  1. Lmao. Really? You don't think Rivers is a good qb? Rivers deserves more credit than he currently gets. Look at all his "weapons." His OL situation is basically our CB situation on a yearly basis. Yes really, I think Rivers is a good QB but that's about it. When I look at a future schedule and see NE, PIT, DEN, GB, ect... I put those in a possible loss column. I may see SD as a tough game but not a loss. It is only my opinion, doesn't matter to me if you agree or not. I think we have basically split most of our games with them. I understand that everyone now a days likes to use stats for EVERYTHING but I feel they are more of a tool used by people to make their point seem valid after the fact. And that's fine for some people
  2. OK, but there really are a lot of guys who win when it matters. Brady, Flacco, Roethlisberger, Manning's, Brees, Rodgers, Wilson. That's 25% of last years starting QBs who have all hoisted Lombardi's and have had previous success in the postseason. And THEN, you start looking at other successful postseason QBs who haven't won a SB, like Rivers and Luck. Heck, even Kaepernick has four postseason wins. You're looking at 8-10 QBs in this league right now who have proven they can win consistently in the postseason. And that's just QBs... that's not even including every other position on the field. Hence why this notion of being a "winner" isn't nearly as rare as people make it out to be. Maybe the best way to look at this is based on opposing team perception before a game. I worry more before a game against the Brady, Rodgers, Wilson games than I ever would against someone like Luck or Rivers. I never understood why people view Rivers as anything but mediocre. Have you ever worried before playing the Chargers? Me either.
  3. I don't see the benefit in cutting Monroe next week. I think we have something like 8 million left in cap space. I think we look pretty good at all positions except ILB. My hope and probably Ozzies is that a starting vet is released sometime between now and August. That 8 million is more than enough. I think if someone really coveted by the Ravens at any position is available then maybe they let Monroe go to sign them. Otherwise I dont see the urgency. Thoughts?
  4. I SO agree with you.....Monroe only missed like 5 games or so in 5yrs with the Jag's. Sadly he has missed a lot of games with us, which I am quite sure he was not happy about either. When healthy, Monroe is quite capable of protecting Flacco and the left side. Sadly, with injuries, you just don't know when and how bad they are going to be. Didnt I hear that Monroe had surgery last fall to hopefully repair whatever damage he has and that after almost a full year of rest and rehab plus a little luck, he may be past being so injury prone this year? maybe he will lock down the left side at LT while Stanley takes over at LG? I feel like a big part of the reason the Ravens chose Stanley is because of his versatility on the line. A year at LG may be beneficial to him and the team as a whole.
  5. My hope is that Dixon has a decent year rotating in as depth and next year takes that leap into our #1 back. That's how I remember Rice coming in as a rotational player with McGahee and LeRon only to really take off the following year. If I remember correctly not many were even talking about ray rice until that second year. Oh how social media has changed the world.
  6. That's a bit of a stretch, considering they're only going to add one team on each side. Note that in most cases where a 7-9 team makes the playoffs, its as a division winner, not as a wildcard team, and they're only looking to add one wildcard team. If the NFL added one additional wildcard team on each side, in the last ten years, here would be the records of those teams.... 11-5 - one instance 10-6 - six instances 9-7 - seven instances 8-8 - six instances So the sweet spot range of record for adding an additional playoff team would be between an 8-10 win team. In the last ten years, 70% of the teams that finished 7th in their conference had a winning record, and 100% of them finished at least at .500. I hope your right. Maybe the recent years of having such poor records in a few divisions is fresh on my mind. Having 3 wildcard teams and 4 division winners is almost like having 2 teams from every division play in the postseason. Or let's say hypothetically the Browns catch up to the rest of the AFCN, All 4 teams from a single division could be in the playoffs? That to me would make it look watered down. I am only concerned because I care about this game.
  7. 1. The NFL is just creating the PERCEPTION that they care about players. They don't. 2. They're not concerned with injuries per say. They are concerned with head injuries, by which less practice time would lead to less opportunities for that to happen. The NFL doesn't care if a rookie tears his ACL because he didn't practice enough. 3. The punishment is clearly designed to reduce preparation time for a team, as that's a viable punishment for abusing the practice time you were given. Its all about concussions and head injuries. To understand the NFL's style of justice I recommend reading "Alice in Wonderland" chapters 11 and 12. The process of the trial depicted there by Lewis Carroll seems to me to resonate strongly with how Goodell and the NFL owners run things. Go ahead and read chapters 11 and 12. You'll get a chuckle. It's on the internet http://www.alice-in-wonderland.net/. You do not need to read anything to understand the NFL is about money above all else. They have been exploiting people for a long long long time now. It is only recently that people are starting to wake up and realize the truth. They will also continue as long as people continue to give them what they want, which is more money. Why else go global? How very un-patriotic of the NFL. Wait and see what happens when they expand the playoffs and it becomes common to see 7-9 or 6-10 teams in the post season. That may be the moment their greed hits a tipping point and regular season games all of a sudden don't mean as much.
