I would say there are almost unlimited possibilities of combos on the line.
Stanley is almost the only guy who is locked in. I think Yanda will be either RG or RT, Lewis could be LG or RT, Urschel-Skura-Jensen-Siragusa LG or C, Nembot or Eluemanor RT. For instance:
Stanley-Lewis-Urschel-Yanda-Nembot
Stanley-Siragusa-Urschel-Yanda-Lewis
Stanley-Lewis-Siragusa-Urschel-Yanda
Stanley-Urschel-Skura-Yanda-Lewis
Don't sleep on Stephane Nembot. I think he will make a serious push for RT. If we don't pick up Mangold C will be Jensen Siragusa or The Brain
Don't forget Matt Skura a UDFA and practice squad player from last year as our center. He's been around for a year, hopefully has gained bulk and knowledge. He was considered one of the better UDFA signings from last year's group. I see the Ravens picking up a veteran Tackle since most of our players vying to be a starter seem more inclined to be a G or C. I think Lewis can switch to right tackle, but he looked good at LG and worked well with Stanley
This is my problem with the Ravens draft moves a lot. If they have Nembot, Skura, Urschel, Jensen, Lewis, and they are all possible options, why are you wasting 2 picks on more lineman? Especially if they also intend to bring in Mangold. On one hand they are saying they have it all under control in house, and on the other, they are proving with their actions we are hugely deficient in the O line. it cant be both.
I dont know how the Browns can be judged as coming away with a B, when they collected 3 of the first 29 players and all seem to likely be quality starters. If they had even a somewhat competent GM and had not blown picks like Manziel and Weeden, I think they would be poised to give us trouble soon, and may anyway. The Ravens are going to have to make up some ground.
Lets go out and grab some WR's after teams cut down to 53 like we did with TJ Whosyourmama and Lee Evans, oh, thats right, one cost us a shot at a championship game and the other cost us a shot at a super bowl. Yep, not addressing your needs in free agency or the draft means you get someone that no one else wanted (and they are not wanted for a reason). But, that seems to be our MO here recently, take people no one else wants, draft poorly and expect a super bowl. Such a strategy leads to missing the playoffs 3 of the last 4 years. Too funny...
Honestly, it might be the only option because they clearly cant draft any WR's. Ozzie's best hope is that someone else develops the talent, and he can get lucky and pick them up on the tail end to steal a few seasons of production to mask his lack of player evaluation success.
i dont have much confidence in the WR coach Engram to bring these young receivers up to NFL speed. perhaps this is the year the FO realizes Engram doesnt bring much to the coaching table. sure its easy to blame the WRs, but i see far less talented players on other teams producing. seems like the other teams just have a better position coach imo
It is not just the WR coach. And i dont think Engram has been head WR coach for very long, maybe since Kubiak left. I see almost no player improvement with any skill players developing under Harbaugh. They arrive and very few get better. Maybe that comes down to personal commitment, ala Jerry Rice with players being completely immersed and obsessed with becoming the best themselves. You could say Ray Rice, B Williams have improved. Everyone else arrives with some level of talent, and it does not seem to grow. I think that is a big contributor to the lack of success recently.
Hmm... I watched the memphis tape for Bowser and I don't think he was effective at all. He couldn't shed blocks or get penetration and he didn't seem all that persistent on plays. But, again that;s just me watching him for the first time. I'm sure the Ravens front office has watched a ton of tape on this guy and know he's really good enough to warrant pick #47
I am sure they watched lots of tape on Arthur brown too. And Elam. I guess you dont know until they get out there and play, but I am extremely underwhelmed by most of the selections again this year. I am going to go out on a limb and say if Cleveland gets average line play and can find a QB who is adequate, we may finish last in the north.
I watched highlights never hearing of any of these guys. Quincy from ole miss look to pass the eye test, as does white. They both have as much if not quicker cutting ability and feet than Campanaro. I think either of them could make the roster on ST ability and slot receiver. I am sure Camp will go down with a pulled quad on the first day of training camp and be sitting all season again, so the door is wide open.
Don't worry about it Ryan, just don't worry about it. We needed to address our defense OK. This is Ravens town, AKA defense. Just let the big boys handle business.
Good job Ozzie, and evrybyelse who had to do with us getting these phenomenal picks. Step one... address this defense. Next year we will add more to our offense.you know if harbs don't make the playoffs there is no next year for him right I'm happy with our picks except Chris Wormley Ive seen him play a lot and he lacks production and takes plays off so IMO this was a reach
I don't think Harbaugh feels such a pressure - even if he was fired from Baltimore, he'd have a new HC gig in a day. Even with his rather pedestrian last 3 seasons, his overall track record is still rather impressive.
