wow.... i am seeing a lot of negativity.... i get frustration but reality is that we are 1 game behind Pittsburgh. We will get healthier. They now need to play the Patriots without Big Jen. if we win this week and they lose (good chance of that) we are tied for 1st place and that is with a QB who is coming off of a knee surgery, a change at OC, a 38 year old WR coming off of an Achilles, and starting two rookie OL.

We went 3-1 in the first quarter of the season.... we are currently 0-2 in the second quarter. If we can go 2-2 in this quarter and 2-2 in the remaining two that leaves us at 9-7 and a chance to get in.

If we start to gel and come together a little... we should be able to win 10 games. We still control our own destiny..... we haven't been blown out of any game like Pittsburgh was with Philly. We haven't gotten physically manhandled and had the balll ran down our throats like Pittsburgh did vs the Dolphins. We dont have 4 loses already like the Bengals. We are not the browns. There is still a lot to build on.

If Harbs can get Pees out of the bend but dont break mentality... and we can gel under Marty.... WE still have a legitimate run at this. (Every loss we have had this year has been by 1 drive or heck even 1 play) we need to stop beating ourselves and grow up as a team and we will be fine!

There sure is a awful lot of "if" in that post. John, is that you?

the best thing that could happen to this team would to lose the rest of the games and select a top rated QB.one that doen't blow hot and cold and thats not a 9-5 QB then our defense wouldn't break down trying to play the perfect game every week.too much pressure on this defense to win the game,WEDDLE puts in alot of hours for this team and it shows, but they can't do it every week.

If you think qb is the problem you must not watch a lot of football.

Im hearing that suggs is done- god I hope not. I don't want to see him go out like that. Even though he's not as quick as he once was he was still racking up the sacks. And he's the last player from the ray/ed era ....him being gone means those days are officially over and I'm just not ready for that. We need his swag.

Whatever the case this season  is becoming eerily similar to 2012 ..

I watch a lot of football. HS, college and NFL. QB is not a problem? Seriously? Joe over-threw Wallace by 10 feet more than once and wasn't being pressured. Admit it that Joe is at least, part of the problem. I too, wonder if Suggs is done. But his swagger is obviously not enough for a team with not enough stars and little depth.
But I have to ask: How is the world do you compare this year to 2012? The record? Their play? I see a team with no identity, a coach being conservative when the situation begs for imagination but risking momentum and points when the offense can't score and a team with few play makers. So how is this team like 2012?

  3. "As the Ravens look to correct the problems they saw against the Giants, Harbaugh said they will consider several options. That could include shaking up the lineup or bringing in new players like they have done in past years."
Shaking up the lineup? With who? Everyone is dropping like flies. Bring in who? Someone's reject?
Can we finally just admit it that the Ravens are rebuilding and need a few years of successful drafts to be competitive again? Oh, the way the Ravens draft? Maybe 5 years....

  4. It's really interesting that the drafts in the 4 years since the SB have been worse than any other stretch in the team's history, and this with only ONE winning season in that span. That leads me to believe Harbs is exerting his influence more as a SB-winning coach.

My head hurts just trying to understand what this means and how you came up with it. Ozzie is ultimately responsible for the draft. Yes Harbs gets credit for a SB. So does Flacco. The former, in going for it on 4th down again, conceivably lost the game for the second straight week. The latter is working on getting our new OC fired.

At one point in time the way to succeed in the NFL was to not sign free agents, let your free agents walk, gather as many draft picks as you can and use those draft picks wisely. That whole mentality hinges on taking the best advantage of those draft picks as you can. We haven't been doing that. Another thing is there are only 53 roster spots. It makes absolutely no sense to have 13 draft picks when only 6 or 7 will actually make the team, if that many. That means you passed up on free agent players to save a few picks that don't turn into quality players and you have to cut. Or the team didn't make trades and trade away those draft picks that would have been cut anyway so we get nothing for those slots. This draft was the first in awhile that we actually acquired a number of good players but even so, we still cut 5 or 6 of the draft picks that we valued so heavily. What sense does that make?

I say that because at this point there are alot of teams out there who are already out of it and looking to next year. We should consider doing a number of trades to strengthen the O-line and strengthen our secondary. Its going to cost a developmental player or two and a couple of those draft picks that Ozzie likes so much, but the strategy that worked for so long when we had a good core of players isn't working anymore because that core is gone. We are in rebuilding mode, even if no one else will admit it. If we want to turn that around into being a competitive team, we are going to have to do some dealing and pick up some other players. Dumpster diving for players that other teams have discarded isn't going to make a super bowl team. Sorry to tell you all that.

Um, little thing called the salary cap kinda gets in the way of your plans...that and the fact that football is not like baseball, there is very little movement involving trades. In fact, with the exception of during the draft, almost no teams trade players. And if you do trade, you're talking about giving up relatively cheap draft picks for expensive veterans...leading back to the salary cap.

