Level with us... He's PurpleHorseman now, right?
Peace out to my forum mock compadres. If there's any reason I do reappear on a future board, it will be this.

I think this change, plus the fact that the Ravens have cast a less that stellar product on the field has definitely led to this board's demise.
Case in point, the "Join the Conversation" link has disappeared on the website, pointing to the ominous sign of the forums going dark. I'm sure many didn't even realize this piece. I'm willing to bet those changes to a more mobile friendly, but less visually spectacular website killed things.
Too bad, as this board was the bees-knees.
This too. It used to be front and center on the homepage. I know this complain was brought up around the time of the update, and it was said that nothing was going to be done about it. The product on the field contributes but we were probably pushed in this direction as well.
9 minutes ago, The Raven said:Okay, gotcha. Thanks. Was hoping we got a guy that was more of a potential single high, but a sixth round pick for Anthony Levine isn't a bad deal.
I checked him out after we drafted him and I think he can function as a single high on occasion, but is more of a cover 2 guy. Should be a good STer. I saw a Haruki Nakamura athletic comp but with better tackling and IQ, and I don't think that's too far off.

I think it has also brought out the so called "boo birds" around here as well. I used to be much more active in the Ravens Talk section but with the losing seasons, we started to get a serious influx of complainers. There have always been some but they started to take over nearly every thread (and still do). If I wasn't interested in the draft and the offseason forum games, I would have been gone a long time ago. Ravens Talk has become a barren wasteland of trolling and a general lack of education since the Super Bowl.
3 minutes ago, PuRock said:Devil's advocate. But the decline in registrations, posts, and activity might go hand and hand with the product that is being put out on the field. Hard to generate new users and generate heavy activity when the product is average.
In the seasons we were going to the playoffs every year and won a Super Bowl there was a lot more activity. Things to get excited about and generate interest. New fans were coming out of the woodwork.
Agreed. I think all of us can admit they've been a hard team to watch at times in the last 4-5 years. Hard to generate interest when a team is coming off of the Super Bowl high and doesn't maintain that level of play.
To get somewhat back on topic, it's been real guys. My time on message boards is likely coming to an end this Friday, as I don't immediately plan to join any other site. I think that time has come to focus more on real life, despite how much I've enjoyed talking football with many of you. I figured I'd say my "goodbyes" now before Friday so it doesn't get lost in the shuffle. I'll still be around over the next couple of days so feel free to reach out. A few of you have my personal contact information, and I'd be more than happy to share it with a few others that have meant a great deal over these last 6 years if you'd like to keep in contact. If one of these new homes starts to develop a following, I may consider a return to the message board world.
I can honestly say I wouldn't know the game of football as well as I do without a large majority of you. I have always considered myself more knowledgeable than the average football fan that calls into 105.7, but learning from a lot of you really made me realize just how complex this game is. Learning how to evaluate prospects, read coverages, etc. wouldn't have happened without the insane amount of knowledge that can be found around here (some more than others, obviously). I sincerely thank you guys as it has really strengthened my love for the game, despite never playing it other than backyard games in the neighborhood.
It's been real, ya'll. Go Ravens!

One of my favorite moments, getting to see Ronaldinho and Drogba play live. I'm sure fans over in Europe feel the same thing. Just because they don't have the sport doesn't mean they can't be fans and support the team.

Yeah when Serie A, Bundesliga, La Liga, and Premier League games are played in Baltimore than I would be fine with NFL games in Europe. What are the odds of Real Madrid playing Barcelona in Baltimore?
Not as crazy as you might think. Chelsea and AC Milan played in Baltimore several years back and it was a sellout crowd. Soccer has steadily been growing in popularity here.

What's happening in Boston is pathetic, but the O's aren't responding well either. They're letting all of this get to them. At the end of the day, it's the W's that matter and we aren't getting them.

I hope you tell us how long it takes you to type an average post like this on your last day. It's pretty impressive that you've been able to act this way over the last couple of months. Not sure what you get out of it, but props on the troll job.
10 minutes ago, Italian Raven said:Idk if someone already mentioned him. He doesn't fit the category as a pure trade target, as he's an unsigned FA, but Vincent Jackson wouldn't be the worst thing happening to us I guess.
Not a solution by any means but due to his last injury and age I think we may add him at a relatively low cost. Hard to find a big, possession receiver who can help moving the chains at this point.
I'd rather just roll with the younger guys and hope they work out. VJax has missed more games due to injury than he's played the last 2 seasons. When he has played, there's been 0 impact.
I mean, this all has to be Flacco's fault, right? That massive contract he signed will no longer allow the team to afford to keep the boards up and running. Reason #9569 we should trade him.

Think we're up to 5 now. It's great that they've tried and just can't seem to do it. Meanwhile, Manny's hitting bombs. Pathetic showing by the Sox though. Clearly his slide wasn't intentional and they keep on living life like it is.

