  1. @-Truth- vs @rmw10:

2 strong passing attacks face off, but I think Truth is pretty much stronger throughout, with his missed picks showing up for rmw. QBs and coaching matter a lot and Truth has the edge with Big Ben and I'm not so sure about that rmw guy at HC :D. Winner: @-Truth-

    @Deflated Football vs @BmoreBird22

Deflated doesn't have much pass rush to begin with and with Bmore's OL, Luck is going to have lots of time to pass and beat 2 very young CBs. Best way to attack Bmore's defense is at LB, but TE Celek and RB Peterson won't do much in the passing game. Winner: @BmoreBird22

  2. Here is my breakdown of my game.

HC: Bill Belichick vs empty: Well, Ozzsome doesn't have one, so... EDGE: Mt. Crushmore

QB: Tom Brady vs Marcus Mariota: I like Mariota's potential for the future, but this isn't close for 1 game this year. EDGE: Mt. Crushmore

RB: Jamaal Charles/Danny Woodhead vs T.J. Yeldon/Jeremy Langford: Charles is an electric playmaker and will be fully healthy in the playoffs and Woodhead is a elite receiving back. I like what Yeldon did last year, but the the Jags go out and sign Ivory to limit him. I'm not sure Langford plays well for Chicago this year, but this #2 role fits him better. Ozzsome will be better for the future (way younger), but I have the edge today. EDGE: Mt. Crushmore

TE: Martellus Bennett/Dwayne Allen vs Luke Willson: Easy one here. Bennett and Allen are both more talented than Willson, who went in the 25th round. EDGE: Mt. Crushmore

WR: Julian Edelman/Kamar Aiken vs Amari Cooper/Doug Baldwin: I won't put up a fight here, this goes to Ozzsome. I didn't invest early on WRs. EDGE: Ozzsome

OL: Thomas/Bitonio/Paradis/Linder/Bulaga vs Glenn/Garnett/Sullivan (and Erving)/Scherff/Vollmer: Both teams have good OLs here, with the best player at LT. I'll take my OL and more of the proven experience vs the upside of Ozzsome's. EDGE: Mt. Crushmore

DL: Michael Bennett/Devin Taylor vs Clowney/Dante Fowler Jr./Michael Johnson: Losing Junior Galette to a torn Achilles hurts me here, as Ozzsome takes the position. Bennett is easily the best player, but Ozzsome is better behind the #1 rusher.
Jurrell Casey/Steve McLendon vs Derek Wolfe/Bennie Logan: Again, I have the best player in Casey, but Ozzsome has a better #2. Random note: I'd much rather have Wolfe as a 5T not a 3T. EDGE: Ozzsome

LB: DeAndre Levy/Ben Heeney vs Koa Misi/Sean Spence/Paul Dawson: Neither group is too hot here. Levy is the best player and Heeney looked well at the end of last year. Misi is constantly average at best, Spence is a clear backup who hasn't really impressed and Dawson has potential but hasn't proven anything yet. EDGE: Mt. Crushmore

CB: Malcolm Butler/Joe Haden/Buster Skrine vs Delvin Breaux/Trae Waynes/Kendall Fuller: My 3 CBs have proven a lot more in their time in the league, but both Butler and Haden being top 20 CBs. Skrine fits well as a #3. Breaux played well last year, Waynes is still developing so will have ups and downs and Fuller is a rookie so he'll have ups and downs as well. EDGE: Mt. Crushmore

S: Eric Reid/Ron Parker vs Glover Quin/Aaron Williams: I have 2 solid players here, but Ozzsome has an impact player in Quin and a solid one in Williams. EDGE: Ozzsome

Only 1 ST player between us, with Ozzsome having Roberto Aguayo. Not grading as both teams are incomplete.

That brings us to Mt. Crushmore 7, Ozzsome 3

    Overall breakdowns:

Head Coaching: With no HC I win easily and Belichick provides a huge advantage. EDGE: Mt. Crushmore

Offense: I have the edge at QB, RB, TE and win a close one at OL. Ozzsome has WRs. So, I have more advantages, plus there is a big gap between Brady and Mariota right now. EDGE: Mt. Crushmore

Defense: Ozzsome won at DL, and S, with me winning LB and CB. His wins at EDGE and DL were due to more depth with more having the star power. Overall the DLs are close. I win at LB. In the secondary, I believe I have the edge with better CBs and I think my passing attack can expose the 2 young CBs that Ozzsome has. It is tied 2-2, but I think my margins of victory are bigger than his. EDGE: Mt. Crushmore (close)

    Overall edge: Mt. Crush more

    Overall thoughts:

Ozzsome has a nice team for the future, but I believe my team is a much better fit to win right now. The combination of Brady and Belichick is tough to beat not matter what, but throw in players like Joe Thomas, Michael Bennett, Jurrell Casey and others and I think I win.

Ozzsome's biggest advantage is his WRs, but I have a pretty good CB corps, which will help me slow down his best advatange.

My biggest advantage is at HC and QB and we all know that those are extremely important and can carry a team.

In an actual game, I think the NE short passing attack would limit the good front 4 and potentially expose 2 young CBs. When Ozzsome has the ball Belichick will have a good scheme in place to limit the inexperienced Mariota and my good CBs will slow down his advantage at WR.

  3. It has been 2 days of voting on the best teams in each division, so let's move onto the playoffs! This thread is for "conference 2" which is divisions 5-8.

