  1. According to a source the Dolphins are higher on Brandon Albert than Eugene Monroe. So happy to hear this because the only other teams that would make a move for Monroe are the Cardinals and Panthers. I don't see the Panthers paying Monroe more than we are and will get someone cheaper. If they sign Monroe they are going to have to free up a lot of space to sign Newton and others in the next couple years.

As for the Cardinals, I feel they could make a play for Monroe. Their defense is Superbowl caliber and they are a piece away from being up there with Seattle and the 49ers. Hopefully they do not give Monroe more money and I hope they try to go after a different OT whether it be in FA or the draft.

That first part would be good news for us if the report is true. If they do like Albert more I'm curious to see what his contract looks like. I'm hoping it's similar to something we'd do for Monroe.

  2. All of these guys played at a high level with the Ravens prior to getting lucrative vet deals. Haloti for example averaged less than $3 mil. annually during his first 5 years while performing at an all pro level. Monroe has no tenure with the Team and I feel his negotiations are treated more like a free agent signing rather than rewarding a player that has performed well as a Raven during his rookie contract.

I agree. I'm curious, do you think we would offer him the contract he wants if we had not traded for him and kept Mickinne for the rest of the year ?

  3. While I'll never begrudge a player for trying to get as much as possible, especially given the non-guaranteed nature of NFL contracts, but what can't you do with $35M that you can with $45M, just as an example? Either way, your entire family can be set up nicely for generations.

Lol spend 35 million and still have millions left. But honestly I don't see any team offering him too much more than we're offering. I think the difference would be maybe about 2-4 million. So I think where he goes is where he wants to be and not necessarily all about the money.

  4. Monroe isn't a $10M/year LT... he's closer to $7M-8.5M/year. The Ravens can't invest so much in one position (outside of QB) at the expense of our other dire needs (granted, O-line is a certainly dire need). Will be interesting, but I trust Ozzie and Pat will do what's best for the Ravens, as they've always done.

    I was thinking 5 years, 40-45 mil, 8.5 avg, with 17-22 gaurenteed.

  5. Im sorry guys..but theres no magical system thats suddenly gonna automatically get our receivers wide open on every play. Alot of that is the QB being able to find the best option EARLY in the play..and deliver the ball at the most opportune time..and Joe has shown he cant do that consistently.

I think it's more him waiting to long for guys to get open instead of putting the ball in a spot for them to make a play.
