IMO, you get quality help from FA to bolster the team NOW, regardless of age (e.g., Derrick Mason, Matt Birk, Corey Redding, Ricky Williams, Bryant McKinnie, on and on) A lot of guys we sign aren't young but help the team, nevertheless. You naturally get young through the draft.

Oz will find another Daryl Smith, Jim Leonard, Corey Graham, etc. Signing smaller-name gems can pay off as much as signing a big-name player, and at a much lower cost. Right player, right price.

Alex Mack would demand at least a $7 million per year contract. We were paying Matt Birk $925,000 during our Super Bowl year. Right player, right price.

I know a lot of Ravens fans dislike Michael Oher, but he has been a solid player for us at RT. He has had some great games. In 2011, Pro Football Focus ranked his performance against the Cardinals the best of any tackle the whole year. I wouldn't rule out him coming back, especially as the market quiets.

Corey Graham is gone? I guess that was sort of expected.

I can't help but think that Steve Smith is the prototypical Raven. It makes a lot of sense to go after him for the right price.

I wouldn't expect much movement by the Ravens immediately. Typically they wait for the frenzy to settle before pouncing. I do expect Monroe to resign today though.

I have a friend who's close to the organization and he's saying it will be Shannahan. Great news, in my opinion. It will be announced tomorrow.

It will be Kyle Shannahan. I just confirmed with a close friend of mine. It should be announced on Monday.

Hiring Kyle would bring everyone a sense of excitement, of something new. For the entire offense, I think it would be very refreshing. It really is a no-brainer. Hostler would be recycling old norms. We've seen what he has done with an offense when he was with the 49ers. I'm not even completely sold on him as a WR coach, just look at how many 1,000 yard receivers we have had since he's been here. The decision should come on Monday. I just hope it is good news.

I would be extremely disappointed if Hostler gets the job.