  8. Sounds nice - but this doesn't change the fact that there is one thing nobody denies - that the relevant rule has been broken. And no NFL official or rich owner has anything to do with it, the sole responsible is the coach who ordered the rookies wear full pads. A serious organization owns up their mistakes. Let's not be all Patriots about it, like Kraft and Brady who did anything but admit they are responsible for the deflated balls. It doesn't change the facts of the case but it does affect the punishment phase. Punishment should fit the crime. Five minutes in pads which you then self-correct when this is pointed out by your own team should be punished far differently than a full session or sessions in pads which is caught by non-team members. Judges understand that and rule accordingly. The NFL's leaders past performances in administering punishment in similar events shows they are inconsistent, incompetent and even corrupt at their core. The league needs help here. Why don't they reach out for it? Why is it so difficult for people to understand? There is no difference in breaking the rules or law for 5 minutes or 5 hours. Let's say Watson didnt notify the coach of their infraction. How long do you think they would have continued in pads for?
  9. 1. I never really put much stock in the "lying about player status" thing, because I'd do the exact same thing. If I were a coach, you'd get literally nothing out of me. You'd get a cross between Belichick and Popovich... with even less transparency. I'm certainly not disclosing any medical information about any of my players to the public. That literally accomplishes nothing. 2. He did break a rule, but then again, maybe that was his intention. Maybe he's fed up with nobody listening to his ideas that he figured this would drum up interest in his agenda. If that's the case, it would certainly be worth the fine to do so. Plus, while this isn't an excuse for breaking a rule you knew about, we all know why the rule exists to begin with. Its a rule put in place to give the false perception that the NFL cares about player safety. Its a rule put in place so that when they go to court every year fighting against concussion lawsuits, they can show a judge all the efforts they've made to reduce concussions (except for the one's that really matter). I'm not too worried about John withholding injury info from us. It's the clean cut image that Harbaugh puts out there that I am calling into question. Either you are a moral, honest person or you are not. I also doubt it was some well crafted ploy to draw attention to his cause. It may be a $100,000 personal fine. Rich or not that's a whole lot of money. I think you are giving him too much credit. Sort of like how conspiracy theorists give the government too much credit. Most of the time things are exactly as they seem.
  10. Either you live a life of honesty or you dont. It's not about 5 minutes. Do you really think that they would have stopped after 5 minutes if Watson didnt speak up. That's why it's a big deal.
  11. I'm really starting to think Harbaugh is not the upstanding coach that he tries to portray in the media. I think most fans have already stopped believing what he says following constant lies about player status and now his blatant breaking of the rules in camp. It's not about the 5 minutes they wore pads, it's a question of how long they would have worn them if Watson wasnt there to catch them.
  12. I assume you mean Keenan Reynolds and I know what you mean. Why all the energy spent to discuss a 6th round pick? Talk of giving him 19? I feel like he will make the team even if he shouldn't simply due to the fact that the Ravens wouldn't want someone like the Patriots snatch him off the PS. I mean, I hope he turns into a real play maker for us but he must be the most hyped up 6th round pick in history. Not to mention the added pressure being put on his shoulders. What are they doing and why?
  13. Using the ol #19 jersey huh? Why would they do this? Seems to be that number along with 52 and 20 should never be used again. Man the Ravens really have a man crush on Reynolds. What makes this 6th round pick so special? I understand he was a playmaker in college, played in Annapolis and has high character but he's still a 6 round selection. They cried when they picked him and now this? Someone please enlighten me as to what I am missing. Thanks
  14. First I would like to applaud baltimoreravens.com for not systematically removing any post involving Monroe and Medical M. This issue IS sports related as it is discussing pain management. A subject any athlete will tell you is a major part of their lives. Second, what does it say when all of the posters are completely aware of the issues surrounding prescription drugs yet they only seem to be getting worse.
  15. At least Monroe followed up his support for MM by adding that he thinks doctors should prescribe less opiates. That is the real fight here. Some think it's perfectly normal to have a society addicted to prescription drugs that turn people into mindless drones. If you are hooked and then cant afford them because greedy pharma bleeds you dry you turn to heroin. Sure thats all completely normal. Nothing to see here
