR over the last two years- ALARMING! That's not just bad luck- that's a disturbing trend. Also- I know Ozzie hates to sign playmaking FAs because he loves his comp picks. However, (especially recently) how many times have we been one or two big plays away from winning a game, only to suffer through an excruciating loss b/c an inexperienced or mediocre player didn't come through in the clutch? It might be well worth bucking the trend and considering signing a playmaker in free agency. Just my two cents.
  7. Unlike Kiper, I wouldn't say (yet) that Perriman has all the talent in the world. He has all kinds of potential, but until he proves what he can do on the field there's no way to tell if that boatload of talent is there or not. Right now all we really know is that he was really, really fast coming out of college. Unfortunately, a knee injury that is serious enough to derail an entire rookie season may well have adverse effects on speed. It stinks that we have to wait about 7 months to find out.
  8. "If we get Sizzle back in full power, we'll be okay..." I agree, but that is one pretty big IF. He's coming off a 2nd achilles tear in 4 years, and he'll turn 34 next season. Zadarius Smith gives good reason for optimism so he's at least a decent alternative. I'm not pinning a whole lotta hope on Suggs returning to form.
  9. I really wanted to see Carolina win just because I utterly despise John Elway. Man, I can't stand that guy.
  10. One of the biggest issues the Ravens have is that they cannot keep their players healthy. This was the second straight season where the Ravens ranked near the top of the league in players on IR. That's a disturbing trend. If Baltimore can't keep their guys healthy, it really doesn't matter who gets drafted/signed in the offseason. When you play without your top WR, starting QB, #1 draft pick, and top defensive player (just to name a few key players), you're going to wind up with a 5-11 record and far, far away from the postseason. Maybe a bigger issue this offseason than looking at the secondary and receivers should be taking a close look at the personnel who make up the strength & conditioning and medical staffs. I'm not sure exactly what the problem is, I just hope it gets fixed between now and September.
  11. Please stop with the different "How we're gonna get Miller" scenarios and headlines. Denver won't let him go and even if they did everyone knows we don't sign high-priced Free Agents. It ain't gonna happen. Man, the offseason stinks.
  12. Dear God, I hope we don't use the number 6 overall pick on a Wide Receiver. The evidence is plain that 1st round Ravens Wide Receivers just don't work out well.Travis Taylor & Mark Clayton never amounted to anything (certainly NOT 1st round talent), and Perriman's already missed an entire training camp, preseason, and regular season, all without even participating in full contact drills. I'm not giving up on the guy, but he has a long way to go and a lot to prove. Ozzie is great, but it appears that Wide Receivers are his draft Achilles heel (with the obvious exception of Torrey Smith, who was let go after 4 years anyway?!) I hope Ozzie sticks with defense or O Line for his 1st round selection. Those are the positions where he (typically) does best. Here's hoping we end up with another Reed, Lewis, Ogden, or Suggs. The Ravens are way overdue for a spectacular, All-Pro calibre draft pick and there really won't be any excuse if we don't knock this year's picks outta the park (definitely rounds 1 and 2). Go Ravens.
  13. Sorry guys, but Tucker did not earn a trip to the Pro Bowl this year. Lay off the purple kool aid for awhile.
  14. At least with Frazier, you can't deny that this is a step in the right direction. When he was the Eagles' DB coach, he took their secondary from a middle-of-the-road group to a secondary that ranked in the top 10 each year he was the DB coach. Given how bad the secondary has been each of the last two years, the Ravens need all the help they can get.
  15. Earloads of draft speculation...for the next 15 weeks. Ugggghhhhh.....
  16. Wow- lot's to be addressed in the coming months. Ravens are coming off a 5-11 season, there are two major UFAs who REALLY need to be retained (Tucker, Osemele), and there's the whole Flacco contract re-structuring that needs to be addressed also. It will be interesting to see how this all shakes out...
  17. Fix that abysmal -14 turnover differential, cut down on all the penalties, and above all: Keep our players healthy. When 15-20 guys end up on IR two years straight, you've gotta hold the medical staff and strength/conditioning guys accountable. That's not simply a case of bad luck. It doesn't really matter how much talent you have on the roster if half of them can't take the field.
  18. Agreed- this is the year that the Ravens need to knock it out of the park with their draft picks. However, I'd say that we need more impact players on offense than defense. Of course, if 15-20 of the guys end up on IR for the 3rd straight season, it's not going to matter who we draft. I think the FO needs to take a closer look at the guys on our medical staff, as well as the strength & conditioning coaches. The Ravens are showing an alarming trend of ranking near the top of the league in season-ending injuries. You can't just chalk that up to bad luck when it happens repeatedly.
  19. If the Steelers or Patriots are in the SB this year, I'm going to have to call Stanley Steamer to clean the vomit up off my carpet.
  20. Perriman was EXPECTED to be back at training camp within a week of his initial injury, then he was EXPECTED to play in the regular season at some point. Obviously, neither of those expectations was accurate. I know the season is over and there's really nothing else to write about until late April, but any time I hear projections or expectations about Perriman, I have to take them with a grain of salt.
  21. Anyone except the Steelers or Patriots. I despise both of those teams and their fans.
  22. Let's hope that the terrible Ravens injury trend of the last 2 seasons doesn't carry over into 2016. If we wind up with 20 guys on IR next season then it really won't matter who the Ravens take with the #6 pick.
  23. Yeah, but I'll take Mosley ANY DAY over that hot-head.
  24. ...And that's the game, folks. Bengals won't relinquish an 12-point lead, and the Ravens offense is falling flat this half. At least we'll get a higher draft pick. April 28th is such darn long time to wait though...
  25. Way to open the 2nd half, guys. That's the type of play that can completely swing the momentum of this game. Especially if the Bengals score a TD now, instead of a FG.
