  1. Pretty crazy. I see the CNN headlines now that say "NFL facing image problem." Funny stuff.
  2. I can't stand Brent. I still can't believe that he thought it was appropriate to show up on the sideline after his whole ordeal.
  3. Because it was either a 6th, 7th, or letting him go for nothing. We had 0 leverage in trying to trade Boldin. Teams all over the league knew Boldin was likely to hit the market. For a team with a multitude of draft picks, it was no problem to dangle one out there and secure his services without competition on the market. He's an aging receiver with 1 year left at a high salary. He's not worth much more in trade.
  4. These are my exact sentiments. Its all doom and gloom every time we cut someone, year after year. And year after year, everything turns out fine. I can't deny what Boldin has done for the team, but it was simply time to move on. I would have loved for him to retire a Raven, but we can't sacrifice a potential future piece to keep an aging receiver for 1 more year. I don't expect Doss to replicate Boldin, but he's not horrible as the boards here seem to think he is.
  5. I won't lie, I am a little bit. He basically said he wouldn't play for the Ravens and then all of a sudden was going to hit the market. He also said he wasn't playing for money, but that changed fairly quickly too.
  6. Apparently the Vikings made a play and offered a 7th for Boldin. I'm still somewhat happy that we at least got something instead of just cutting him and him going to an AFC team.
  7. I feel like we could have gotten a bit more for him if we had waited instead of trading him immediately. With that being said, Ozzie may have really wanted his salary off the books. Maybe he has something brewing for the first wave of free agency over the next few days.
  8. I'm not sure why everyone is flipping that we only got a 6th. We were just going to flat out cut him on Friday. At least we got something out of him.
  9. RavensInsider Anquan Boldin traded to 49ers for a sixth-round pick
  10. Well, goodbye Anquan. It was great having him on the team, but I guess it was time to move on. At least we got something out of him rather than just cutting him.
  11. Definitely tomorrow at 4.
  12. Nope. Expected to come sometime tonight or early tomorrow, I heard.
  13. This. Side note, though: I'm surprised we haven't heard anything at all about Leach. I thought he'd be one of the first to go to be honest.
  14. $6 million, so it seems worth it if we plan on using the money to fill a long-term need.
  15. If they do indeed cut Boldin, we'll likely stick with our current group plus a potential draft pick up through the offseason into training camp and the first couple of preseason games. If they determine that Doss, Streeter, Thompson, etc. aren't ready or just aren't that good, then they'll make a move. It doesn't make sense to panic and sign some veteran now when they may not even be needed. One of these young guys may turn out to be that superstar #1 we've been searching for. One of these young guys may also be the worst receiver to ever play the game. It's a chance that has to be taken, and if the experiment fails, it will be corrected in some way.
  16. Any how are you supposed to know if you never give them the chance? Look at the past. Ozzie has always cut veterans that he deemed too expensive in favor of younger players. He gives them a chance. Does it always work out? No, but Ozzie will find a way to correct that before it hurts us. You never know what you have until you give them a chance.
  17. Doss hardly saw the field this year in plays designed to get him the ball. Give him a full workload and he'll make enough catches. Now, I'm not saying I expect Doss to ever live up to Boldin's level. However, I just think your justification for why Doss is not Boldin is horrible.
  18. No. It means he had position on the coverage, and in order for the defense to stop it from being a huge gain, they had to hit him early.
  19. I bet 4 or 5 of those resulted in him drawing the pass interference. He was great a drawing the flag all year.
  20. Joe is making $6.8 million this year. Keeping Boldin or not has nothing to do with Flacco's deal.
  21. I'm wondering if that's what he's really holding out for. Maybe he feels he still has 2-3 years in him and still doesn't want to relocate.
  22. Come on. We can at least get a 1st out of him, which we'll inevitably use to draft Dion Sims.
  23. I think a $2 million paycut is more than fair for both sides. I'm still kind of surprised we haven't tried to extend him for another year or so, though.
  24. I'd assume that if an extension is not on the table, then the Ravens want to move on and give their young receivers a shot. The Ravens have never had an issue with the whole next man up thing. If they fail, then the FO will make a move.
