Stop trolling the FA wire for WR's past their prime Ozzie. We cannot carry 8 WR, none of whom play special teams. Unfortunately, they can't pick up mediocre receivers, because Flacco does not know how to improve them like Ben, Brees, Manning, etc. I actually think Beachum the OL would be a great pickup as insurance because he can play either LG or LT and seems decent when healthy. That would give them a lot of flexibility on the line with Urschel, Jensen, Beachum, Monroe or replacement LT. I hope we trade or release Monroe.
If they think this guy is a starting CB and ignore picking one up in either round 1 or 2, we will be right back again next year talking about the glaring weaknesses in the secondary. I think Vontae Davis and Wright would be solid 3 and 4 DB's with the potential to step in for someone else but if we are relying on guys like this for an entire season, it is going to be another passing frenzy every week. It is a passing league now. You need at least 5 or 6 secondary guys who can cover.
if you have not seen the new video that was released by the balt sun, he was arrested for 3 violations including suspended license, leaving the scene of an accident, and criminal property damage. and he basically explained how he just didnt want to report it because he was an athlete and it would cause a problem. oh, and he was just meeting another female friend at a hotel and fell asleep while driving. all sounds like nothing, right? he is going to meet a hooker probably, and didnt want to get caught. i have no respect for this guy and never will. if you are a nobody, maybe you have an excuse to get caught up doing this childish crap, but as a representative of a pro sports team, you have to know and do better. happy trails suggs.
Sugg's was a perfect gentleman during his arrest. Non-issue, let's move on!! http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/ravens/bal-onbody-police-video-of-ravens-linebacker-terrell-suggs-arrest-in-arizona-20160304-story.html
a perfect gentleman explaining how he was just out meeting another girl at a hotel. i am sure that went over well with his wife/girlfriend. i would bet the scum bag is out of here.
this article does not include pitta as dead money, which essentially he has been too. they are paying him to stand around on the sidelines doing nothing. i agree with others and have said it before but ngata and pitta were both such blatantly horrible contracts that i question the mental wherewithal of Newsome. i will bet they do the exact same thing with flacco and get hosed into $20 mil a year for 6 or 7 years, only to watch him flounder year after year on a steady decline. bad personnel decisions are becoming common.
Regarding the 3rd string QB. Does it really matter? Clausen, Renner, Ryan Mallet, and whoever else. If you are down to your 3rd QB, you are just holding on for dear life hoping to survive and be able to field a team to play out the game without your punter taking snaps.
Jets released Quinton Coples yesterday too. We should definitely put a claim in for him to add some pass rush depth. He is a 2012 first round pick and did not fit into their 3-4 scheme this year.
They basically had a bye week to prepare for the browns and jaguars, and lost to both of them at home. that tells you all you need to know about both the coaching staff and players this season. No concentration, no production in critical game plays, and no sense of how to win. There were probably 6 stupid bone headed or missed opportunities to close out this game both on O and D. Juice runs out of bounds keeping 30-40 more seconds on the clock. Can't pickup a 1st down when they need it. Koch fails to pin them deep. Lewis drops a floating gift with no one around him which could have sealed the game. Dumerville uneeded facemask on a play when he and the QB are basically the only guys moving. It was a putrid effort again and this team is basically painful to watch every time out.
The scariest thing i have seen from the ravens this year is on the field. that is horrifying. This, not so much.
odd that they never show a smooth video of the door completely closed and opening. the cut shows the door as it is opening each time. they could have easily been pulling some fishing line to open and let it slam shut for effect. i am guessing this is a setup for some halloween publicity.
No matter what bad calls there are, they are a symptom of bad play. If 4 guys are not standing watching BW tackle johnson, he never gets up. Lazy ball watching there no matter if he had his momentum stopped. You have to know to have to play beyond 100%, like the players on both sides of the ball are doing. Ross should protect the ball, instead of coughing it up. If he holds it securely, non-point. The Urschel call was horrendus as anyone on the field could see he reported eligible. I said Urschel tackle eligible pass before the play when he was motioning. But you have to have the will to make up for that and do it again on the next play. This team just does not play hungry, or angry or with any hint of emotion. It is borderline embarrassing to witness this year.
what the heck is wrong with our strength and conditioning? this is several years in a row that half the team is out or on IR by a few weeks into the season. it can't be bad luck. either the guys lack toughness, or the training staff is not mandating enough workout or flexibility work.
That was a sickening loss, and overall effort on both sides of the ball. I guess the defense is more at fault if you want to split hairs, but to have a victory staring you in the face from the 4 yard line on a final drive and have to settle for a FG is a major lack of urgency and sharpness. You HAVE to know you need 7 and may never get a chance to touch the ball again... and they nearly lost even in regulation within :40 seconds, allowing them to easily march right down the field only to have time expire.