Yeah I really don't see the point here. We need a WR but not sure how 1 guy who has been suspended more than he's played in his career, and another who has 6 alcohol related offenses in his life, really helps us.
10 hours ago, Sami84 said:No. I'm being honest..he hasnt played a snap yet. I had time to watch more tape.
I'm learning from my arthur brown mistake.
You keep playing both sides of the coin. Do you, Sami. Can't be wrong if you cover both possibilities.
Just now, Sami84 said:I had a chance to watch more tape. I watched some FULL houston games. By the way no draft in history produces more stars than busts. So if you're implying that there is no BUST in the first 4 picks then you havent learned.
He has big upside ( bowser) but at the NFL level does he have the instincts? can he read plays? Is he simply unmoulded clay?
I needed to see more consistent play recognition from him ( at the SAM spot).
Look, we have never had a draft thats not had more busts than successes. I'm just saying if there's going to be a bust it's likely this guy. The most safe picks where Wormley, T.Williams and Siragusa.
This is just a way for you to turn around and say that if he busts, you questioned him the whole time.
24 minutes ago, Sami84 said:It would not shock me if we yet again have a ravens draft where the first 2 round picks dissapoint and the middle round guys are the ones who end up being the players for us.
I watched more bowser tape and i'm not sure about him...he lacks instincts and seems too raw for a 2nd round pick.
After watching more film of Lattimore, Sidney Jones and conely I really wish i could speak with harbs and ozzie and ask them to explain how humphrey was far and away a better corner than the last two
Also, not picking OJ howard or Rueben Foster is basically a mistake. The latter is AT LEAST bobby wagner and OJ howard is as polished of a TE i've seen in years in both the receiving and running game.
While humphrey is nowhere near the mistake elam was, he and bowser will not be pro bowl players. thats my guess. I think Humphrey will have good and bad moments and will be a solid corner .
I think the guys that ends up being our best player this year are Wormley, T.Williams and Siragusa.
Lol this is pure gold. You were raving about him leading up to the draft and even when we picked him, but now that he's actually a Raven, you dislike the pick. What a shocker!
1 hour ago, RayRocks said:I think Victor Cruz is a solid option to look at if we don't see any other cuts come in after June 1. Last year was his first year back from that big injury and he started off pretty slow with only 15 receptions through the first 8 games, but in the last 8 games he had 24 receptions.
Otherwise the only real options out there are Boldin, Hawkins or Floyd (who we probably won't touch because of his suspension).
Cruz has pretty much 0 explosion left, and that was pretty much his whole game. Pass.
16 hours ago, JoeyFlex5 said:Watched more film, his Louisville game was beautiful despite barely recording a stat. I've never seen a qb break down and extend so many times in one game because a LINEBACKER took away multiple reads. His zone awareness was brilliant. He was crossing the field, showing blitz then dropping, standing deep and surveying before bringing a blitz. He obviously understands the concept of baiting and disguising. He feels defenders moving behind him and very fluidly rolls around with them, he's got extremely light and quick feet.
as an edge rusher, he's gotta learn to finish. He gets reckless and allows himself to get totally eliminated, he either breaks down his technique and lets the blocker latch on last second because he went for the sack before disengaging, or he just trips himself up. You can see him getting the upper hand early and showing some great footwork along with some decent but inconsistent handwork, he shows some competence as a rusher but always fails to finish it seems, he's gotta settle down when he gets to that finishing move at the end of his rush and finish disengaging.
I don't know if he's a ILB in a 34, I like how he moves in space, he would be amazing at covering between the hash and flats between the LOS and 20 yard mark, yes he is athletic enough to zone drop to disrupt the timing and then stick a receiver 20+ yards downfield. He is like an extra db who will be very disruptive as a pass rusher
I agree with this. He's pretty much developed in the coverage aspect of the game. I don't think he's going to need too much work there to have a role in the NFL from day 1. His pass rush does need some work though and with Tim Williams in the fold, he can work on that. We don't have to rely on him to be this sack machine right out of the gate.
As for the last snippet, I think he can play ILB in the 3-4, and I say that because we deploy more of a 4-3 under now. I'd imagine you'll continue seeing Suggs with his hand in the dirt, which still gives Bowser the opportunity to play in space when in the "base" alignment. I don't think he's a full time, true 3-4 ILB, but he can be placed there in certain situations.
Back to a better time when @RayRayRaven was coherent. The good old days just a few short months ago
not sure we watched the same game the pats pushed our d around some and though we pressured brady he was sacked only on a Weddle blitz. our secondary has holes. you saw weddle get burned and tavon young get targeted. its not a bad D but its not a killer D either.
it starts in philly what we do in that game says a lot about our season. its fitting though isn't it, to get in the dance we have to beat our nemesis again. We have to win that one in pitsburgh. all the marbles are on the table and it will be playoff game. what more can you ask for!!!@!!!!