The matchups were created by taking the highest % 1st place vote division winner vs the 4th highest and the 2nd vs the 3rd. With that, the matchups are:

*Please note that there was a tie for the division 5 lead. As a tiebreaker, I went with the team that more votes for 3 years time, which was @rmw10 over @BOLDnPurPnBlacK

    1. @-Truth- Roster (Division 7) vs 4. @rmw10 Roster (Division 5)

    2. @Deflated Football Roster (Division 6) vs 3. @BmoreBird22 Roster (Division 8)

You can also find the rosters here, on the Google Spreadsheet.

Please only take into effect selections made in the 26 rounds, do not factor in the continuation. Since this is the playoffs, any player suspended for the beginning of the season will be playing (Tom Brady, Le'Veon Bell, etc.), so don't factor them out of the conversation.

Use this thread to discuss your thoughts on the teams and the vote.

  5. Thanks @-Truth- for making my selection.

A.J. McCarron has always been my target for my starting QB when Brady is suspended. McCarron showed last year that he is a more than capable backup QB and given the lack of QBs around the league, he has potential to be a starter. A bonus to the selection is that McCarron and Lynch can battle it out for the starting job once Brady retires.

With a QB unit of Brady, McCarron and Lynch, I think I have and excellent group.

    Sorry @Mt. Crushmore

Always tough to lose a starter, but thankfully I drafted Devin Taylor who had 7 sacks last year while only playing about 50% of snaps for the Lions.

Any concern that this might derail his career entirely? We have seen Thomas Davis return from three ACLs in the same knee, but he's the only pro athlete to ever accomplish the feat. Kikaha still has youth on his side, and to his defense, his motivation after the injury has been very promising. But I'd have legitimate concerns as to his level of play considering how much bend, twist and torque is required for pass rushers to be effective.

And Kikaha has never been an athletic player to begin with, so any athleticism lost really hurts him as he is going to fall below the threshold needed to play.

Picks are in. Filled in the offensive and defensive coordinator slots with two young up and coming coaches who will operate an aggressive mentality on both sides of the ball.

When I saw the one picture, I was confused for a second, wondering why you were drafting a coach from Ball State. Took a second to see the name.

This was a two horse race for me between @Ozzsome and @52520Andrew . Both young teams, among the best ive evaluated thus far for the future grade. Not quite as strong expectations for the now... USM wouldve been in the convo for the now vote with even a decent QB... but the lack of even a body there hurts the grade for me big time. Went with Ozz for the present so since it was close gave the 3 year vote to 52520.

    He took RG3

Crush has the best NOW team I've evaluated so far. But, with Brady and Joe Thomas as arguably his best two players... its tough to get by with the WRs without that QB. Takes quite a blow for the future vote, and had to go with Jay there.

Good tight division though. Has gotten my highest average grade for the now teams.

Thanks. Trying to win now was definitely the goal for me.

wow, so we're at it, finally :D
Sorry for my late absence; I've been busy with my last semester's exams..like some others did on the discussion thread I wanted to thank everybody for having me again this year, especially Crush (who put so much time in the game) and everybody who lent his own picks or made them on someone else's behalf, in order to keep it fast.

This said, this evaluation part is a very interesting initiative (and a very clear, organized spreadsheet).

    HC: Bill Belichick (Crush)

I don't think @harfordravenfan and I are particularly far with Harb and Zimmer, but Bill is the best game manager/mind in football. There isn't much to be said.

    OFFENSE:

    • QB: It's pretty much between Cam and Brady/Lynch.. I'd still give the edge to the latter due to the presence of BB. In the short run, despite the suspension and age, that's a crazy good combination. In the long term I'd rather have Cam.
    • Oline: I'd say Crush team's again, with @Jaybirds following.
    • Skill positions: that's quite a jump in the dark. I might sound biased but I think that in few years, even with Gates retired and the need for a pass-catching TE, mine is still a young group whose members complete each others very well.

overall- I think @Mt. Crushmore has this one.

    DEFENSE:

    • Dline: mine. Short is not meant to play all of his snaps at 1t and I guess that if I kept playing for a few more rounds I'd have certainly added a NT to rotate in there. He can play a good amount of that, tho (around 60%) and the combination of so many pass-rushers at once is going to be a nightmare for any QB. Crush linemen do mesh well together and aren't too far.
    • LBs: I think I maintain the edge again. Davis and B.Williams are great tacklers and both play very solidly in cover situation, whether it's zone (the former) or press-man (the latter). They're also in the mid 20s and team capitains. Floyd will play only between 20-40% of the snaps but providing versatility either rushing the passer or dropping in the zone.
    • Secondary: Gillmore and Diggs are perfect for my team and Graham provides great experience and versatility, but I think my lack of depth is weighing in much here. So I'd go with Crush secondary. The latest addition (Skrine) can play both inside and outside and he made the scale speak in favour of Crush. The other secondaries are also balanced (Jaybirds' is very close), but then I remember that there's BB on one side, improving the overall performance, and there's almost no doubt left.

overall- I like my D the best, always in complete honesty and trying to be as less biased as possible

    ST:

Mine. Possibly the best P in the league (or top 3 at least), who will definitely help my D by having the opponents' O start from uncomfortable situations, and an above average K.

TEAM: I think I started to draft with a philosophy and kept it pretty straight, adding some functional players here and there.. like @regz1997 said (thanks for the trust bro :D), my D will put the O in comfortable situation where that functionality may come into play and put up points regardless from the talent on that side.
Overall, the most complete team in the division is Crush's, no doubt, but I think my team can play at high level against any team in the league both now and in few years.

Nice breakdown, I agree with most.

One thing that you mentioned about my team that I think is important is units working together well. This is a pretty big thing that I think can get overlooked in this game.

For your team in a few years, the D is obviously fine, but a 36-year old Jay Cutler doesn't inspire too much confidence IMO.
