“We are going to build a football team around Joe, and Joe is going to be another year removed from the injury. We are going to build an offensive line that is best in the league, and we are going to put a running game together that is going to support the quarterback,” Harbaugh said.
WOW, Harbaugh you just figured out what it takes to win...fans have been saying this for years!!!
Yes we definitely need to draft a CB but cannot reasonably expect them to come in and be a shut down player. We need an experienced top quality CB to match with Jimmy, Young will be our starting slot, Weddle on the back end and not sure if Webb is going to stay or not. A young CB to learn the system and come in and help is all we can ask for. I think Young did just that and held his own for the most part this season
That’s exactly the question we have to look at. We’ve looked at it really specifically, so that’s a general overview of it – what it is going to take to be the best defense in the league for 16 weeks-plus.”
Stay healthy and get bigger and stronger in the backfield is a good place to start!
Bye Felicia!!! With the exception of obviously Yanda and knowing that Stanley is a rookie as well as A. Lewis - our OL was atrocious this season!!!! Run blocking only seemed to work when they were holding which negated several large runs by West that killed drives and obviously their pass blocking was horrible as well. The entire right side of the line needs to be replaced!!!
Bye Felicia!!!! Secondary was atrocious this year!!
,,,I know we haven't given our fans what they deserve on the field and I know we've missed the playoff's the last 2 years but we are raising our ticket prices...that makes sense to me
6 minutes ago, BOLDnPurPnBlacK said:Not 3rd RB. Possibly 1st RB.
If we had a gamebreaker at RB, think of how many more games we probably wouldve won. Not saying its a glaring "need," but if you consider the impact having a much better run game wouldve had on this season it makes sense.
You are assuming we would actually run the ball...our OL had no cohesiveness and when they actually did open up a hole the play was negated bc one of them were holding. Having Elliot in the backfield wouldn't have mattered with the line we had...which as of now looks to be the same line we will have next season
Yes, bring in Roman as our Run Game Coordinater - which means Castillo is gone (because what has he really done??) and ultimately Roman will be in place mid season when Morninweg is fired because the offense is slacking again. Am I the only one seeing a trend here??????
Any plan to motivate Joe to play like he did before he signed his mega-contract and lost all financial incentives? If so I'm sure everyone will be extremely interested.
Not fair to imply Joe isn't giving it his best, especially given the huge injury he sustained. Have you forgotten that, even after that injury, he stayed in the game for two more plays just to try to keep the drive going? Basically with one working leg??
Instead, how about wishing for an offensive line that can give him more than 1.2 seconds to throw the ball, and that can occasionally open up running lanes? And maybe some receivers who can get open and actually catch the ball?basically the whole off. scheme and playbook needs an overhaul. watching the gb/giants game the other day made me realize how far behind our offense is. our schemes and routes the receivers run do not even compare to gb. their receivers are spread out all over the field while ours seem to end up in the same general area. they come back to the ball and are aware of where rodgers is in case he needs to be bailed out.
Receiver awareness isn't on the QB, that's on the caliber receiver and the RECEIVER COACH!! All season long when we went up against a ZONE coverage the young receivers would run through the soft spot right in to a man and Joe would throw it to the soft spot in anticipation the receiver was going to sit for the pass. To the average football fan that makes it look like it's Joe's fault when it's not. SSS and Pitta were on the same page with Joe when it came to those plays every other receiver (Perriman mostly) always ran through.
“My quarterback seems happy with it,” Bisciotti simply said.
What quarterback wouldn't be happy with an OC that loves to pass the ball 40 times a game - doesn't arbitrarily mean he's the right OC for the Ravens...
Jimmy Smith's injury was huge in effecting our defense giving up scores.
That's pathetic actually. A guy with history of injuries is one thing but for a defense to fold up (twice) due to one CB going down is the bewildering part
Yeah, the last two games our opponents kept getting the deep plays in (or pass interference call which is the same as a catch), moving down field quickly and scoring in 4th to beat us. I kept thinking 'not on JS's watch would they get away with it this much.' Why the defense (incl coaching) didn't adjust to compensate this weakness faster (at all even) falls into the negs category for sure.
ahhhhhhh, how do you adjust to compensate when the talent of the players you have to adjust with shouldn't even be playing on the team? The talent drop off is ridiculous. Wright and Powers are horrible and need to be released. BUT THEN WHO DO WE HAVE AFTER THAT? Secondary is/should be a major area of rebuilding bc without we can see what happens...
