  1. James Harrison (on whether the Ravens offense surprised the Steelers) %u201CNo, they pretty much did what we thought they would do. They just executed well. Give them a lot of credit. They played really well.%u201D I have no doubt they overlooked us and got slapped in the face yesterday. No way we did what they thought we would do. No way
  2. How about this as a possibility. Mallet want to start next year, we need more talent at other positions, Mallett takes advantage of next weeks finale to once again play lights out against CIN, with no real star QB's in next years draft we trade him for a second round pick and use Clausen as our backup.
  3. The referees in the NFL are like a bad waiter at your favorite resteraunt. You love the place so much that you put up with the horrible service but find yourself going less and less.
  4. That thought has crossed my mind too but it probably would have been the end of his career as he would be playing with all of these second stringers. I couldn't be happier for him in buffalo but they set him up with a proper team to allow his success. If he looked bad we may have decided he wasn't a good enough backup and replaced him next year thus never giving him a fair shot to show his talent. Rex has majorly screwed up that defense by switching systems otherwise they would have been a much better team this year.
  5. It takes a ton of lower picks to trade your way up the first round draft board. Search around, I'm sure there are examples of pick value online. It may surprise you to see what it takes to move up only a few spots. That's why I wouldn't be surprised to see Ozzie trade down a few spots if he doesn't see value at 3. He could move down to say the 8th pick and gain a second and third round pick in the process.
  6. Uh, no. A fair weather fan is someone who only supports the team when they are winning. What you are referring to describes more of a fan who wears rose colored glasses. Or as people around here like to say, purple colored glasses.
  7. Wow, just wow. Can you imagine if we cut Flacco and brought in.....? Who are we bringing in again? Flacco would have the new highest contract in the league by the end of the week. Without a doubt. And we would be in the same situation as the Browns for the foreseeable future.
  8. I hope he is playing injured and can get back to his true potential next season. With his 21 million guaranteed and high salary cap hit for the next 4 years there is no way he will be cut. We have seen that Jimmy doesn't have a love for the game as incentive. He is looking more like his first 2 years here which is scary because he showed little effort back then. I really like Jimmy and would love to see him bounce back. He has the talent, remember when megatron was supposed to run all over him and he held his own? The last second Super Bowl stop? He steps up when there is pressure which is a terrific character trait. We just need him to do it for every game.
  9. I'll never understand people's fascination with putting labels on everything. Is Flacco elite? Is Aiken a #1? Who cares, I just want to win. We could and have had teams where everyone contributes to win football games no matter if they are a star or not. For me it's all about the team not the individual players come game day. The teams/games I enjoy the most are the ones where we don't look like a contender on paper but win on the field. The whole Aiken argument is silly because he will be bumped down to #2 or 3 next year if SSS returns or Perriman proves he was worthy of the first draft pick or we bring in another proven vet. Whatever happens he will hopefully be in a Ravens uniform next year and has the potential to be one heck of a #2 or 3 WR. Imagine what he can do without the #1 corner on him all game. He is getting better every week. That is something to be excited about.
  10. With so many needs next year even after our starters get healthy I wouldn't hold my breath that Monroe won't be our LT next year. They will have list of possitions of need and with so many I don't know how far down the list a tackle will be. With that said it seems like the plug and play LT's always go in the top 5 or six spots so this may be our only chance to draft a starting tackle and not have the cap hit for 3-5 years
  11. This is Joe's team. The players know it, the coaches know it, the fans know it, even steelers fans know it. I'm not too concerned about Mallett knowing his place on our team. I'm sure he knows exactly what his role will be and is choosing stability and the chance to grow some more over what he has been through this year in Houstin. With the possability that Flacco may not be 100% at the start of next season should be motivation for Ryan to work his butt off both on the practice field and in the classroom in case he is called upon. Welcome to Baltimore Ryan!
  12. More practicing, less singing. We read about how Elam spent his summer working at foot locker then came back to play horrible. It seemed like Tucker spent most of the summer sending tweets from italy and now he is not clutch. Why can't these young guys just realize they have a job to do and focus on doing it. Past HOF players have routinely said that to be great you need to always push yourself, train and study, train and study. There will be a time for these shenanigans after you retire. I like Tucker as a person but that doesnt mean he is shielded from criticism.
  13. What no late for work today? or is Sarah late for work! Haha
  14. I used to think Harbs was just managing a team run by ed and ray but after seeing how he has kept this team fighting even after we are all but guaranteed no playoff run has me changing my tune. Our guys fight for him. He is their coach and I have a new found respect for John .
  15. I read somewhere that over the past 5 or 6 games we have the top 5 secondary in the NFL in terms of points/yards allowed. They are not as bad as they were when we ended last year or began this one. If that is true then why would we need Cary Williams?
  16. Man Monroe doesnt have a tough bone in his body. He takes the day off when he stubs his pinky. He needs to look at Yanda to see how a real football player does it. Monroe has proven time and time again he can not be relied upon and should be second string next year. His legacy will be that he has no legacy.
  17. I think each ref group officiates 1 game a week. If that's true I dont see why they can't train 4 days a week and work 1 game. The players need extra days off to recover. The refs don't. Let's not forget they are making 1%er type of money. Why not make them earn it?
  18. The owner's won't give up a single penny until they see their own income go down. As bad as the ref's are this year they "may" take steps this offseason but I wouldnt count on it. The odds are better that they will wait too long and try to correct a sinking ship rather than steer it clear in the first place. The NFL owner's are running the league and are some of the greediest people on earth. I love having Steve as our owner but he does not own this team for us. It's all about money, money, money.
  19. That makes 2 wins in a row! Time to root for us to surprise every team from here on out.
  20. So I am pretty sure we will let KO walk next year but how many more years are we stuck with Monroe before his cap hit will be worth parting ways with him?
  21. Say what you want. The Browns have been picking at the top of the draft for a long time. They have a very solid defense and playmakers in the waiting on offense. I cant understand why they can not draft a decent QB but when they do look out.
  22. Jeff Fisher 20 years coaching in NFL = only 6 years with a team record above .500 His words mean nothing
  23. Now with Joe and Justin being out it will be fun to root for our rag tag team of backups to come together and shock the world. Only happens in the movies?
  24. I can't imagine any team tanking a season on purpose John. Maybe some players don't try as hard but this is their job. Some will be let go next year and they need to at least look good on tape to get on another team. The whole suck for luck thing was blown way out of proportion. Believe it or not they were just that bad with no Peyton and a defense that was assembled to be fast instead of stout. They got blown up after that letting a ton of players and coaches go. No one tries to lose. If the Ravens only win one or two more games this year which I suspect will happen, it is because they really are that bad. I expected more from you John. Pandering to the minority of fans with an entire article.
  25. I hope you are right. I am seeing a lot of posters relying on a high draft as our savior for next year. It really was amazing how far we got last year with that awful secondary. What does our dead money look like next year? Ozzie was pretty strapped with this years cap and it shows. Hopefully we have more room next year
