I know but if you do it a year earlier it might save you some. Just throw out 10 yr 250 mil and see if he takes it. At least try.
I would like Harbaugh to watch tapes of guys like Belichick,McCormick,Arians,Carroll on when to go for 2,proper usage of timeouts and challenges and just better himself at situational football (like take pts or go for it).

Runs up the middle are the most common runs in the NFL so obviously it order to run it up the middle successfully and have a bully run game you need to be physical and demanding in the guard position, in the Ravens case they need to be more physical and beef up LG and C. Either Alex Lewis beef's himself up or they find someone else to do the job. In a power/run gap scheme, Alex Lewis is going to have to control his man/gap and play with much better leverage and lower the shoulders, among other things he'll have to do.
I certainly agree that Williams will cost more, but the Ravens have a hard earned tradition of stopping the run as a priority, never have the Ravens gave up 4.0YPC or above in the last 10 years. If it takes $8M-$9M to keep BW than I don't think they will pass on that. If a team massively overpays they probably won't bother. But let's also remind ourselves that BW is a run stopping specialist, not a pass rusher, all or most of the highest paid NT are players who can do both.
Wagner to me is a guy that Ravens view as an upper level RT, but not elite in that manner. Wagner does a great job of holding his own and making blocks, but I think the Ravens want to be more physical down there and push teams back, I don't think that's Wagner's forte.
Basically I'm just worried we'd be weakening a 3rd spot on the line and I'd like to see what Roman and whatever Oline coach we get can do and just too many changes cant be good for improving our run game and protecting Joe and right now staying consistent at the OT positions are more important than a NT where we do have some depth but I definitely understand your concerns.
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/326200-pees-to-step-down-as-pats-defensive-coordinator
Seemed like the last year he was there his defense blew some big leads but overall like he does here he has some top rated defenses. He just has troubles protecting a lead which is very concerning. I also have my doubts about him leaving on his own will but I cant prove it. Cant get any info on just 4th qtr collapses but I wasn't happy we didn't coffin corner kick him right out the door.

Idk but I thought out of all 3 teams that had the option St Louis fans deserved this the least. It'll be funny if the Chargers become the most popular team in LA. Kroenke's head would explode.
2 teams in LA is just pathetic. Heck should have moved to St Louis and killed the Chargers name.