Whoever is in charge of scouting WRs for the draft needs to be fired right now.
You obviously missed the entire point of the article...Nobody is getting fired...

If that doesn't work it's adios along with Wright, Arrington, Lewis, Powers, Elam, Pitta, Watson, Aiken & Zuttah. I expect BWill will want to walk for a big pay day and that the team will really try to resign Wagner, Orr and Guy.
That should build enough cap space that they will be able to hit CB, OLB, WR, S & C hard in free agency and the draft.
Teams that win have continuity - seems you want to get rid of every one bring in new people and then expect to win - doesn't happen in the NFL
40 minutes ago, TheConquerorWorm said:No, you cut Wallace not just because of financial reasons but because of his on-field performance and locker room antics. He consistently disappears during games (after the long TD against the Squealers in the 1st game, he took himself out of the 1st half to "get his head right"). He consistently drops passes. And rumor has it that he sulks and pouts in the locker room and film room. He's a soft, one trick pony.
Aiken is a free agent and is all but gone.
I go into the season with Perriman, FA signing like Garcon/Britt, Chris Moore, Campanaro & draft pick like Corey Davis/JuJu.
Great, so with your marvelous GM skills we go into the 2017 season with a 2nd year receiver who hasn't proven himself, Moore another 2nd year receiver who hasn't done anything, Campanaro who can't stay healthy and hasn't done anything relevant but 1 TD, hedging your bets on signing Garcon/Britt and then have another undeveloped unproven rookie. Brilliant!!!! I can see us winning a SB with that line-up...
Every single one of our receivers consistently dropped passes - that was a major problem this season. Wallace was the 2nd leading WR with TD's and you want to get release him, not happening.
Rumor has it - really, haven't heard that rumor
2 hours ago, Orange_Peanut said:The problem with his route running is because he is so fast CBs can easily detect if he's running long or not. When he does run a long route, the safety will automatically help making it a contested catch. He needs to copy Julio and be able to run multiple releases for just one route (which will take time to learn). All the battles are won at the line of scrimmage. If he can lose a CB early in the route, there's no way a safety will catch him.
Receivers can only realistically run routes that the OL gives them time to. You cannot reasonably expect any of our receivers to run double move or hitch routes when our OL was only giving Flacco 2 seconds. They run a 40yard dash for a reason - when your OC calls plays that are 30-40 yards it takes at least 4 seconds to develop; Flacco was never afforded a lot of time in the pocket this season.
1 hour ago, Drinkmore Beer said:What is so hard about running a slant or a comeback? He's not in a wheelchair.
obviously if it were easy you would be out there running slants and comebacks...
5 minutes ago, BiggMack91 said:he is a true slot WR nothing more he can't be a #1 WR in this league because he lacks the playmaking skill and can't get off the line without giving up his route ultimately horrible first round pick ozzie needs to retire
Pretty harsh for what was basically his rookie year. After one season you're ready to write the guy off. That's pretty foolish!!
He also needs to learn how to get separation in both man coverage and finding soft spots in zone coverage; he needs to learn when to sit in the zone and when to keep running through.
1 hour ago, GENE2407 said:I think sometimes you have to wait for the right coach to come along. I'm inclined to see Harbaugh go...........but for who? Chip Kelly? Some college coach we never heard of? We might have to wait until someone great is available.
If we are waiting for a "great" coach - why would they be available to coach the Ravens if they were "great?" Great coaches aren't fired, they are kept - Belichick
13 hours ago, TheConquerorWorm said:Surprised that Mike Wallace ($5.75 million savings), Ben Watson ($3 million) & Shareece Wright ($ 2.6 million) were not mentioned.
Left up to me, I cut
Wallace
Watson
Wright
Zuttah
Arrington
Dumerville
Lewis
Take that $23 million in cap space and resign BWill ($6-7 million) & Wagner ($5-6 million) and then sign a quality FA WR that can run routes and catch the ball like Garcon or Britt ($7-$8 million).
Restructure Pitta & Webb and sign CB Prince Akumara ($8 million)
Use your 1st Round pick on one of the top CB or DE Solomon Davis or WR Corey Davis.
