What we need to pray for:

-2 QB's go before us (CLE, DAL or San Fran trades up to number two--which I could see happening)

-Buckner to SD (they really like him from multiple sources)

I still don't like the pool of VH3, Stanley and Buckner...

I think this would be the best case scenario. If two QB's go and someone picks Buckner before us I think that would be 3 players the Ravens were not interested in drafting.

There is no reason to pick up Elam's option. That option would cost close to the amount of a franchise tag. If they picked it up, they would just have to cut Elam and then lose any chance of getting a comp. pick, which is really the best-case scenario at this point--that he performs well enough to earn even a 7th round comp. pick.

You're right about not picking up his option it makes no sense to do it, but do you honestly believe the best case scenario is a 7th rd comp pick? I think he can elevate his game some this year and maybe we keep him around on a low 2 year "prove your worth it" contract. I think that's the best case scenario.

  3. There were no tackling issues in his first year or throughout his college career. in the 2014 season he had a sophomore slump like a lot of players do and then the next offseason the lights supposedly turned on for him and the game slowed down according to all the coaches. He was injured  the entire season so we don't know if it's actually true. I will give him the benefit of the doubt because it was only one year of him struggling with his tackling. I think he can play really well as strong safety if he's not asked to play a lot of other roles, but saying he can play a Polamalu role is going a little far. We'll see what he can do this season but I'm personally still holding out hope for Elam to become a good player for us.

Am I the only one wondering where all these safeties are going to play if we draft one? I feel like there might be a competition between Pees and Trestman on who can sign more safeties or tight ends. I love that competition though.

Im guessing the guys towards the bottom of the roster like Nick Perry and Brandon Trawick will not make the roster.

Funny because I was just watching some of his Florida tape. Tbh I still think he's got talent and can be a great S. I just hope we don't ask him to cover too much, because he's not good in coverage.

But if our secondary can continue to improve and add pieces + a good cover ILB to manage the TEs we could let him play as our In The Box SS (and not worry too much about the WR and TE) because he would be terrific in that role.

With Weddle, Jimmy back in shape, Shareece still improving and possibly another CB and a cover ILB in the draft, we can be solid in pass coverage, and that would let Elam be an impact player on the perimeter.

I agree 100%!!!!! I loved him coming out Florida! My brother is a huge Gators fan and every game I watched his senior season I found myself saying who is this guy and how can we draft him.

What about Terrence Brooks?  At this point Elam is a 1st round special teams player..maybe not even that cause he cant tackle .

I feel like he has all the athletic ability in the world but hasn't gotten there yet mentally. I like him though I feel like he could be a good player if he can catch up mentally

I don't understand the scare few of you have of Bama backs. If Henry played at OSU and Zeke at Alabama, would you be scared of Elliot?

It might sound dumb but a little bit. The thing with Alabama players is that the system is so good that a lot of the times they can seem to be more talented than they actually are.

TJ Yeldon just had a strong rookie season in Jacksonville. Lacy is good, Ingram is good. Who knows what Richardson is anymore. I'm not advocating for Henry, as I don't think we should spend a draft pick on an RB at all considering our defensive needs and our current plethura of RBs (Even if there's not a clear #1). I think having three starters in the NFL right now means you're putting out a good bit of talent and it's worth looking at. Still, Henry is a really risky pick when you factor in his lack of lateral mobility and deficient hands.

Yeldon was not the starter and they just signed Chris Ivory so not a strong vote of confidence. Lacy has struggled recently although he was good his rookie year, but I will give you Ingram he's a good RB.

  9. I think he can improve because those weren't issues he had in college. If he can get his confidence back up I'm optimistic that he can play better. I think if he can build on his last offseason I would rather see him next to Weddle not Webb.

Tunsil is not putting on much muscle without overbulking. Jaylons knee is an if. Ron Stanley is a real college student with a real degree. Not an athlete who happens to go to classes. He clearly cranked up the intensity several notches when he dominated Leonard Williams. So football is important  to him. A challenge excited him and he wanted to win the confrontation. So he will work in the nfl and hit the weightroom.  So he has shown work ethic and competitiveness. I agree his interview is necessary to draft him. I understand there is much to prove about his game. But same can be said about your top6 players. Buckner I do not like very much. Boss I'm a fan but he has not checked the boxes. Hargreaves was toasted. There is more excuses for Ramsey not making big plays than big plays. Jack is not penciled in as the next Patrick Willis or even Luke Kuechly. He is the safest player next to Tunsil. The best player in this draft Nkemdiche has character drama. You could make a case Ron Stanley is as good a player as any in the draft. He holds blocks is athletic intelligent has balance long arms and although he could use some muscle he shows a very stout anchor.  More so than Tunsil. His only question is will he turn his attention to weightroom after his graduation.  My opinion he really will. He showed work ethic to get his degree when it us not really necessary. And he shows pride in his play when he turned up the intensity to dominate his confrontation with Leonard Williams.

You keep going back to one game against one player. Do you have any other examples of him "turning up his intensity"?
