  1. "....our defense can hang in there against anybody." The Ravens haven't played an upper echelon team yet. The one reasonable team was Oakland and look what happened and now OBJ just torched the secondary. I rest my case. Not enough playmakers, no depth and yes, the defense can't hang with the better teams.
  2. If you think qb is the problem you must not watch a lot of football. Im hearing that suggs is done- god I hope not. I don't want to see him go out like that. Even though he's not as quick as he once was he was still racking up the sacks. And he's the last player from the ray/ed era ....him being gone means those days are officially over and I'm just not ready for that. We need his swag. Whatever the case this season is becoming eerily similar to 2012 .. I watch a lot of football. HS, college and NFL. QB is not a problem? Seriously? Joe over-threw Wallace by 10 feet more than once and wasn't being pressured. Admit it that Joe is at least, part of the problem. I too, wonder if Suggs is done. But his swagger is obviously not enough for a team with not enough stars and little depth. But I have to ask: How is the world do you compare this year to 2012? The record? Their play? I see a team with no identity, a coach being conservative when the situation begs for imagination but risking momentum and points when the offense can't score and a team with few play makers. So how is this team like 2012?
  3. That one armed sack was impressive. Not a lot of 30 somethings can do that. Hope it's not a biceps tear.
  4. "As the Ravens look to correct the problems they saw against the Giants, Harbaugh said they will consider several options. That could include shaking up the lineup or bringing in new players like they have done in past years." Shaking up the lineup? With who? Everyone is dropping like flies. Bring in who? Someone's reject? Can we finally just admit it that the Ravens are rebuilding and need a few years of successful drafts to be competitive again? Oh, the way the Ravens draft? Maybe 5 years....
  5. John "go for it on 4th" Harbaugh. I like it..... Who is the new head coach?
  6. Yeah. You are right. Pees isn't good as pass rushing. Neither are any other Ravens.
  7. My head hurts just trying to understand what this means and how you came up with it. Ozzie is ultimately responsible for the draft. Yes Harbs gets credit for a SB. So does Flacco. The former, in going for it on 4th down again, conceivably lost the game for the second straight week. The latter is working on getting our new OC fired.
  8. Um, little thing called the salary cap kinda gets in the way of your plans...that and the fact that football is not like baseball, there is very little movement involving trades. In fact, with the exception of during the draft, almost no teams trade players. And if you do trade, you're talking about giving up relatively cheap draft picks for expensive veterans...leading back to the salary cap. I can't argue with you about the Raven's recent draft woes...but to say we are in a rebuilding mode is nonsense. There are a lot of talented players on this team. It's getting them to play to the best of their ability that needs more work, and probably the main reason Trestman was fired (I never liked that the Raven's hired him, honestly. I figured it was more a FO move than a Harb's decision, possibly why the two seemed to lack chemistry). Although you make some interesting (and valid) points, building a team through trades never has been or will be an option in the NFL. Likewise, any team that tries to build through agressive free agency always runs into the salary cap wall, and crashes and burns usually leaving them in a worse situation then when they started. Like it or not, the only true way to build and keep a consistently competitive team is through good drafting and very liberable free agent spending. Not only do the Raven's follow this path, but teams like the Pats, Squeelers, Packers, Seahawks, ect. follow this plan. Another words, the teams that are consistently in the play-offs and win championships. Unfortunately, the Raven's last few drafts have not been up to par, which is leaving us slightly more vulnerable than is usually comfortable, and why we were more involved in the free agent market than normal. This year's draft seems to be leaning towards a better class, so I don't forsee us changing our policy any time soon. You say the Ravens are not in rebuilding mode. Is that you Harbs? The Ravens have little depth, as they are now dumpster diving just to have bodies. Many of the so called stars on this team are older. And as for the draft; what recent Ravens draftees do fans come out to see? Yes, they are in rebuilding mode and are not nearly done. If this team doesn't turn things around, more coaching changes are likely and more new faces will be on the squad next year.
  9. “I don’t see a slump. I don’t see any confidence lacking,” Rosburg said. “He’s a great returner and he’s going to go.” I guess this is code for "Devin is not performing and needs to step up if he wants to remain a Raven".
  10. Great. The offense stinks. Fire the OC coordinator. The special teams play stunk. Fire the ST coach. The team doesn't make good adjustments in-game. Fire the HC. So who is going to coach the team? If everyone needs to be fired for poor execution where will the geniuses come from? At least I haven't heard any "fire Pees" for a couple of weeks.....
  11. I'm virtually all mobile on this site and still occasionally use the like/dislikes. Was just venting a little after seeing nothing but fire him, cut him, world's on fire after 2 loses lol The team kind of set this up after having several years of success, some dont realize how hard it is to sustain success in the NFL ....Unless you are Bill Belicheat.
