I love the third round for WRs this year. Rogers, Godwin, ford, darboh, all guys that don't look like superstars but look like legit NFL starters, especially rogers who I think is gonna make some noise just catching everything thrown his way. Godwin is lethal on deep back shoulder throws, ford is one of the best route runners in the class with solid speed and body control, darboh looks like a steady possession guy with a big body and solid routes and room for improvement.Â
If we take a wr this year I hope we wait til the third, the value is greatÂ
Ford would probally be the only one I'd consider with our 3rd pick. Like you said runs great routes and has good balance(some nice sideline catches). Godwin I really like (Penn St fan) but it'd be 3rd day only for me. Darboh never stuck out to me and Rogers I don't remember real well (so I take your word for your comparison) but I did watch the USC/Penn St game and Godwin was the one that shined. Josh Reynolds could be a good 3rd rd option but I have trouble determining whether spread option players can translate well to the NFL.
I personally wouldn't hesitate to take Williams or Davis in the 1st and grab defense later. If they're available I say DO IT! DO IT!! If neither are available then a tradeback would be our best scenario and if we can garner an extra 3rd or 4th imo we have to draft a receiver before the end of the 4th. Straight up.
I've seen Juju being mentioned but what other receivers are 4th rd and earlier worthy of being drafted.

1 hour ago, Ravensfan23 said:Yea I actually do. I didn't before but I do. I don't think Juice is a concern at all imo. Even if the Ravens make him the highest paid FB it won't be costly.Â
With Wagner, I don't think the Ravens will have to break the bank with him. I'd love to hear what the initial offer was, assuming the info is correct as you mentioned. I honestly thought if the Ravens offered Wagner a fair deal that placed him in the top 5-7Â salaries of RTs he'd re-sign before hitting the market so I wouldn't be surprised to hear that the 2 sides aren't too far apart. Maybe it's a 5th year or signing bonus, but I'd be surprised to see Wagner get much more than 7+ Mil a year and I think the Ravens will offer between 6.6-7Mil
I don't think BWill will command the money many of us thought. I know earlier in the process I did, but I'm not so sure now. In the case of all three guys, I just get the feeling that they will be happy with the Ravens making competitive offers and not feel the need to be the highest paid at their positions. I think with Wagner and BWill there are big differences between them and Torrey or KO. I think the Ravens will be close to any offer they get on the open market and they'll return.Â
I think you completely drilled it with Wagner unless one of these teams with enormous cap space like the Browns or Jags gives him some sort of crazy offer but to me he's strictly an RT and not worth that kind of dough. Mitchell Scwartz signed a 5 yr 33 mil deal and I believe they pretty much the same player.
Worried bout paying B Will too much money since it seems like he wears down as the game goes on. He collapses the pocket regularly at the beginning of the game but the longer the game goes........... Carl Davis really needs to step it up this year to keep him more fresh if we resign B Will
Juice I want to keep but I don't know if he's gonna be as cheap as you all think when he was our 3rd down back quite a bit. He's talented in so many ways and adds to spteams. I consider him almost a must considering how we want to run the ball more in the future
3 hours ago, B-more Ravor said:This number is misleading because that is before RFA/ERFA tenders and incentive adjustments ($3M debt for Pitta reaching his incentives alone) that are going to cut into the space pretty substantially.
Right now, before any other moves are made, that $15M is really around $7.7M after the above matters are taken into account. Certainly not great, but still better than last year at this time when they were projected to be OVER the cap prior to making moves.
I'm sure many people never consider this.
28 minutes ago, B-more Ravor said:IDK, this is a weak FA class and there are teams with just incredible amounts of Cap dollars to burn. Those two factors, IMO, make it harder to get players to accept paycuts. Not to mention, we aren't the playoffs every year Ravens of 2008-2012 that players might want to stick around for.Â
Plus, as Jacket said, paycuts alone aren't going to create that much Cap space. They most certainly are going to need to release some of those players.
Lastly, dead money is what it is. It's not as scary or terrible as it's made out to be and is a natural part of most team's salary cap. Yes, the year with Ray Rice's ~$10M in dead money was bad, but that was an extreme circumstance. The dead money from most of the guys mentioned is a sunk cost - it's going to either be part of their Cap number or will be dead money if they are released. Again, it's going to be there one way or another (just different columns, so to speak). So, the real question with most of these decisions isn't about the dead money, it's the Cap savings. If the Cap savings is enough, the team isn't concerned about the resulting dead money.
Looking at that chart Zuttah would be a prime candidate to be cut or traded after June 1st. I think its in our best interests to wait especially if Wagner departs cuz we could have 3 new starters on the oline considering that Lewis moves to RT.
Arrington and Lewis are sure thing cuts. Id cut Wright too. That number is just too high even with a paycut. Webb I'd ask to at least take a 1.5 mil paycut but not lower since I believe another team would pay 4 mil for him. Pitta same thing and I know dead money is really just nothing more than a face thing but man it's still ugly. Suggs you really cant do anything with. Wallace is very interesting and the darkhorse in all this since we have comparable skill players in Perriman and Moore and we desperately need a chain mover. Watson I'm not sure what to do with but I'd let him go so he can the best opportunity to connect with a team of his choice.
What do you guys think about Nate Gerry a safety from Nebraska. I personally liked what Ive seen. Really lays the wood I know that lol. I'm personally only going by the games I've watched but I was looking thru some draft rankings at the safety position and I seen him ranked 14th and I was like yeah I remember this guy. Is he worthy of a low rd pick and has anybody looked at better allaround footage.
I'm thinking he'd be a good dime/spteams player and would contribute big league. ![]()

