  1. According to live reports, the crowd was heavily into the match and were vastly pro-Rock. It didn't come across well on TV because of the acoustics of the outdoor venue, which was the same problem with WrestleMania XXIV in Orlando. Incidentally, the atrocious Brodus Clay segment was apparently a big hit with the live crowd even though it didn't seem to get much of a reaction on TV.

Merchandise aside, I think this could still build towards a Cena heel turn -- and it doesn't necessarily have to be soon. I would prefer for it to be a slow burn, where we see layers added onto the character so that there's a logical foundation. This could be achieved either through a losing streak or a dubious winning streak where Cena crosses the line a few times (think his attack on Jack Swagger, minus Swagger's burial).

I don't want them to go through with a trilogy of matches, but the seed has been planted since they wouldn't let the company's poster child go without redeeming himself from such a devastating loss.

Daniel Bryan will get at least one rematch by virtue of every champion's storyline rematch clause. I could see them rebuilding him as a main event heel, though, especially with his impending feud with A.J. and a different male babyface.

Maybe he gets the re-match on SD or a Raw.

But if they have a match on PPV, and actually have a good one, I'll be highly ticked. It would be a spit in the face to WM.

  2. Sorry but I wish Triple H and Cena would have won last night.

I don't get why so many people wanted to see Triple H win. It really would serve no purpose at all. Especially now that Trips is a part timer.

Not to mention he'd get killed by everyone for ending the streak because he has so much power over the decisions. Nobody would actually give him credit.

  3. I hope Daniel Bryan and Sheamus get more time at Extreme Rules. I think Bryan and Sheamus can put on great 8-12 minute matches but they just need time. If you really think about it now Bryan can blame AJ for him losing and it adds to AJ/Bryan with AJ eventually leaving Bryan.

It was great to see Kane beat Orton as he deserved it and I am just super happy Rock beat Cena.

Bryan shouldn't get a re-match. There really is no reason for it. Hes already been buried. Nobody is going to take him as a serious threat to Sheamus.

Bryan probably drops to the mid-card. He'll need to work his way up again.

  4. Rock has said he wants to participate at WrestleMania every year, schedule permitting, so I'd like to see Rock-HBK at some point -- perhaps as the main dream match at WrestleMania 30? They hadn't worked together previously, and part of that was due to backstage politics as a result of the Hart-HBK animosity since Bret Hart had handpicked Rock as one of the guys he took under his wing just prior to leaving the WWF.

I also wouldn't mind seeing another Rock-HHH match, though that could probably be booked for SummerSlam instead. I also wouldn't have any complaints about Rock-Austin IV at a future WrestleMania.

Yeah, I've heard about HBK and Rock not wanting to work together. But I don't think neither really holds a grudge at this point. At least I hope not. But HBK wrestling again would be very tricky if they want to make the retirement match against the Undertaker feel important.

All those matches would be great, but 2 you didn't mention are Orton and Punk. I think those would be excellent matches as well.

  5. If Cena makes Rock look bad and/or Taker loses i'll quit watching WWE.

I truly have no idea whats going to happen. I'm really hoping the Rock wins, but I'm expecting Cena to go over.

But I can assure you Taker isn't losing. lol

If anything I can see Michaels screwing Triple H.

  6. I'm guessing it's because Miz needs more help at this point in his career than Orton, who is #2 and already established.

Why would anyone care about a Rock/Miz match anyways? Dude has turned in to a joke.

He'll need to do a lot before he'll have the credibility to make people believe he has a chance against The Rock.

  7. Arda Ocal had good points about The Rock seemingly phoning it lately -- and I agree with him: LINK

Granted, I'm the biggest Rock fan here because I idolize the man, but it's my idol worship that also enables me to be critical of him. I know he can do better. He's done better. But, just like I've done with my own show lately, he's relied too heavily on the old standards. I used to look forward to Rock promos for innovation, but instead, I find the same basic formula that I, myself, can (and do) replicate on my show.

I don't want Rock to stop using catchphrases. I don't want Rock to stop pandering to the people. But I want Rock to stop laying down and being complacent just because he knows we'll cheer anything he says. Above all else, I don't want Rock to bend completely to the writers' will of having him go on autopilot just to make Cena look better. Speaking to this last point, if Cena deserves to be in this match with Rock, he'll prove it on his own merits -- and to an extent, his strong mic work of the past 2-3 weeks is evidence of his worthiness.

I think The Rock seems to take the crowd in for way too long. It was cool the first couple of times, but now it just messes with his flow. Just way too much smiling.

  8. I still believe there's value in two main event tiers and two separate brands -- WWE just isn't executing properly, hence why the shows have become SuperShows.

If they unify the heavyweight titles, then they need to place greater emphasis on the Intercontinental and United States Championships as top titles for their respective brands. Make them almost as important as the heavyweight strap. Put both belts on main eventers on occasion. Have those belts be defended in the main event of shows. Let the heavyweight championship be a storyline that runs across both shows (regardless of the particular challenger's brand affiliation), but keep the IC and US Titles separate and distinct.

I think that would be the ideal thing to do. 2 world championships might have made sense back in 2003 when you had too many stars, but thats definitely not the case anymore. The WWE is starved for stars, and it shows when you look at the WM card thus far. Most of the main-event stars will be gone right after the event.

  9. That's what's killing me about this match. Sheamus has been the least-hyped Rumble winner of the past decade heading into Mania, and they've done nothing to put the focus on him. They've done more with Daniel Bryan's feud with Big Show than they have in his feud with Sheamus. It devalues the prestige of winning the Royal Rumble if you won't even get the spotlight heading into such a big event.

Yes, Daniel Bryan and Sheamus are over with the crowd, but not nearly as over as they should be for a championship match. Mania should be focused on four matches: Rock-Cena, Undertaker-HHH, the WWE Title, and the World Heavyweight Championship. But, the WHC match has taken a major backseat to the three attractions, and they haven't even devoted 10 minutes to setting up a proper feud on RAW to establish why this match is important.

The match taking a back seat is to be expected, but I was hoping for a better effort to at least make it feel important.

I think they need to unify the world and WWE championship, because neither of these titles really feel all that prestigious anymore. Not to mention neither title makes sense. The world champion is just SD's champion, and the WWE champion is only Raw's champion. That would be like the NFL having 2 SB's. One for the AFC, and one for the NFC.