Most of our TE's struggle with blocking... and i had hoped multiple TE sets would be a big part of our offense going into this past season.
Just made too much sense considering the depth we had at the position (even though it was ravaged by injuries), lack of depth at WR for the most part, and kind of the multiple nature of it since most of our TE's are good pass catchers as well. Hopefully its something we see a lot more of going forward.
If he can improve the blocking of guys like Maxx and Waller that would be something. Pitta to me if we keep him has to line up on the outside only. Another option to help the running game especially in short situations is the eligible oline guy. Roman is gonna bring a lot to our run game imo.
18 hours ago, PurpleCity5 said:That's of course under the assumption that we plan on keeping both of them. The presser is confusing because I had the impression that Wagner is staying and Williams is leaving but the reports said the complete opposite. It doesn't add up to me that they plan on keeping both. Either way, in the event that Wagner leaves and Williams stays I think that there couldn't be a better option at RT than Lewis. If both leave, then the team would have to do something via FA at the OL.
Of course, what we also know is that sometimes you have to take what Biscotti says as a bit of a grain of salt because the Ravens are even throwing smokescreens at pressers.
The Ravens view Wagner as a top RT, but I don't feel like they view him as an elite RT when his play has been up there with the best, I don't recall them putting him in that category. Will they be willing to pay him a $7-8M salary with BW on the block when the run D saw a complete collapse? I don't know, after thinking about it that's a very tough decision to make. Wagner's injuries could drop his value and make it very possible to keep both.
If I can keep both guys at a relatively close price in terms of a salary per year basis, then I'm keeping BW and using Wagner's money to improve the LG and rely on Lewis to step up at RT. Of course that's just my opinion but many of the top OLs are superior in three places, LT, Guard, and Center. That's just how I feel, maybe the Ravens want to be great across the board all over the OL.
Not fair to say 3 places and list 4 positions lol but I'm assuming you meaning RG which teams tend to run more that way. So in looking at LG and RT you have 2 completely different situations whereas LG needs to do multiple things like getting to the 2nd level, double teaming, straight blocking or being asked to pull while the RT is more basic in his assignments but a lot of times is left alone on an island either sealing off the edge or drive blocking for the running game and containg the outside on speedy passrushers in the passing game its just not the blind side.
I totally believe Williams is gonna price himself out cuz there's teams with much more money than we got and he's gonna get more than 10 mil a year. Don't kid yourself Wagner gonna be cheaper and probally can be had in the 6 mil range and at the end of the season we had 2 serious weak links in our oline and we need as much continuity as we can. Wagner imo is a do everything RT that's above average at everything and he needs a fair contract and we don't need a bidding war and Lewis can get a complete offseason running at guard but I'm just not sure if he should be a starter or be our 6th man. This is gonna be a very interesting offseason lol.
RIP David Modell. Thanks for everything you did for the fans and the city of Baltimore.
Congrats to Leslie Frazier but I didn't want to see him as DC here. Not with the Tampa 2 underneath mindset. To all the people that gave Frazier complete credit for the improvement in the turnover dept why is it on the players for the defenses 4th qtr collapses. I'm not saying Frazier wasn't a good DB coach cuz I believe he is and has most certainly helped but this is hypocrisy at its finest.
Hewitt may be a decent option but did he pick enough of Frazier's brain and gain the respect of our players and show improvement from 2 yrs ago.. Somebody mentioned Chuck Cecil earlier. Big fan. Could also be DC in waiting.
2 minutes ago, JoeyFlex5 said:how much time was left? i had to leave at halftime so i didnt see this part.
if a field goal absolutely puts the game away, meaning it becomes a 2 possession game without enough time left to score twice(barring a kick return td and successful onside kick and hail mary, which wouldve been needed in the phi game if we ran some clock and kicked the fg) then there is absolutely no reason.
if there is enough time for the opponent to legitimately make a run at a comeback, then you have to stay aggressive.
if we scored on that play then obviously theres nothing to complain about, and i get what youre saying, but... when that totally unnecessary and reckless call comes back to bite you, then it highlights all the reasons it was a bad call. even if we scored there, its a bad call simply because its unnecessary risk, but nobody cares because touchdown and what not.
the result doesnt make it a bad call, but the worst possible result highlights why that call shouldnt have been made.
It was a 10 pt lead with approx. 4 min left.

After 3 consecutive successful running plays that gained a total of 19 yards, the Packers proceed to throw the ball on 2nd and 5 from the 9 yardline and it's viewed as a great play call. Picture that. Almost the same exact situation that has many Ravens fans pissed at Marty and led to the worse call of all times saga, it was viewed as a great play call by McCarthy. So what's the difference? Is it because Flacco threw a Int and Rodgers completed his pass for a 1st down? Is it because they were up by 3 scores instead of 2? Or is it just a case of both offenses looking to deliver the kill shot to their opponent but the Ravens players failed to execute?
I never had a problem with the decision to throw the ball, just would have like a better play selection. But I'd be interested in hearing what some of you thought about McCarthy's decision to throw the ball in that situation
Exactly. Also in the Packer game no let up on defense. Strict man to man with deep safety coverage. Always stay aggressive.

His cover skills are through the roof, but he's shaky when the ball is in the air, not always playing the ball, and can get to scrappy at times. He could have been 1st round in another class, not this one. But he would be a great addition in round 2 as I believe Frazier can fix his problems.
Ive seen some LSU games and I really like him. Maybe a trade back. Does him in the 1st and Taco Charlton in the 2nd sound reasonable
Steelers. Ugh!
Lions. Something weird gonna happen here. Seahawks don't seem to have the same mojo.
Packers, Just seem to be on such a roll right now and they aint sleeping on the Giants. Jared Cook will be the difference maker.
Texans. I like the Raiders O better but that Texans D is righteus.
Can somebody give me an opinion of Tredavious White (LSU CB). Is he 1st rd talent? I see no mention of him at all.
Harbaugh is the captain and he'll go down with the ship. Glug.glug glug.

