  1. To think the Ravens didnt at least discuss making Ed an offer is a little naive. While I love Rex the DC, Rex the HC has not been successful. Rex is a gambler with nothing to lose. Harbaugh is recognized as one of the best coaches in the league and has to be more measured in his decisions.
  2. All our defensive guys from Rex's era love that man. Many have said he is like a father figure to them so this is great news for Ed Reed. Who's to say he even wanted to learn under Pees? Very happy for Ed and wish him the best of luck in Buffalo.
  3. You have to keep in mind that we had a dominant defense because that was where all of the FO focus was. They are now trying to have more balance between offense and defense. It won us our second SB in 2012.
  4. People love to talk about the right thing to do but in the end he won't be cut and if he was he would be picked up by some desperate team for a huge contract. If life were fair and the league's owner's actually cared about sportsmanship, players like Burflict would be cut and not picked up by anyone. Thats a fantasy world though.
  5. How much is the cap hit for Flacco if he was cut? If it meant we had an extra 20mil or so to load up the team with a new star WR, CB, safety, keep KO then it may not be so bad. We will be discussing restructuring Flacco's contract for the remainder of his time with the team and it will mortgage our future every time.
  6. The cabal is doing what they always do. Trying to make as much money as possible. While I don't think the owner's and commissioner are heartless people the reality is that they are really just trying to cover themselves so they are not vulnerable to future lawsuits from retired players. When the lawsuits started a few years ago the "player safety" mantra came out from the NFL. So now they are trying to make the game safer while also more exciting to draw in more new fans. How do you do that? Create and change rules so the receivers and QB have an advantage and defenses get penalized for trying to stop them.
  7. Why do they not have a gps chip in all footballs yet so spotting the ball is never in question?
  8. You got that right! NFL as a whole is greedy and thinks it's fans are stupid.
  9. How great is it that Burfict cost them the game Saturday! Now they see why no one else wanted him. He is the type of player that may help you win a few games but his total lack of self control will always cost you a game in time.
  10. This ones easy. I hate, yes hate the steelers but have grown to hate the patriots more. Even though the bengals have gotten the best of us a lot lately I don't really care what they do. That may change if they finally win one in the post season. The redskins suck but I kind of like Cousins. I thought he may have a future after he came in and beat us at the end of that game where Ngata crippled rg3. That loss felt awful. Maybe I just like that he helped to quiet all the rg3 hype. And let's not forget about the colts. I was little when they left but will resent them until they are owned by someone not named Irsay.
  11. I worry about using our 6th overall on a CB. It is rare that a rookie Corner can transition into the NFL. Takes time & patience. 2 things most fans don't have
  12. Thanks but I am still confused. My confusion started when rmcjacket said the following "In Webb's case, we don't owe him another dime. If we cut him tomorrow, he will get nothing more from us, despite his contract dictating that he is owed $11M over the next two years. We wouldn't have to pay him a dime of that, because none of that money is guaranteed." If you have the time please take one more minute to explain how that is true. In my suborn mind I can't see why any number but the cap number matters when releasing players. Current salary or dead money it all affects the cap. That's why I keep saying all that matters is the cap and thus you can not say that we dont owe him a single dime. If it hits the cap then it is the same as paying him to leave. Thank you for your help.
  13. I've never been a fan of Pees bend dont break style and have always thought we needed to get back to our big bully history. Obviously Bisciotti likes what he sees and is changing our team to be more in line with the "new" high scoring offenses with a defense that tries to keep the opponents from scoring too many points. Basically a weekly shootout is what the league is becoming. I prefer the older defenses that try to keep teams from scoring ANY points but it is really his team not ours and he will do what he wants to do. Can't blame him for that. Our defense has been hobbled all season and we were still ranked #2 in a few catagories over the last 8 games. Add to that Pees did help us win a superbowl and I'm not sure why we all dislike him so much. I guess we just want a dominating defense again but those days may be history.
  14. I'm not a cap expert by any means so can you please explain why any number other than the cap number matters? I sincerely can't see why. Thanks
  15. You do realize you are not making any sense right? You said we could cut them tomorrow and not owe them a dime. Now you are telling me we would owe them "a lot" in dead money. Which one is it? Money is money. I could see your point if we owed them money that didnt affect our cap next year but that is not the case. Please clarify
  16. The amounts paid are not made public but it was said 2 years ago when teams were coming at DeCosta heard that Steve decided to pay him like a GM in order to keep him. That's all you need to know
  17. Well he is getting paid GM money without GM stress and responsibility. Not a bad deal
  18. I stand corrected. I didnt realize we could cut Webb and Flacco and not have any dead money. That changes my line of thinking a bit. If they have already been payed their "fair" amount I guess forcing Webb to take a substantial pay cut more in line with a safety and cutting him if he refuses has some appeal.
  19. It is the players fault for not living up to their contract. It is the Front Office's fault for over paying them in the first place. What you are describing sounds more like buyer's remorse to me. Their contracts are binding. We have the right to release him but will still have to pay him the bulk of his contract. That would allow another team to make a low offer to him while he is paid by us for leaving. Happens all the time. Yes, bad contracts are created by bad play. Much like buying a used car that runs great the first year but has constant issues after that. You don't go back to the seller and renegotiate. It is the responsibility of the buyer (FO) to do your due diligence before making the purchase.
  20. The writer's on this site have got to stop complaining about Webb and his high salary. There is no reason he should reduce his salary. This is a business and our front office is to blame not Webb. It's like saying oh whoops we messed up on your legally binding contract, lets just fix that real quick. What world do you live in because it must be nice to think that way. You should be more concerned about the huge long term contract they gave Pita just after he had a career ending type of injury. Someone needs to lose their job in our FO. This roster is being mismanaged at the moment. If it's ozzie then maybe he has lost his touch, if it is steve then he should stop and if it is decosta trying to ease his way in then he is not ready. Stop blaming the players, they are the scapegoat for a poorly run front office. Something that feels strange to write but is becoming increasingly clear.
  21. Pitta gave 110% of himself and sacrificed his body for our team while earning a low salary so I feel he deserves to get paid. I also feel as though his playing days are over and Ozzie will make the cut post June 1st to free up some money for summer adjustments. It will cost us for years but we are way to close to the cap to eat it all in one season.
  22. If he wants 4.5 million a year I would rather put that $$ towards a pro bowl receiver and score more touchdowns with less of a need for FG's.
  23. How would you be able to accomplish that while guaranteeing the team you deal with will have a top 6 pick next year?
  24. I'm with ya. Just a possibility, nothing more. The QB market is very thin and this years draft is one of the worst in recent memory for QB's. If ever there was a year for what I said this would be it. Bad teams get desperate for a new QB and with Malletts quiet time at NE he may persuade all those teams that avoided him that it was an underqualified coach obrian that caused his issues in Houston. He completely mishandled the QB competition like they are college students and not the proffesionals that they are.
  25. Just as I am sure we will be a different team next year our opponents will also be different but on paper this looks like a great schedule
