The first things that jumped out to me were his energy and physicality. He plays fast and he plays through the whistle. He knocks guys out if they touch the ball. If you run a screen on him, he shuts that Crap down. He erases the short routes. He doesn't give people easy completions. I think that in the NFL his footwork may make him liable to a couple blown coverages on deep balls but he'll work on it.
In the run game, he is willing to get into traffic. Frequently in the Clemson game he made an effort to engage a tackle. Not many corners are willing to take on a block from a lineman. If he's got an angle on the back, he brings the wood. He really tries to fight off blocks, and if it's a WR, he usually wins.
He's built thick for a corner. That 6'0, 200 build, I think, is ideal for a corner. Long but not so long you have slow foot speed.
The talk of him being stiff hipped I can see, but I think it's exaggerated. He's pretty fluid for a longer corner. It's the footwork that I think is the problem, and you see that around 3:05 against A&M. He played the slot most in the Clemson game, and to be honest, I think he can fit in there. I didn't see any glaring issues with him in the slot.
And whoever thinks he doesn't have ball skills needs to check out 2:30 against Texas A&M. He's got em. I just think he needs to get better at turning his head. He may not have the best ball skills but this guy is going to force a lot of incompletions, a lot of sacks, and a lot of punts. He's a good cover corner.
Another thing: he's a tone setter. Our defense lacks that right now in my opinion. I'm really loving this pick.
Nailed it. These were my exact thoughts.
I'd be aiming for one of EDGE guys if I can, and hoping the OL fall continues into the 3rd. Not enamored with the WR options and don't see a huge difference to what could be available in the 3rd.
Chidobe Awuzie, Kevin King, DeShone Kizer, Malik McDowell, Cam Robinson all left in the green room.

John Lynch had a great 1st night of his 1st draft.
Just now, rossihunter2 said:ian rapoport reporting that the 49ers are coming back into the 1st round - surely that's a qb and they just want the 5th year option
This is what every team that wants a QB in this range should be doing. Worth giving up a pick to get that option year. I know Oakland is kicking themselves right now.
Pass rushers starting to fly off the board.

It's fun. Days are coming to an end so might as well.

i think we're 4th in the AFC north next year. Browns have more talent then us.
Sunshine and rainbows as always, Sami.
Just now, JO_75 said:I get that part but what I'm saying is is the passion may get the best of him on the field, and get into it with other players. Forget a 25 point lead blown in the Super Bowl, Takk will keep the offense on the field with stupid penalties.
He just fulfilled a promise he made to the person that meant most to him. Obviously an emotional moment for him. Can't compare that.
Dropped the F bomb but love the passion. Dude wants it.
Takk has a great story, and cool to see him coming out with the picture.

Strengths: Can play multiple schemes and should fit in any type of coverage, very athletic and quick hips despite what people may think, makeup speed is great, physical tackler in the run game and at the LOS, disciplined, aggressive and competitive at all times
Weaknesses: Footwork needs some work, needs to be better at turning and looking for the ball, fears getting beat for the long ball sometimes, athleticism sometimes catches up to him where he gets a little too loose
Boom. Still got better value on Conley than in real life. Maybe it wasn't bad luck after all. Just life taunting me a bit.
Just now, ravefan52 said:So maybe Humphrey was rated higher
Wouldn't shock me. Talk over the last couple of weeks was that Humphrey, Conley, and Lattimore were pretty much evenly split as the #1 CB across team boards.

Kind of silly if you ask me. Polygraphs aren't really useful anymore.
Probably one of the only courses of action to develop some more comfort with the situation in such a short time frame.
Major props to Conley and his team for being able to convince teams in 2 days that he was innocent. Not an easy task to do and they did everything right.
Just now, ALSKAN RAVEN FAN said:With all the pre-draft visits you cant tip your hand how many visits does each team have?
30, but like I said, if there are no questions, why bring him in for a visit?
So happy for my guy Conley!
Just now, ALSKAN RAVEN FAN said:it will be someone did not do their homework and yes pre-draft visit is part of the homework for the draft.
Pre-draft visits are typically for guys you have questions about. If they thought Humphrey was a clean prospect, no reason to bring him in and tip their hand.
Just now, hen826957 said:Idk man. How long he's gonna be out?
No one knows, and that's pretty much the whole point here.
Just now, BmoreBird22 said:He's got plenty fluid hips. Actually did really well in the three cone for what you'd expect. He just flips his hips too early to give himself a cushion to protect against the deep ball.
Think the footwork contributes a little as well but that's entirely correctable.
Just now, JoeyFlex5 said:not shocked engram went in the first. been calling it for like 5 months
Yep. This is your guy. Good call.
Just now, hen826957 said:Yeah they should've went with Reuben Foster imo even with his injury concerns. CJ Mosley and Reuben Foster would've been a great tandem.
You say this with absolutely no knowledge of his concerns. A good player is a very good thing to have, but he actually has to be on the field to be good. If he can't play due to injury or suspension, what good is he?
Jarrad Davis is a great leader for the middle of that defense in Detroit.

I cannot wait for all of the people that constantly refer to him as Marlon Humphries.