  12. How? I have to disagree with you.The fumble went into the end zone and then out of bounds. Had the ball gone straight out of bounds and not into the end zone, the ball would have been Ravens ball. How is that sequence "stupid"?
  13. So Harb's decision to do the fake FG backfires and he is a goat. The play works and he is a genius. Such is life with the media and fans. Those griping are the same ones complaining that the Ravens are too vanilla. Too funny.
  14. This is not school yard football. You just don't run a route where you want to. Plays are designed to attack certain defense alignments in certain situations. On 3rd & Long, the primary Wrs run routes past the 1st down marker, which leaves underneath open. So, if Flacco only has 2.3 seconds to make a decision, Wallace & Perriman were never open, his O-line is crashing, he's going to throw the ball to the open receiver underneath if that's Juice, Gilmore, etc. Almost every pass play in the NFL has a deep route, an intermediate route, a short route and a checkdown. It's up to the primary WR to get open (Wallace & Perriman were not) then it's up to the QB to read the route (or go to the next progression) and then it's up to the O-line to give him the time and then the QB has to make the throw. Good O-lines typically give the QB 3-4 seconds to make that happen. Ours is not. ZERO offenses can be successful if you are only giving your QB 2.5 seconds - I don't care who is calling the plays. Well said. And don't forget our D-line is getting zero pressure on the QB as he picks apart the secondary. Opposing QB's have 5-6 seconds to throw the ball. Joe has 2-3. No wonder the Ravens are losing.
  15. I'm not sure the calls for heads are really calls for heads today. I think history has demonstrated that little good comes from in-season changes. The Ravens were extremely lucky (in many ways) to win a super bowl after firing their OC but I think I am not alone when I say, that there should be some coaching vacancy's if this team continues to digress. The offense under Harbaugh has ranked at 18th (based on yards, over his tenure) while this is not at all good, the fact that they are currently worse than that should at least throw a cloud over his future. Excessive thoughtless penalties, poor special teams and a team that is at home and looked flat for much of the day. Much of that is as much coaching as the players. This team is 3-2 against a very weak schedule. If there isn't a very quick turn-around in on the field play by the Ravens supposed leaders, many will already be talking draft picks for next year. Do think so? Besides Oakland, the Ravens haven't played a good team and made these bad teams look good.
  16. Flacco vs. Cousins? Since when do QB's play all 22 positions? What can a QB do to win a game? Manage the game. Scoring TD's instead of FG's. Eat up the clock and lead the team down the field for a winning score. There are not that many QB's who do that consistently. Wish the Raven's QB would have done that last week....
  17. Shoot straight? Seriously? This is a copycat league and Hoodie doesn't shoot straight, so Harbs won't either.... Until a new and improved way of dealing with the public and media comes to fruition.
  18. No we can't. Just another fair weather fan!!!! No. Joe doesn't suck. He just isn't elite. Winners win that game. Joe made some awful throws on that last drive. Get it?
  19. "....but the passing game fell flat at midfield and the Ravens came up short." Yep. As long as Joe keep throwing off his back foot, expect bad throws from time to time. He just doesn't look comfortable in the pocket. Not that having Zuttah, Jensen and Hurst would instill any degree of comfort level.... Ravens didn't quit, but still have a long way to go to compete against the best in the NFL.
  20. I am out of Rolaids. I don't know if I can take another nail biter this week. The Ravens and their fans need a comfortable win tomorrow.
  21. I think people need to temper their thoughts that Dixon will be that "savior". In time, maybe. But it's not like he is in game shape yet. He will be eased in. Also, he is not as good in picking up blitzes as Forsett and even West. I do see him being the Raven's #1 back someday, just not in a few weeks....
  22. And when your significant other cooks a "marginal" meal, what do you say? "You screwed it up. Too high an over temperature, too much salt, lacks taste..." Some people are never happy I guess.
  23. A little Jernigan. A little Williams. A little Sizzle. Boy is going to earn his pay this Sunday.
  24. Yea we were really close to beating Oakland last year and this year it should be a cake walk. Oakland is a terrible terrible terrible team. It really is selfish of KO to take the money. Players need to focus on winning Superbowls, not getting paid. If a guy has played in any pro sports leagues at any point in his life time, he set for life. And injuries are never a problem in the NFL. Even if KO does sustain a career ending injury on Sunday, he won't have to worry about is finances because all of the money in that Oakland contract is guaranteed. Maybe they have a "terrible" defense, but even that isn't the case as they faced N.O. and ATL. Tennessee didn't do much. I will wait to make judgements after the game. The Ravens have faced nobody except JAX. We will see what the #2 defense in the NFL does against the #2 offense in the NFL. So. Terrible team? Not a shot. This will not be a cake walk. Rarely do the Ravens make life easy. I'll take the win, take heartburn medicine and revel that they are 4-0.
  25. Even the Mrs was impressed with the blocked kick play. Williams is a beast. Glad to see some of the draft picks paying dividends. Just in time for a nice run.