I can't argue with you about the Raven's recent draft woes...but to say we are in a rebuilding mode is nonsense. There are a lot of talented players on this team. It's getting them to play to the best of their ability that needs more work, and probably the main reason Trestman was fired (I never liked that the Raven's hired him, honestly. I figured it was more a FO move than a Harb's decision, possibly why the two seemed to lack chemistry).

Although you make some interesting (and valid) points, building a team through trades never has been or will be an option in the NFL. Likewise, any team that tries to build through agressive free agency always runs into the salary cap wall, and crashes and burns usually leaving them in a worse situation then when they started.

Like it or not, the only true way to build and keep a consistently competitive team is through good drafting and very liberable free agent spending. Not only do the Raven's follow this path, but teams like the Pats, Squeelers, Packers, Seahawks, ect. follow this plan. Another words, the teams that are consistently in the play-offs and win championships. Unfortunately, the Raven's last few drafts have not been up to par, which is leaving us slightly more vulnerable than is usually comfortable, and why we were more involved in the free agent market than normal. This year's draft seems to be leaning towards a better class, so I don't forsee us changing our policy any time soon.

You say the Ravens are not in rebuilding mode. Is that you Harbs? The Ravens have little depth, as they are now dumpster diving just to have bodies. Many of the so called stars on this team are older. And as for the draft; what recent Ravens draftees do fans come out to see? Yes, they are in rebuilding mode and are not nearly done. If this team doesn't turn things around, more coaching changes are likely and more new faces will be on the squad next year.

  6. How about special teams? Who's going to get fired for that? Then there are those gambles where we leave points on the field. Who's going to get fired for that? This is a very deep team problem. Head coaches do get burned out.

Great. The offense stinks. Fire the OC coordinator. The special teams play stunk. Fire the ST coach. The team doesn't make good adjustments in-game. Fire the HC. So who is going to coach the team? If everyone needs to be fired for poor execution where will the geniuses come from? At least I haven't heard any "fire Pees" for a couple of weeks.....

Nah, I am far from 1k post but read and like most peoples post everyday lol im actually shocked how many people stopped liking posts once we changed into this new format.

I'm virtually all mobile on this site and still occasionally use the like/dislikes.

Was just venting a little after seeing nothing but fire him, cut him, world's on fire after 2 loses lol

The team kind of set this up after having several years of success, some dont realize how hard it is to sustain success in the NFL

    ....Unless you are Bill Belicheat.

  8. CJ I still think it was a great catch. Hey, all your other interceptions this year have been awesome. I can see where you wanted to get the TD, get the score. It was a mistake but I could see what you were trying to do it just went wrong. As players you train and train to take the play as far as possible, into the endzone if possible...I understand how it happened you "tried" for that extra yardage. I don't see it as a stupid play, it was more a matter of split second decision that got away from you.

And it IS a stupid rule. What the rule should be is ruled a fumble on 1 yard line but Ravens maintain possession due to the initial interception and run back.

How? I have to disagree with you.The fumble went into the end zone and then out of bounds. Had the ball gone straight out of bounds and not into the end zone, the ball would have been Ravens ball. How is that sequence "stupid"?

we had a fast start and then fizzled out as the 1st qtr. progressed. We frittered away the whole game after the first qtr. and waited again til the last 7 min. of the game to really try to get something going. Too little, too late! Play-calling is definitely a problem. It seems we were taking what the gave us instead of taking what we want. We too many underneath passes that killed our drives...short of the sticks. Too many dropped passes again. Last week it was Aiken who dropped a back-breaking pass, this week it was Perriman. Flacco had another off day...over-throwing and under-throwing passes probably because he wasn't getting any protection from the O-line (heard footsteps). And Joe only scrambles or moves around in the pocket when things are dire and teams can game-plan on Flacco being a stationery QB for the most part. I said it before and I'll say it again, we seem to be playing like we did 3 yrs ago...where we give the game away in the last minute or so by allowing splash plays or letting an inferior opponent hang around til the end of the game, giving them hope. We have a lot of raw talent that needs to be more disciplined (mental penalties) and more focused. Our team failed to go deep when we had the ball, but Cousins wasn't hesitant at all. As the 2nd half progressed Cousins confidence grew and he started going deep whenever he wanted without fear of interception. Again this week, like last week, our receivers kept running short of the sticks which plays into the opponents hands. Why run short of the sticks when you know it won't result in a 1st down. I get it... you hope the receiver can get YAC, but that never seems to happen with us unless SSS is the receiver. The plan needs to be to get beyond the sticks then cut your route short and make the catch and give you offense a chance to establish a rhythm or get a 1st down. Then the other thing, like the commentator pointed out, is that our defenders seem to be playing too far off their man...giving them too much room to fake a deep route and then suddenly turn it up short for a first down. I know this was a long post, but there's a lot I see us doing wrong week in and week out...some are repeat mistakes.