My thoughts: with the exception of a 4 game playoff run to win a SB, this is basically how every game under Harbaugh has gone. The team NEVER improves as the season progresses. Same excuses. Same penalties. Same lack of production on offense. No coaching adjustments. At least 2-3 dumb mental mistakes, late hits, personal foul at the absolute worst time. I really believe this coaching staff is a total smokescreen. I would be highly in favor of a coaching change in the future.
I don't see the track record of constant nagging injuries and IR trips changing, unfortunately. he played like 10 snaps and got tackled 3 times, and he is out for the year for the second time.
Campanaro is a joke. He cannot take a hit in the NFL. May as well cut him next year, it isnt worth the roster spot.
I heard on Rome yesterday the Bears are looking to dump players and rebuild. Just saying. I would gladly give up a first round pick or more for Jeffrey. We have just squandered those away the past few years anyway. They just cannot buy a break drafting a WR. Clearly they need a better scout in that department.
Monroe is a complete waste. Jeez. I hope Hurst can hold down the fort over the course of the season, because even if Monroe returns, he'll leave the game within a series or two with some bogus injury.
Here is what is killing the Ravens: poor front office performance for about 10 years, and serious flawed picks the past 5. It is finally catching up with them because they are thin at too many positions. They are ignoring position of need. You do not need to draft 2 TE's when you drafted Crockett Gilmore the year before who looked good, when you have glaring needs at pass rush and defensive back. And they are signing average players to superstar contracts, who are not living up to billing. Jimmy Smith looks like a joke. Webb, Pitta, Monroe, Zuttah, Will Hill, etc. These are average to below average players getting top tier money. God love Pitta, but once you break your hip, you dont sign a guy to a 5 year contract. That is wasted money that is killing the overall team depth. Between Monroe who never plays and Pitta we are paying $12 mil for no performance return. If you add suggs and webb, that may be about 25% of the payroll which is out, or playing horribly. i dont see any positive results coming this season with the current effort level.
Picking up a guy who has been inactive first 2 weeks, and 10 months off an ACL injury. I think that says a lot about our defensive backs. Keep ignoring it in the draft though and scrape the waiver wire for dumpster value.
They should have drafted a corner this year. Webb has fallen off a cliff.
the only consolation in both these disappointing losses, is that they played poorly on 1 side of the ball and nearly found a way to win on the road both times. had guys not missed catches or that interception stands, we stand 2-0. hey, usually we are worse than that and it is sealed up in the second half. if they show up the next 2 games and get wins, these losses stink, but we can salvage a solid season i think. 6 of last 9 at home and brown/dolphins on the road.
I support Flacco, but you HAVE to know getting pressured on 3rd down and on your own 20 yard line to just eat that, or throw the ball away. We were up 4 on the road and the defense was looking impressive. If they punt that away on 4th down, at worst you need a FG later in the game and probably may have not even needed any scoring. The interception was a back breaker. It put them in the position to need a score - and they nearly pulled it off. I thought he was too casual with the last throw. They had 4 downs to put it in there, and surely we could have gotten a better look. Typical Joe on the road i guess.
On another note, Monroe is awful and is always nicked up and sitting. That was money wasted at LT. if the center of the line is going to cave in like that and allow pressure, Zuttah should be benched in favor of Urschel to see if he fares any better. Monroe is going to constantly be missing time, so we may as well count on Hurst playing, or use KO on the left and use Urschel at left guard.
Perriman may eventually work out, but there were quality CB's when they selected him, and clearly they did not do enough AGAIN this offseason adding enough depth. Arrington by all expert accounts is a nickel or slot back only. Webb, Melvin, A Jackson were all unreliable last year with health. And who knows with Smith. I like their draft as a class, but I hope Perriman is not another Mark Clayton.
James looks extremely quick when they put him on offense, and he broke a long run in one of the preseason games. I think if he looks decent as a returner, he may be called up as a reserve DB and KR, especially once Campo tweaks his calf in the first half of game 1.
for previous posters, Jacoby blew majorly last year both in return yardage and poor decisions fielding punts too deep and cost them a lot of field position as a result. You can't pay 3 million to a marginal kick returner with no other value. kick returns are almost non existent now due to touch backs. i think they will use Webb, and he will have a diminished role as a DB due to his constant lingering injuries.

the reports are his deal is 2 years 11.5 mil. now that we have signed him. are we out of our freaking minds?! 6 mil is almost more than the rest of our entire WR corps combined, for a crappy marginal guy with bad hands. Smith is 4 mil. I would not have cared if he signed for a veteran minimum and we could cut him loose, but this is insanity. i think they overpaid for Watson too, but at least he brings some leadership and professionalism. This guy is just a bum.
