  1. They're still discussing whether we're doing first come first serve or a randomized draft.
  2. I just think any time you do midday on a weekend, you eliminate a lot of people. I know I spend pretty much all weekend doing the stuff I wish I could do during the week, and I'm sure a lot of other people are the same. That's primarily why I proposed the random order. We're never going to get 32 people at the same time, so why not give everyone an equal shot? That's just my opinion.
  3. Personally, I think that's a really bad time. I know I won't be home midday on a Saturday. I assume a lot of other people will be in the same boat.
  4. Whatever works. I'm not picky. We just have to make sure most people are alright with this randomized team draft.
  5. I'm for it. I won't be mad either way. I'm just here to have fun. Whether I get the Cowboys or a great team, I'll do my best to build a formidable squad. I just thought randomizing things gives everyone a fair chance.
  6. Just throwing out other possibilities. It already seems some people are going to be unhappy with first come, first serve since they won't be available. Just thinking we could leave it up to chance. I really don't care what method, though. I'm willing to work with whatever team, hopefully not the Cowboys though lol.
  7. That could work as well. First come, first serve just leaves too many people out in my opinion. It might be easier on all of the coco as well.
  8. That's why I think a random draft might be a good idea. Everyone gets a fair shot at every team. Obviously if some people are unavailable, they aren't going to be happy if they get stuck with a terrible team. I think it's the fairest way possible.
  9. People are going to complain either way. At least this way, all of us have a fair shot at the sucky teams as well as the good teams.
  10. Just thinking out loud here, but instead of us all selecting teams, how about we just do it at random? It might keep those who can't be available happy. Put all of our names in random.org, hit random 5 times, and assign us whatever number. Do the same with the teams and then the person with the corresponding number gets whatever team they land on.
  11. It's business. There is no loyalty. The same thing that happens in the NFL happens in the real world everyday. People get fired from their jobs because they aren't performing up to their salary and they may be able to be replaced for cheaper. It's life. It's unfortunate that it happens, but it does. Just like the NFL has a salary cap, businesses have budgets. There's not one team exempt from needing/wanting to cut players at some point, despite what their contract says. It's not going to make us look bad if we make that decision as long as the player knows it's strictly business.
  12. But on the other hand, the market for aging pass rushers isn't that good. We saw a lot of guys that got considerably less than what they wanted on the market last year. Now, Suggs is better than all of those guys, but is it a smart move? It's really hard to peg. He could not accept the pay cut, go into FA, and get offers less than what the Ravens offered, or he could get higher offers. He's got to evaluate the risks and see what he'd rather do.
  13. It will be interesting to see. I happen to think his value is right around that contract that you suggested, but does his agent? We know how money hungry agents can be and how more often that not, it doesn't work out. It will definitely be interesting to see what happens since this is such a wild card negotiation. We should have a resolution in the next month or so.
  14. The question becomes whether Suggs is willing to take that deal. Despite his poor 2nd half last year, are Suggs and his agent willing to say he's worth $6.67M a year? I'm not sure how quick they are to jump on a deal like that. Even though the market for pass rushers was incredibly weak last year, I think an argument can be made that he's worth more based on his 1st half of the season and that he's only 2 years removed from being DPOY. Suggs is a really tricky situation. His inconsistency has made his value so hard to nail down. Is he worth premiere (but older) pass rusher money, or is he worth purely older pass rusher money? His value is just all over the place.
  15. I was more posting that for the first part, but yeah, I agree lol.
  16. As long as we can knock his cap number down $4-5M this year, I'd be happy.
  17. From a WNST interview with Harbs Harbaugh on Suggs in 2014: "Ozzie and Terrell's people will get it done..I'd like to see him finish as a Raven...and get a statue."
  18. I think they can find a way to make it work without cutting/trading Ngata. It's certainly possible that we could sign one of them to a deal that simply kicks in after 2014, with the 2014 salary staying the same. Even if we don't, there's always ways you can work with the structure to make things work. I don't see anyway Ngata isn't on the team in 2014, but 2015 is when it becomes questionable.
  19. My bad. I misunderstood you. Either way, we'd still be eating that $7.5M the following year. I just don't see it happening.
  20. You questioned above why we don't look to trade Ngata. If we do trade him, we eat $15M this year. That's all I was saying.
  21. If we trade Ngata, the bonus accelerates and we're on the hook for $15M to not have him on the team. The only way Ngata isn't going to be on the team next year is if they really want to designate him as a post June 1st cut for an extension for one of the Smiths.
  22. Yeah I know that. I think too many people are looking at cutting Suggs to keep Jones or sign a big name FA. It's not going to happen. If we cut him, it will be the post June 1st designation and that would be used for Torrey or Jimmy only. I still highly doubt it happens.
  23. Cutting or trading Ngata only frees up $1M in cap space.
  24. The tag will actually eat up more cap space in 99% of cases.
  25. It will be, but hey, that's business. Jacoby is just a luxury at this point. If he comes back at an insane bargain, you keep him. I just don't see that being plausible.