I believe it was mentioned that Leach himself help former offensive line coach Andy Moeller and former assistant offensive line coach Todd Washington understand some zone blocking concepts and The Ravens offensive line started moving in that direction..Of course The Ravens were still running the zone blocking scheme at times when Juan Castillo was introduced as The Ravens run game coordinator in 2013 but keep in mind Andy Moeller and Todd Washington were still on the staff. When Gary Kubiak was hired The Ravens offensive line definitively ran the zone blocking scheme alot more than in years past and when he left it wasn't used as much like in 2014.
Marshal Yanda himself has said they still run the zone blocking scheme but they don't run it as heavy like they did when Gary Kubiak was the offensive coordinator. I don't think Castilo is a idiot so I think he's smart enough to learn from Gary Kubiak about the zone blocking scheme but I doubt he's expert in it and to really answer your question why The Ravens have ran the zone blocking scheme in every year Castillo been here it's simple and it's because of John Harbaugh. The head coach has the finally say on what he likes and don't like but I believe John Harbaugh been a major fan of Gary Kubiak offense for quite awhile.
Castillo brought the zone blocking scheme to Baltimore period. Yanda was a big complainer of the change from power run scheme to zone block as were others.

http://baltimoresportsandlife.com/ravens-zone-blocking-scheme-whats-wrong/
While the Ravens may have used some sprinkles of the zone scheme during the beginning of Harbaughs years here when Castillo got here it became full blown out zone scheme all the time and our running game has suffered. When Kubiak came on he kept Castillo cuz of their same philosophies.
On free agency we resign all our ERFA's and RFA's. Its like 12 players. Might as well bring them back.
On our own FAs Id like to see Juice,Wagner,Guy,Elam and Levine resigned back mainly cuz of diversity and SpTeam acumen and solidarity on the OLine and Id like B Will and Aiken but I believe they'll price themselves out and I believe both would bring comp picks.
On cuts according to OverTheCap we already have 5.4 mil dead money mainly cuz of Monroe and Forsett. Doom (2.375 mil dead and 6 mil saved), Wright (2.67 mil dead and 2.67 mil saved), Watson ( 1 mil dead and 3 mil saved), Arrington (666,668 dead and 2.1 mil saved) and Lewis (466,668 dead and 1.8 mil saved) which would give us at the end 12,575,000 mil dead which is rough but nessassary imo but we'd also save 15,566,666 mil which opens up a lot of doors for us.
On paycuts it would be awful tough to ask anybody but I would approach Webb and Pitta to possibly drop some of their 5.5 mil base or Yanda at his 6 mil base. Joe if anybody is curious has a 6 mil base while Jimmy is making 8.5 which is by far the highest. NO DEFERRALS. Tired of passing the buck
Sidenote on Zuttah is right now we have nobody to replace him so I'd keep him for now.

It is a team sport. So, when his "team" was 4-6, Aaron Rodgers, the QUARTERBACK or the so-called "leader" and "face" of the franchise came out and made the following statement to the press; "I feel that we can run the table. I really do!" He then elevated his own gameplay as the QB in those remaining games and his teammates followed his lead. Look where they are now!

Pees is far from perfect, but man we can do A LOT WORSE. I really think some talent adjustment and some scheme tweaking is in order for sure, but Pees is no idiot. I REALLY don't think he is proud nor pleased with the second half of the season.
And the Rex fans, without going back ten years give me some glimmer of evidence that Rex can be an outstanding D.C.
I personally don't think he has it.
We can also do A LOT BETTER. You good with mediocrity Dog. ![]()
Watch that GB game last night. Lions down by 14 with 2 min left. GB comes out in hard man to man with their top 2 CBs already out. Gave up some yds but they stopped them. No way Pees would have did that.
Lets go out with a winning record. ![]()

Alright got another name for you. Taco Charlton. Seems to have decent outside speed but what I've really liked is his presence against the run. He's around 270lbs and reminds me of Suggs. I really like the combination of him and Tredavius White in the 1st 2 rds.
