  1. He's got to come in and win the position, it's not going to be handed to him...but I definitely love the addition!! Another on Oz's FA offseason!! Filling gaps during FA has me scratching my head as to what they have planned for the draft. Without having a true "need" I can definitely see them trading to grab another 2nd round and 3rd pick and I can see them deciding to take the Best Player Available approach as well. I bet Oz's phone is ringing non-stop from other teams trying to offer him the best deal for that #17 pick...I think it honestly depends on who is available

  2. No to Reed and Clark... unless they would sign for the vet minimum.. on 1 year deals

We still have yet to see the post-draft cuts.

I still think there are younger vet options out there but who wouldn't want to see Ed back with the Ravens. I agree, his leadership and mentor ability is immeasurable and worth significantly more than his contract would be. But this is not the Ed of old and he never will be. some of you need to come to terms with that.

True, he's not the #20 of old but he still commanded respect of not throwing to the side of the field he was on...not many other FS's can say that...

  3. Of course Smith is signing. Where else is he gonna go? There is less than a one in ten chance of Ozzie picking a defensive player in rd 1. Rumors of Aaron Donald and Cyrus are a smoke screen. No way. I think as soon as the pick is made everyone will go... yeah that's a good one. It will just make sense. And round two will fall into place and so will 3-5. I have no doubt this will be the best draft class in years for the Ravens.

You need to spend more time on this board; there will be 50% of the people on here saying " I would have picked so and so" or "that was a stupid pick, we need a so and so"

  4. With all these coaches running around whats John going to do? get donuts?

You are a very negative person Crusader - you need to let go of the hate man, it will kill you!!

He's going to do exactly what he's done over the past 6 years - Coach the Baltimore Ravens...did you happen to watch the special re-ran on the Ravens Superbowl?  After Jacoby's TD return Jerry Rosburg walked up to Harbs and said that was a great call, thanks!

  5. Or maybe that's what we WERE, not what we are. The truth is... that's not what we have been the last two seasons. It was who we were in the first 3 seasons with Flacco and most of the 4th season, but since the AFC title game loss in NE, that's not who we've been.

We weren't a control the clock team in 2012, because our defense made sure that they wouldn't get off the field until a team got to the 20 yard line (granted they were sound in the red zone).

Bull man, the biggest difference between this year and last year is we were on the W side of the close games doing exactly what I said.  How many W's did we have in 2012 doing just that??  It change in the playoff's in 2012 cause no one expected us to become an attacking team, that was by design as well.  John Harbaugh is very methodical in his processes.  Do enough on both sides of the ball to be in position to win the game at the end - that's it!!

  6. Perhaps we are ignorning the most important question... what does this do for Flacco? We know a Kubiak-led offense likes the stretch run and likes to do play action a lot, emphasizing TEs. That likely means Flacco under center more often, which historically, he hasn't been as effective in. I would say Kubiak's offenses have always been a bit more on the conservative side, so that might mean less deep throws down the field, which makes sense given that we likely may lose Jacoby. To me, our choice for OC and system should be based around the strengths of Flacco, and not so much about "fixing the running game". It doesn't mean our new OC can't do both, but I think fans are overlooking the impact the new OC will have on the scheme Flacco has used.

It doesn't matter what Joe's "strengths" are - that's not the offensive philosophy of the RAVENS.  It's run the ball, control the clock, take your shots, keep the opposing team out of the endzone as much as possible, stay in the game and hope to have the ball in the last 2 minutes with either the lead or the possibility of taking the lead for the W.

It worked the first 5 years just not so much this past season...

  7. In defense of the fans, there's more to it then the "scheme didn't work".  Part of the fans' frustration is that he turned a very good running o line into a wet paper bag.  It may not have had anything to do with scheme, but rather his actual coaching.  The line never got better as the season progressed. In fact, they seemed to get worse.

Blame goes to the players as well; but clearly, Castillo sucked.  But now, if they have all of these other pieces in place, there will be continuity, which should result in better play on the field.

What other pieces??  I haven't heard of any new players or anything - those pieces are still the same...

  8. A another think to remember let John have another bad season.. he will become on the hot seat.. Ozzie isnt a wait and see kind of guy..

Really, how many crap seasons after Billick won in 2000 did Ozzie "wait and see" before they made a coaching change?  While we were all let down with this season, 8-8 was a blessing.  I think Harbs has a longer leash than what you want people to think.

  9. hes a Control freak and will become our downfall

Welcome to the NFL, 99% of coaches have control issues - if you were responsible for an organization wouldn't you want control of it?  He had control of it last year when he let Cameron go and we all were jumping for joy.  Now, you and a lot of other fans want to complain about him being a control freak.  SMH #clueless