Use your 2nd Round Pick on whichever top CB falls in the 2nd Round - King/Lewis/White or WR JuJu.
Use your 3rd Round on S Budda Baker or S Marcus Williams.
Rest of the picks use to upgrade C, RB, G, future QB.
I know why you said to cut Wallace is strictly a financial reason - but you would really cut the second leading TD receiver on the team. Wallace had over 1000 yards and 4 TD's. Who do you replace him with? You cut him and roster goes to Perriman and Aiken - how competitive do you expect to be with just them? There is no way to cut Wallace without severely decimating the offense more than it currently is. Feel like his second year with Flacco will be even more productive. If anything I foresee his contract getting extended for a year and reducing his cap hit for 2017.
People need to recall and understand that in 2015 we had $20 Million in dead cap money for players who were either out of the NFL (Rice $9.5 mill to play xbox) or playing for another team (Ngata $7.5 mill to Lions) (Jones $2.6 mill to Chargers). That's $20 million in 2015 that I have not seen a single person on here other than myself comment on. Who did we miss out on in FA because this money was dead?

A) If Dummervil is still playing at an acceptable level (according to coaches, etc) then re-structure his contract for a few more years and low his cap hit next year. ensure it is a result driven contract so he maintains motivation.Zuttah IMHO while still good, it nearing that tipping point. I let him walk and draft a replacement. That leaves them with a starter and backup between drafted C and Urschel (having playing experience). Depths is always good, especially at C.
C) Arrington & Lewis status depends on how many secondary players Ozzie WILL draft. My gut says he does pull the trigger and fill the back end with much needed new talent (3-4 players CB/S) and these guys become cap casualties.
Just B and C could save some significant cap space.
Also Joe's contract is not all guaranteed. Not sure why everyone likes to claim it is handicapping them when clearly, his visible play would suggest he is not making 100% of his contract. Yes it impacts the cap but handicap it? Look at this roster and up and down and prove how they don't have a lot of good value talent despite Joe's contract.
I can prove it - 2 losing seasons in a row - 2 non playoff seasons in a row...on paper we have talent - on the field we have [don't call our guys that]!!!
How about Joe restructures and cuts his millions, $44mill with 15 rolling over into this next year... 24 mill next year too. For an 8-8 QB. Jimmy Smith 12 mill hit 2017 with 13 mill in 2018 for a CB who's not even a top 30 CB in the NFL. Only reason why i'd keep Doom with that 8 mill price tag is because it's his last year and if we wants a chance to get onto another team or even stay you gotta notch more then 3 sacks this season and with lingering injuries. kinda makes me think he was either planning on taking the injury and dipping out to another team or exactly whats going on in waiting out the year for a healthy contract year.
How about you take a pay cut and free up some salary for your company?!?!?!?!
He's not an 8-8 QB, THE TEAM IS 8-8. The TEXANS gave Osweiler $72 million for 4 years - what's that terd done? How many post season games has he won? Matt Ryan's contract was $104 million for 5 years - He's got 1 post season win and he's had 2 pro-bowl receivers his entire career in Roddy White, Julio Jones and had FHOF Tony Gonzalez. Ya'll act like other teams aren't paying premium contracts for top tier QB's. Maybe we should be like the Browns and just get garbage QB's and hope to win every week. How many 4th qrtr leads did the defense give up this season? Nobody is talking about any of those players taking a cut. Hell Webb's hit was $9. million - did we get $9 million worth of performance out of him this year? Think he had 1 pick right? Dumervil was $7 million hit - he started 3 games had 3 sacks. Elam's was $2 million and he managed 4 tackles!!! Wright's hit was $2 million - shiiii give me a uniform, 2 million dollars and I'll run around and let people beat me all day long!!! Powers' hit was $1.7 million - are you kidding me!?!?!? He doesn't even deserve to be paid!!
Hmmmmm, Piss poor coaching Harbs!! We went in to the off-season last year with the same "NEEDS" and didn't address them then and here we are again with the same "NEEDS" watching the post-season from our sofas.
Its a simple fix really, its not that we haven't had good receivers, it's just that we need good receivers who are about 8 feet tall to catch Joes Passes. Simple! smh
Right because every throw the Joe makes is off. What about the ones that hit the receivers in the hands they drop? What about the receivers who can't get open in a zone coverage?