I have my eye on Jabrill Peppers
Peppers is an extremely interesting guy where he could do sort of a rover cover on the backend and move him around as a blitzer. Possibly may only be used in nickel or smaller formations tho which may make him a reach at 16.

I like it becuz you drafted a guy named Fish.

Sadly, that worked against the team since he only played one year under the new contract and it was a very bad year for him on the field
Thinking same thing and was gonna post about it and then I go down to the next post lol anyways this is an eyeopener.

Maybe if we are talking about Denver having an effect on long distance field goals it is a good stat to bring up but there are plenty of field goals shorter than 60 yards that aren't being taken into account. I mean sure, in perfect conditions with a 10mph tailwind, it is a lot easier to kick outside vs in a dome but that wind flips around for the other kicker so they have a headwind. And there are plenty of bad weather games out there as well. Taking out the variability of the elements overall is a huge plus since the kicker doesn't have to think about the conditions and can just kick the ball. Again, maybe I am underestimating Anderson but kicking in a dome vs in the elements helps.
I think he benefits from being the first guy to make money from Kubiak and Shanahan. If you took him out of that system, I really wonder if he would be as good as he is. I just think he was in the right place at the right time and at the end of the day there are too many other people out there for me to say he deserves to be in. How good would other guys look in that offense? Plus if we are putting him in for a couple really good seasons, that opens the door for a lot of other players who have had a couple good seasons and then not much else. Granted with the way RB has been devalued maybe we will see lesser players at RB make it in due to lack of talent outside of AP
Anderson got in cuz he played since they wore leather helmets but seriously for the longest time he was known as the best kicker in the NFL. I like seeing these guys getting their due.
Also about Terrel Davis. They meant to put Terrel Owens in but somebody you know got them confused. Whoops!

Super Bowl 51Â had an overnight rating of 48.8, down slightly from Super Bowl 50's rating of 49.0. It also was a decline from the Patriots win over Seattle in Super Bowl 49 which drew a 49.7 rating. So a three year decline in the Super Bowl ratings currently.Â

That's really a small drop if you look at the big picture.