I would not bet on John getting a head job in the NFL. He'll have to go back to college. John done nothing since Ed and Ray left but fire coaches and Kubiak proved the players were not the problem. The failed draft picks also signed part of John's fate. I don't see John going anywhere. The wheels would have to completely come off. Joe on the other hand is going to get beat up in more ways than one. Right or wrong.
personally, i see no lightbulb on in harbaughs head, but when you hear the analysts talk, they seem to think he would be a highly sought after coach if he was canned. i would happily send him packing. there has been almost zero player development in his entire tenure, including flacco who has regressed. i think if they had not stumbled upon tucker as a FA, this would be uglier than it already is.
If all you talk about all off season is getting playmakers, how do you turn around and completely abandon that philosophy on draft day? i do not buy the best player BS. You have to have some sense of direction on what you need to get, and they seem to be oblivious that they are so scattered. There is probably a .001 of a difference in their scoring evaluations on these guys. The offense has been complete garbage for at least every year aside from the 1 decent kubiak year where they looked solid. otherwise, it is a discombobulated mess. but, keep drafting more linebackers from alabama.
I am extremely underwhelmed by all the picks thus far. Lukewarm on Humphry, and the others have the look of mediocre role players. The front office is getting out game planned in the early rounds every year since the arrival of Harbaugh. Bowser just looks raw, and although we need pass rush, we do have several guys on the roster including suggs, zadarius, judon while we are passing over tackles and centers. why are we wasting a pick on a DE when you need o line? The ozzie draft selection and philosophy never makes any sense to me because you are devaluing the positions you need most to fill. No need for more defensive in this draft.
Your logic makes no sense. This is a historically bad o lineman class. This is the first time in history an o lineman didn't go in the top 15. Going against the strength of the draft is a fool's game.Â
I wish we would have taken Feeney or Elflein at second over a raw Bowser, but other than that, the class is a bunch of underwhelming project lineman. If we can build a shut down defense and be patient and land some vet o lineman after cuts, we will be just fine.Â
not really saying they needed to go early, but they have passed over 3 additional selections to take more guys at positions where they have players, while ignoring 2 line holes where the have zero starters. unless you feel that urschel can play center or mangold will sign. i think they probably can find a RT, but they love affair with defensive tackles on this team is ridiculous.

They have at least 2 gaping holes on the O line with no quality starting caliber replacements. You have at least 5 adequate to above average receivers/hybrids already on the roster. Wallace, Perriman, Moore, Campanaro, Waller, Woodhead. The immediate need is O line or DB. If they draft another WR thinking this is the answer to their offensive ineptness, I would not expect any improvement in the record this year.
If they do not grab at least 1 RT early, Flacco is going to be on his back or throwing a lot of incompletions to the wasted first round picks (assuming they take a WR) all year again. I am prepared to be underwhelmed by their selection in the first round. Guessing they will do something bizarre like draft a safety or RB, when there is absolutely no need.
You just can not win if you do not put points on the board and our offense is pretty depleted right now. We have drafted edge rushers each of the last several years and it's time for one of them to step up! Coaching staff needs to show an ability to develop the raw talent that has been drafted ie Correra!
We need to focus on offense this year, OL and Receiver at the high end of the draft and I would be much happier with a CB who can cover than another edge rusher if we go defense again.
Everyone says we need more pressure to help the corners BUT if the corners can hold just a little longer in solid coverage the rush that we have may just have the time to get there! Today's NFL is shorter, quick routes which further establishes the need for solid corners who can play the bump game well because outside pressure is probably not going to get there on the quick release routes anyway. Priority on Defense is CB not edge rusher IMO. but we also need to fix the dam offense once and for all!
Drafted Perriman, Stanley first round the past 2 years. That seems to skew offense in my book recently.
paying a backup safety 3mil + is bad management when you just invested big dollars in 2 starters over the past 2 offseasons. i just dont see the value or performance on the field, and he is injury prone. the priorities should be the GAPING holes you have at other positions. if you have plenty of cap room and it doesnt matter, ok. but there is not going to be money to sign other veterans where they are actually needed. this is an achilles heel of this front office. acquiring too many players at positions they are not needed. they are overlapping and nullifying their draft pics with overpaid veterans. viscous cycle.
This is the problem I have with the Ravens overall plan. Why are you signing 6 mediocre WR and specialists, and talking about drafting a WR? You cannot do both. Every one of these seemingly small contracts is eating away at available cap space to sign others. If you want to give Campanaro a go, fine. But move on and draft a CB or end rather than waste the pick or the contract of the veteran. No need to have 5 TE's and 10 WR's on your roster. I truly think they have no clue.
