  1. Wow, Josh Brent finds himself back in jail after failing a second drug test.

I suspect the Cowboys will release Brent soon as Jerry won't want to look like a fool after the Patriots released Hernandez for murder while they haven't release him.

I can't stand Brent.  I still can't believe that he thought it was appropriate to show up on the sideline after his whole ordeal.

  2. We have 6 million more in cap space now, we were $12M under before Anquan's release. All I'm saying is we have enough cap to try to keep Kruger & Ellerbe over Reed or sign Ellerbe/Reed while using our 1st Round Pick in RFA on Victor Cruz. Or we sign Wes Welker. I'm trying to think of reasons to justify letting Boldin go for ONLY a 6th Round pick. That is what has me more mad.

Because it was either a 6th, 7th, or letting him go for nothing. We had 0 leverage in trying to trade Boldin. Teams all over the league knew Boldin was likely to hit the market. For a team with a multitude of draft picks, it was no problem to dangle one out there and secure his services without competition on the market. He's an aging receiver with 1 year left at a high salary. He's not worth much more in trade.

  3. I am myself to be honest. I mean, he goes and makes this statement like "Oh, man. I love this football team. Never go elsewhere, baby." Then the Ravens say "Oh? Really? Hey, my man. Can you take a little less, bro? Like, 2? We got some bills to pay." And then he's all "2 dollars? What kind of bills does that pay?" And we're all "No, son. $2M less." And he's like "Listen up, I'm not taking a penny less and you can shove it" and we're like "Wha? You said you wouldn't leave us, maaaaan. What happened?"

Anyway, it's a business. I get it. Not happy Boldin's gone. Expected it. Saw it coming. Doesn't make it better. Optimistic about our young WRs, though. Not pessimistic about Doss. I'm OK. I'm happy for Anquan, too. I hate the team. But he gets to contend. He knows the division. Nice fit.

But he is at the end of his career. Not sure how long the tires can keep rolling and you have to get younger. Sorry to see him go.

These are my exact sentiments. Its all doom and gloom every time we cut someone, year after year. And year after year, everything turns out fine. I can't deny what Boldin has done for the team, but it was simply time to move on. I would have loved for him to retire a Raven, but we can't sacrifice a potential future piece to keep an aging receiver for 1 more year. I don't expect Doss to replicate Boldin, but he's not horrible as the boards here seem to think he is.

  4. So, nobody's mad at Boldin for going back on his "word" and playing for another team if the Ravens didn't want him? Interesting.

Nice one-way street we have here.

I won't lie, I am a little bit. He basically said he wouldn't play for the Ravens and then all of a sudden was going to hit the market. He also said he wasn't playing for money, but that changed fairly quickly too.

  5. i do agree with you . they do deserve a chance .i just think we need more options and veteran depth while we figure out which of these guys can contribute.

If they do indeed cut Boldin, we'll likely stick with our current group plus a potential draft pick up through the offseason into training camp and the first couple of preseason games. If they determine that Doss, Streeter, Thompson, etc. aren't ready or just aren't that good, then they'll make a move. It doesn't make sense to panic and sign some veteran now when they may not even be needed. One of these young guys may turn out to be that superstar #1 we've been searching for. One of these young guys may also be the worst receiver to ever play the game. It's a chance that has to be taken, and if the experiment fails, it will be corrected in some way.

  6. you both missed my point . if we are cutting boldin wouldn't it be better to have a PROVEN talent to replace him and not gamble on unproven "rookies" ie doss williams streeter........... what happens if they all turn out to be david reed and 4 years from now they are still developing .if doss turns out to be the next calvin johnson great but what if the indy game is his norm we have no way of knowing thats the point.

Any how are you supposed to know if you never give them the chance? Look at the past. Ozzie has always cut veterans that he deemed too expensive in favor of younger players. He gives them a chance. Does it always work out? No, but Ozzie will find a way to correct that before it hurts us. You never know what you have until you give them a chance.

  7. joe needs more then one reciever to throw too. we have pitta and dickson (who also is not the best at catching). what's the point of drafting more wr's to add to injured reserve until they develop . we need recievers who can take boldins place . and i don't see doss doing that the colts game, the superbowl and he just doesn't make enough catches to help .

Doss hardly saw the field this year in plays designed to get him the ball. Give him a full workload and he'll make enough catches. Now, I'm not saying I expect Doss to ever live up to Boldin's level. However, I just think your justification for why Doss is not Boldin is horrible.
