  1. Xavius Boyd has a Great shot at making this team. Jackson got more attention, but Boyd was the better LB at WKU.

I'm also excited for Terrance Bullitt. He has a chance to convert to strong safety imo and be a Kam Chancellor type.

I really like what I've seen from him so far. I noticed they were calling him a linebacker and safety. Do you think he'd be able to play SS at such a high weight of 230 pounds?

  2. Jacoby Jones is a playmaking returner who can fill in at receiver in a pinch, but he doesn't have the skill set to be a starting wide receiver.

If catching the ball and making plays isn't the skill set to be a starting wide receiver, then I don't know what is. He even made improvements on a lot of aspects of his game. Short/mid catches, catching style, route running.

  3. Everyone who is hating should answer this question....

Other than JJ who is on our roster that is a playmaker on offense and ST?

People seem to forget that he is actually a pretty good wide receiver. I've said this 100 times and I'll say it again. Whenever he has the ball in his hands, there is a legitimate chance for him to go all the way for a touchdown.

  4. There is a difference between bringing him back to give him a shot and inking him in as a starting ILB next to Brown (who really wasn't a starter last year either).

I fully expect to see us let him come back and see if he is serious about turning things around. As you say, with his tiny contract, there is little risk in that.

However, there is huge risk in saying that we don't need to bring Smith back (or someone else in his stead) because of Rolando's return. That is tantamount to saying he's our starter, or is at least going to be counted on as a guy who can be a significant contributor.

I just think there are other options if Daryl Smith doesn't return. McClain isn't a main option, but anything can happen. The position should have more depth and I expect Ozzie to get more depth.

  5. There seems to be a lot of people fantasizing about McClain returning to the game and being a solid starter game 1. Look - it could happen ... but there is no way in the world that the team is going to bank on that. To think we'd cut Jameel, let Smith walk and stand pat, simply because Rolando is coming back to the game is foolishness. If we can't come to terms with Smith, we're going to find another option to add to the position. We are simply too thin at that position.

I love redemption stories, though! But, seriously, I'm aware of that. I'd just like to see him turn his career around after turning his life around of course.

  6. Id put Mack over D.Smith. Look no team will be without a weakpoint. FOr us it might be MLB but we need this offensive line to do a 180.

If Daryl isn't re-signed and we got Mack instead, I don't think MLB would necessarily be a weak point with Rolando McClain coming back and Arthur Brown starting.

  7. Does anyone think there is a legitimate chance of getting both of them? The cap looks like it's going up even more and some of the bigger contracts like Ngata will not be there in later years. I think it's worth it, because being a winning team starts with the O-Line. Tough choices would have to be made, but if we only signed Pitta, Monroe and Mack and let the other bigger names walk, I can't say I'd be mad.

  8. How? isn't his price at least 10 mil? i'm confused.

    This is from NFL.com

The transition tag allows any team to negotiate with the top center on the market (once free agency opens Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET), but it also allows the Cleveland Browns an opportunity to match the offer.

It has been widely speculated that the Browns will go out of their way to hang onto their Pro Bowl center, who hasn't missed a snap in five years.

Mack's agent, Marvin Demoff, told TheMMQB.com's Peter King that he believes he could craft a contract that would be tough for the Browns to match.

"I'm confident we can come up with a structure that would have a reasonable likelihood to not be matched by the Browns -- and would be in full compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement," Demoff said Monday night.

So I think it doesn't necessarily have to be the price of the tag. We could make any offer and the Browns would have to match it,

  9. No we aren't getting Mike Evan's far to slow, we need a fast playmaking receiver, quick slot receivers can be found in later rounds

We already have fast playmaking receivers. Boldin already proved that you don't need speed to make plays. A lot of our receivers don't jump up and overpower people for the ball. That being said, I'd love for the Ravens to draft Mike Evans.
