  1. Wasn't this thread supposed to be about QBs?

This isn't about backup RBs. lol

Of course it was M3 but you mods already know that the least little post can sidetrack a thread.  Lol!

    Yep.

As for the subject it's either gonna be Wenning or an FA off the scrap heap and they'll probally sign an URFA to also compete. Not a big deal tho cuz Joe's gonna break Favre's game starting streak. Howl at the moon.

  2. I hope Arthur gets a chance this year, it's unfortunate that he's stuck behind two really good linebackers, but seeing how McPhee is probably gone this year why not give Brown a chance to be a situational blitzer? He's not a natural pass rusher like McPhee but he looked pretty good blitzing up the middle in college, he's got great speed, I think we should give him a chance in preseason to come in like McPhee and be the guy they can move all over the line, and unlike McPhee, brown can cover well so that just opens up more possibilities for pees to utilize

    Not a bad idea.

  3. If Peyton returns, he may not have Wes Welker at his disposal since he is a pending FA. Though if Welker, who is thinking about retirement, no team will have him. If Welker retires he will finish his career with 890 catches, 9,822 Yards Receiving and 50 TDs.

Welker needs to retire. He's been concussed enough. Peyton returning to Denver. Idk. I think Kubes says no.

Looks like another Raven FA bust might be let go this year as well. First it was Oher's unimpressive one year stint with Tennessee, and now according to the Miami Herald, LB Dan Ellerbe is in danger of being a cap causality coming off a hip injury that put him on IR back in September. He is due $8.45M in 2015.

With potentially Mike Wallace gone as well, it seems the new GM is clearing out those huge contracts that former GM Jeff Ireland gave out.

The little birds flounder when they leave the nest.

Wouldn't mind having him as a backup.

Not a fan of Shanahan but Cleveland is a joke

    The understatement of the year.

In some more fairly humorous offseason stuff, it turns out the Eagles' 2015 calendar features Riley Cooper for Black History Month.

    http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2363210-riley-cooper-is-the-featured-athlete-for-black-history-month-in-eagles-calendar

Well you gotta have a sense of humor.

What if you, on the off chance, have no talented black players on the team? Who do you put on the calendar then?

    The untalented black players.

  4. Though the result is disappointing, the Panthers deactivated him for nothing. They deactivated him with the all the pressure to do so and then the case gets dismissed, and Hardy missed an entire season for nothing.

He was convicted in Aug or something like that but his appeal wasn't held until Feb. Imo the NFL had to do something especially with all the physical evidence that was provided. Its a shame he's getting away with it. Money talks and you know what else walks.

  5. Rashaan is an exclusive rights free agent according to spotrack ( http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/baltimore-ravens/ ), a typically reliable source. Thus apparently if we offer him a 3 year contract at the vet minimum he either has to take that contract or leave the NFL entirely because we control his rights. Thus I'd say we pretty much have 100% control over him and I couldn't be happier about that

He'll be an ERFA, so technically, yes.  He doesn't have a formal contract for next year but we'll renew it and he'd be a RFA the following year, I believe.

Good to know. Thanks for the info.

  6. If he

Melvin played a very solid game... Did he not?

He played very well.  They even tasked him on Antonio Brown at times and he held his own.

If he holds his own next week then heck yeah he should have a chance for the #2 spot. Do we control his rights next year??

  7. How has Joe Philbin not been fired?  He's an awful coach.

There are a lot of good jobs available this year.  Even Oakland isn't as bad as it's traditionally been, with Carr looking like he could be the guy.

Why is that? He had to start over with a whole new OLine and Tannehill is only an average QB. Plus Marino had a meeting with Steven Ross and right after that it was announced Philbin was staying on as HC.lol. Blame Dan the Man. Mike Wallace has also not performed to his ridiculous contract.

I also think there was some kneejerking in Atl. Smith took them to the playoffs his 1st 5 yrs I believe then had 2 bad yrs. Sometimes its the groceries but they still kept Dimitroff as far as I know.

Trestman? Meh the Cutler did him in. They're gonna have a hard time finding a good HC becuz they gonna know that Cutler has to be the starting QB and thats gonna turn a lot of candidates off.

Ryan the good ol boy. I really hate to see him go and you can tell the players loved him by the way they gave him that Gatorade bath.

And Jim. Too much headclashing going on in the FO and it was like they was trying to set him up for failure and with 20/20 hindsight I believe he made an egregious error by switching from Alex to Kaep. It's like buying that sexy stock and getting good returns at the beginning but then watching it tank.

  8. You think his going to a division with broncos, kc, chargers?

With perhaps the worst talent pool in nfl? I doubt it.

One upside for raiders is that they got a ton of cap. Seeing how defiantly polar opposite young Davis wants to portray himself as,away from AL Davis 'spend and win', I don't see him spending any money for next year either.

Totally disagree. The 3 other AFCWest would prove to be a nice challenge plus he has building blocks with Carr and Mack.

    Marvin Lewis isn't going anywhere.

Why not? 1st rd exits get awful tiresome. Mike Brown could be eager to take that next step.

I've heard that argument before but I think Jim will want to win a Super Bowl after coming so close. I don't think college satisfies that desire.

Totally agree. Usually only coaches that don't suceed go back to college. Harbaugh is not in the same mold as Saban,Petrino and Spurrier.

  9. College football is so confusing. First you got the Big 10 with 14 teams and the Big 12 with 10. :eyes: Then you got a QB wearing #98 getting sacked by a DLineman wearing #5. I'm like what the defense is throwing the ball. :34853_shakehead: . Anyways 8 teams is what should happen. The 5 division winners.  2 wildcard spots and the best lesser division champ getting the 8th seed.

  10. Yes, guys...(J.O. and Balfan)  Standardized punishments don't work...  and in some cases, entire careers are in the hands of those people who shouldn't be in control; like potential vindictive girlfriends, or just certain people in general, like the media and public opinion    Exactly why circumstances matter... and knowledge of ALL of the circumstances as well.  Ridiculous to think otherwise.

Yeah it shouldn't just be a set 6 game suspension. Same crime. Diffrent scenarios. Some more severe than others. Im assuming your talking bout McDonald. Im hearing his girlfriend is pregnant and had marks on her neck and arms. Pretty curious how we get this  info but never heard bout any marks that Rice did unless I missed something. Something like this to me sounds likee it should be a year suspension. Goodell used to infract punishments that were in "the best interests of the NFL(ala the Big Ben suspension)". What happened to that?

  11. The Rams lease is up in St. Louis and their owner Stan Kroenke recently purchased a large parcel of land in Inglewood, California near the Forum. Is this a leverage ploy to extort money for improvements to the Edward Jones Dome or are they moving back to their old home city?

Kroenke I believe is from LA and would like to move back but they're both baseball cities anyway.