Keon Hatcher, WR, Arkansas
Things haven't always been easy for Hatcher during his time in Fayetteville, as his inconsistent hands have caused heartburn for coaches and fans on occasion. But when he's able to concentrate on the easier catches as well as he does on the more difficult ones, opponents must pay close attention to him on every play due to his combination of size (6-2, 210) and speed. Hatcher led the run-first Arkansas squad with 558 yards and six touchdowns receiving in 2014, and will probably put up similar numbers this year with two 1,000-yard rushers on the roster (Alex Collins, Jonathan Williams). Gaudy numbers are less important to NFL teams than athleticism and producing when given the chance; Hatcher could climb up boards if he's able to display both over the next year."
I like Drew Morgan better out of Arkansas (steadier hands) but another poster mentioned Chris Godwin (Penn St) as a nice mid rd option and I 100% agree.

You have to have the bowl of ice cream first before you add the cherry.
Remember that guy He Hate Me lol
He did a good job doing weds morning on the Sirius satellite NFL channel during the last offseason. He's got the personality and the gift of gab to do a good job.

The NFL will have to own it if she goes political. Thought I heard something bout Tony Bennett making an appearance with her.

Barnett would be an easy top 5 pick if he had better burst and pursuit.
Took some time and watched some videos and I agree about the lack of burst, seemed kind of slow but he sure is awesome in space with his direction changing ability. Can't remember seeing any Tenn games so I had to see what the hype was all about. Charles Harris is another one I'll check out later. I watch more Big10 than SEC.

Taco reminds me of Suggs ala where he excels at both stooping the run and getting after the QB. Coverage skills may be lacking tho if asked to play 3-4 OLB.
8 hours ago, JoeyFlex5 said:alex anzalone im guessing. i mocked him to us in my latest mock in the 3rd. i like him as a complementary ILB but with the rumors of the ravens wanting KC at ILB i would withdraw that pick.
Checked your mock. Looked pretty good actually. Really liked your 2nd and both your 3rds. Taco to Pitt man you killing me.
Anzalone is the guy I'm talking about after relooking over roster and your description of him in your mock is spot on and I'm not trusting KC as my other ILB. Those little passes to the RBs have been killing us but there was improvement out of CJ last year in this dept.
1 hour ago, JoeyFlex5 said:people yearn for the days of old where we alternated 6-10 and 10-6 seasons for like 8 years, give or take a game or 2 here and there.Â
it doesnt make sense. we were less respected as a franchise than jacksonville, our qbs routinely threw for under 2000 yards and double digit picks and <20 touchdowns, and they did this WITH A GOOD OL! its hilarious, its like teenagers who think vintage stuff is cool saying "i wish i grew up in the 50s" yeah because everyone loved polio right?Â
seriously, why anyone wants to go back to those days so badly is beyond me, we were a joke of a team with a good defense that was susceptible to big plays because we blitzed the freaking house in our base package on a majority of snaps.Â
ive been a ravens fan since they came to baltimore, but i was 4 at the time, so i wont count myself as a weekly viewing fan until around 03-04. i remember the billick/boller/anthony wright years, i remember organized chaos, i remember watching our defense swarm the line of scrimmage on every snap and you hoped like hell the qb had to hold on to the ball for one more pump, i remember losing to jake delhommes panthers and jake plummers broncos in our 13-3 season because you cant stop a high powered passing attack by rushing 8 every other snap, i remember holding peyton manning to ZERO touchdowns in the AFCDG in our own house as the 2nd seed and losing because jamal lewis couldnt carry the team on his back.Â
dear ravens fans who recall those miserable days: why would you ever want that back?Â
dear ravens fans who werent around for those days: trust me, we have it better now.
Remember Jax was good team at the time and the Ravens D was feared and no we was great not good.

Will try to check him out and his name is in my memorybank. If he's like Boldin then that's precisely what we need since we got deep speed already covered even if we release Wallace.
You got any opinion on Josh Reynolds?
