  1. I read a few comments, first JJ is not a slot receiver. He isn't a full time #1 or #2 guy but he has speed which means putting him out wide. He isn't a hands man like a typical slot guy, he often catches the ball against his body and not with his hands. Steve Smith is 34 will be 35 in May. Yes he has lost a step but he lost a step from a guy who ran a 4.39s 40y. Just to make that clear Torrey Smith ran a 4.41s 40y. Jacoby Jones ran a 4.50s 40y. My point is he had extraordinary speed so what does that make him now fast? Can you imagine these three on a three wide set. or throw in Marlon Brown who is what 6'4" and runs a 4.5 to 4.6 40y and that could be one hard 4 wide for any team to cover. Also lets not forget about Aaron Mellette at 6'2" who also runs around a 4.40 to 4.50 40y. Smith gives us a leader and experience. Unlike Boldin, Smith had speed and at this age probably still has more speed than Boldin had when he came into the league. Anquan Boldin 6' 1/2" 4.71s 40y. Just imagine being a defense that has to cover that 4 wide set with any of those 5. Torrey Smith or JJ get the #1 CB, Steve Smith gets the third or fourth best cover guy on the other team and even at his age can eat most #3 or #4 pass defenders alive. I have no problem with that situation at all if we get Steve Smith.
  2. You are implying that Ray Lewis was the leadership. Ray Lewis was a lot of things, but the defense was sucking even before his injury last year. I have been a Baltimore sports fan since I could walk. I still treasure the first time I saw Brooks, Palmer, Belanger, Bumbry, Grich, Powell and Blair play for the O's at Memorial Stadium, or watched Bert Jones, Lydell Mitchell, Bruce Laird, Mike Curtis, and Stan White playing for the Colts. I remember watching the Colts loss the divisional playoffs 3 years in a row, twice to the Steelers and then to the Raiders. That was the beginning of me hating the Steelers.
  3. First Ed Reed was only with the Ravens from 2002 to 2012. This well coached team that he walked into had very few players beside Reed, Lewis and a few lineman left from previous coaches. Reed and Lewis helped younger players learn the ropes on film study, etc... Many of the young players have said that, but they all also mentioned the contributions of the coaches. Everyone is supposed to pitch in their part, that is why it is a team sport and not an individual sport. If Reed and Lewis were coaching the team they did a lousy job of it in 2012 on their side of the ball, because the defense sucked all season. That fact alone makes your view doubful of being reality.
  4. You should probably look into being a fan for another team. Sorry, but the childish remarks of changing the head coaches name that coached the team to the playoffs 5 of the last 6 years and to a Super Bowl win just proves the Raven Nation doesn't need you. As for getting rid of anyone out spoken, the only one that really fits that description would be Ed Reed and he left for more money than he was worth. That was proven by the fact that he was cut mid season by the team he went to and even after going to the Jets did little there. He wasn't let go at all and the reason we didn't offer him more is because he is way past his prime. The only other one that you could possibly include maybe Pollard, but he was just a lousy player beyond the fact that he is a hard hitting tackler. His cover skills suck.
  5. When was he warned? Sorry think you may be in fantasy land, no one warned Harbaugh of anything. First after one bad season when he has 5 in a row before it that he went to the playsoffs, with the fifth one ending in a Super Bowl win. You don't get warned. This season actually went about the way a lot of experts thought it would except for the fact that the Ravens had a chance all the way up until the last game. When you lose Anquan Boldin, Matt Birk, Ed Reed and Ray Lewis in the off season and as bad as it was you still compete coming close to making the playoffs, you don't get fired for that. People can cry about the players we lost but we needed to make change for tomorrow. The front office hoped the changes made this year that we could still be competative and we were to a degree but the truth was last year 2012 we had a weakness in our Oline. Bryant McKinnie in my opinion only did as good as he did in the playoffs because he was benched all season. He has the knowledge how to play but the combination of his weight and age he just can't do it every week and once he is done, put a fork in him. Birk was the strong point because his experience made him a general and he could quickly direct people where they had to go. In defense of Gino, that takes time to develop, first year starters don't play like Birk. Oher is kind of a flip of the coin, if you watch the tapes at times he does so many things right, but I think he is easiliy frustrated out of his zone. From the point on it is just down hill. Then 2012 compared to 2013 you had two injured(one injured one still recovering) guards that were never on their B game let alone A game. The injured one getting replaced by young blood playing out of position. There were many problems in 2013 but we all know must of it came down to the Oline and the coach has little say over that when the front office is the only ones that could go get him replacement players. The front office did what it could on a limited purse. No where in that is some the coach with his record gets warned or threatened with being fired over. Cam Cameron was never known as being quiet. He was actually known for being very locked in his ways and not being one to compromise is any way or form. I think what many forget is that 2012 when they had a healthy QB, Redskins offense was in the top 5. People are saying we should hire Gary Kubiak, but two of the three years the Texans offense was in the top five under Kubiak as the head coach, Kyle Shanahan was the OC. Also the Redskins problems I think were more Kyle's dad than Kyle.