This is not school yard football. You just don't run a route where you want to. Plays are designed to attack certain defense alignments in certain situations. On 3rd & Long, the primary Wrs run routes past the 1st down marker, which leaves underneath open. So, if Flacco only has 2.3 seconds to make a decision, Wallace & Perriman were never open, his O-line is crashing, he's going to throw the ball to the open receiver underneath if that's Juice, Gilmore, etc. Almost every pass play in the NFL has a deep route, an intermediate route, a short route and a checkdown. It's up to the primary WR to get open (Wallace & Perriman were not) then it's up to the QB to read the route (or go to the next progression) and then it's up to the O-line to give him the time and then the QB has to make the throw. Good O-lines typically give the QB 3-4 seconds to make that happen. Ours is not. ZERO offenses can be successful if you are only giving your QB 2.5 seconds - I don't care who is calling the plays.

Well said. And don't forget our D-line is getting zero pressure on the QB as he picks apart the secondary. Opposing QB's have 5-6 seconds to throw the ball. Joe has 2-3. No wonder the Ravens are losing.

Yea, fire the head coach of a 3-2 team currently second in the division, Who's only had one losing season, mainly because of injuries. Fire the head coach who 6 of 8 yrs has had us in the playoffs and never eliminated in the first round. Fire Harbaugh on top of a new OC so we have no consistency, and we all start over and be run completely differently. Good head coaches are hard to come by, just ask the Browns. We fire Harbs and what does that solve.....? Fire Trestman and upgrade the O-line is all we have to do. We are severely overreacting, and taken things too far. The simple choice is the best, and firing Harbs and Oz, and benching Flacco is not simple or logical

I'm not sure the calls for heads are really calls for heads today. I think history has demonstrated that little good comes from in-season changes. The Ravens were extremely lucky (in many ways) to win a super bowl after firing their OC but I think I am not alone when I say, that there should be some coaching vacancy's if this team continues to digress. The offense under Harbaugh has ranked at 18th (based on yards, over his tenure) while this is not at all good, the fact that they are currently worse than that should at least throw a cloud over his future.

Excessive thoughtless penalties, poor special teams and a team that is at home and looked flat for much of the day. Much of that is as much coaching as the players. This team is 3-2 against a very weak schedule. If there isn't a very quick turn-around in on the field play by the Ravens supposed leaders, many will already be talking draft picks for next year. Do think so? Besides Oakland, the Ravens haven't played a good team and made these bad teams look good.

  11. Justin was a class act on and off the field with a work ethic beyond reproach.  Sorry to see him go but I do thank Justin for all he has done for this team, the Baltimore Community and communities beyond.  Wishing you the best of luck in all your future endeavors Justin!

Honestly, I must say that something about this just doesn't sit right with me, something just doesn't fit.  With the situation occurring earlier where it appeared that Justin tried to help the organization out in an agreement btw he and the F.O.,  Justin was the best pass protecting RB as admitted by the team, West received only five carries in the first half. With 11 mins. left in the 2nd quarter the longest run of the season was 21 yrds by West and he didn't touch the pigskin again until the third quarter, that makes Harbaugh's comments about Justin after the Oakland loss even stranger, lol. ( http://bit.ly/1j1xUT1 ) Sometimes I wish this organization would just shoot it straight!

Shoot straight? Seriously? This is a copycat league and Hoodie doesn't shoot straight, so Harbs won't either.... Until a new and improved way of dealing with the public and media comes to fruition.

Just knew that going for two in the second quarter, when it was totally unnecessary, would come back to haunt them. Can we ALL finally admit Flacco sucks.

No we can't. Just another fair weather fan!!!!

No. Joe doesn't suck. He just isn't elite. Winners win that game. Joe made some awful throws on that last drive. Get it?

  13. "....but the passing game fell flat at midfield and the Ravens came up short."
Yep. As long as Joe keep throwing off his back foot, expect bad throws from time to time. He just doesn't look comfortable in the pocket. Not that having Zuttah, Jensen and Hurst would instill any degree of comfort level....
Ravens didn't quit, but still have a long way to go to compete against the best in the NFL.

  14. I also hear.. key players like Yanda are not to happy with Trestmans blocking scheme and are pushing back. They want the old scheme back. And to that I say good. You dont take a All Pro G and all of a sudden start running Oregon style run game, tosses, sweeps, bs.. No.. you go with whats worked for decades&what worked with kubiak..Put a Fullback in the game.. put a RB in the game.. 2 TEs and run the ball from under center, or shotgun

And when your significant other cooks a "marginal" meal, what do you say? "You screwed it up. Too high an over temperature, too much salt, lacks taste..." Some people are never happy I guess.