On the positive side, It is actually slightly amazing the ravens are even relevant given they have drafted zero impact every down players in the past 8 years and continue to really miss on even first rounders, compared to their early success. Clearly something in the player evaluation process is failing them, or they just cannot make the players better due to the horrific coaching. Luckily they have found some decent veterans and hit on those, like Darryl Smith, Canty, Ricky Williams, Steve Smith to cover up the awful drafting and player development. But eventually, that catches up with you and the tide turns against you on the cap. If it were not for guys like Tucker, Orr and Pierce, this team would be scraping bottom. I hope they turn the draft luck around, but I have no confidence in Harbaugh developing anyone into an elite player.
Mosley has been good to excellent, but as a whole, I tend to really not like Alabama players, due to the track record. They have a large number of players drafted and very few of them translate to the pro game as break out difference makers. I hope they go with a pass rusher who actually fits the scheme, or DB. With Jimmy Smith's durability issues, DB should be an extreme priority. If they pass over several quality corners to instead select a WR again, they will be looking at constant exploitation in the defensive passing game if any injuries resurface.
i think Ramczyk would be a better improvement of the offense than making a flashy WR selection, which still leaves Flacco with happy feet dumping off to West every other play. If the line is solid to above average with: Stanley, Lewis, Urschel, Yanda, Ramczyk ... the run and pass game could both improve. I would much rather them go CB. They need to prepare to beat Pittsburgh, New England, and maybe Oakland as the other contenders. Unless either the pass rush or corner play is drastically improved, they will continue to get eaten alive when it counts.
we are not resigning Boldin. he made about $3 mil last year. why are people so interested in him coming back? like flacco, i cannot really recall any dominance or elite play from Boldin outside of that 4 game playoff run in 2012. if the ravens still after 20 years cannot even by chance find a quality wr in the draft process, ozzie should be ashamed of himself. they clearly need a new scout for that position. i mean, they cannot even really find a mediocre receiver. david reed, streeter, malette, doss, figurs ... these are the guys they are selecting and they are practice squad level guys.
I hope Claiborne gets more elsewhere or just chooses to stay in dallas, and saves us from another horrible and desperate FA signing. And the other negative, is they will probably pass over getting a good quality corner in the draft if they sign him, thinking they have solved their corner problems. Would much rather see that invested in young talent in round 1-2. They need at least 2 more quality corners, because Smith is completely over rated and often injured. With Smith, Young, Claiborne (or another vet), and a high draft pick, they would have 4 decent corners to fill 3 spots. There is essentially no other viable corner on the roster.
Even though i like Williams as a player, i do not think he was worth investing 10 mil+ into. I would rather find a slightly less "marquee" name, and pay them well but not break the bank. They are not getting a return on investment on any of these high dollar contracts. Ngata, Suggs, Dumervile, Webb, Pitta, J Smith. None of them have turned into better players than they were. Although Suggs and Doom have had some strong years here and there in their careers, I find both of them disappearing for games or chunks of entire seasons with little impact. J Smith plays about 3 strong games a season. And Flacco has been terrible. To me, this team is a hot mess with no chemistry or cohesiveness.
just what they need. a guy for joe to dump the ball off to in the flats for no yardage. this makes no sense. we do not need a scat back to take time away from dixon being on the field. this is why the ravens are always in cap trouble. so essentially, they have wasted 3 of the past 3 years draft picks (dixon, buck allen, taliafero + signing west) and will cut at least two of them to sign the veteran for several million more, while taking playing time from the guy you have touted as your "number 1". brilliant front office we have.
If Mangold is healthy, he would be decent at a reasonable salary for a year or two. They are not going to pay any of the other players mentioned, so it is a mute point. Revis will want 15 mil a year and he was completely awful the past 2 years. Draft some young CB's and our secondary could be adequate.
If they pass on drafting a CB this high, and draft their 12th interior D lineman or a backup 4th WR, I will not be surprised. The entire front office lacks and insight or self evaluation skills, clearly proven now with 8 or 9 years since drafting an all pro talent at any round. They have proven to be able to find solid interior line guys almost anywhere, (Pierce, Williams, Jernigan) but they cannot sniff a good DB if they smack them in the face. Finding a reason you would not want to take 1 of the top 3 guys this year would be beyond inept. The best player available philosophy is clearly backfiring. The fact that a running back is even being considered is clear evidence these doofuses are beer goggled for some magic fairy dust that is going to fix their pathetic lack of on field coaching. Gayle Sayers could not run behind this O line. They run the ball about 8 times a game. Unless you shore up the line, that would be absolutely useless.
