    Really...you expected a positive prediction?

You know I'm right even if you would never admit it. We are a mediocre football team , with average players who are under-achievers. We are poorly coached and lack speed, talent and depth on our roster. We have 1 player in consideration for the pro bowl. Even tho we have a decent defense we are not winning games with the D anymore. That time has passed in the NFL.

If you think I enjoy posting these same lame predictions about my team you are wrong. But the nauseating part is they are almost always right.

I'm not here to blow smoke in the huddle I'm just here to do the Super Bowl Shuffle.

In order to win, a team must first be competitive. On Sunday, we were not even competitive against one of the poorest teams in the league. Of course, the responsibility is shared. The O-line stunk like a skunk and that's bad. The penalties, while fewer, were stupid ones and were indicative of an undisciplined team. A long run by Terrance West was negated by one of those costly penalties. We gained less than 10 yards on the ground. We didn't get into our opponent's red zone once. The team lacks a killing instinct. Again, we got off to a 10-0 lead and could not build on the lead. The depth chart on this team is extremely shallow. Just fill in the blanks here. The Ravens are a(n) _______ team, coached by a(n) ________ head coach. I have filled in the blanks but will keep my answers to myself. Mike Florio of PFT picked the Ravens as the AFC representative in this year's SB before this season began. After the Jets game, he stated on his weekly show "BTW, the Ravens stink." John Harbaugh cannot, I repeat, cannot motivate his players because that comes from within. He is only responsible for providing an environment that is conducive to motivating them. He is, however, the most responsible for maintaining the morale of the team 'cause that starts at the top and trickles down through the ranks. If you don't believe it, just ask anyone who has served in the military. For the first time in 4 weeks, there was nothing John Harbaugh could have done on Sunday that would have made a difference with the possible exception of knowing the rule about spotting the ball after a blocked FG attempt. We simply were not competitive. To whom, if not "Harbs", does the responsibility of fielding and coaching a competitive team belong? I suggest two people are jointly responsible: one is a so-called wizard; the other is not. It has been suggested by some fans and pundits that if the team's fortunes can be turned around, then John's future is secure. Certainly, there is still time to turn the season around. Unfortunately, I see nothing to suggest that the team's fortunes will turn around in the second half of the season.

The trauma will be burned in your memory for years to come. We all may end up needing therapy before this is over.

Wonder if I can bill Biscotti?

Don't bogart that bottle buddy !

I think I understand why wizard1 wants him so much now. Under McDaniels he would be able to complain and criticize the Ravens much more than he already does and even better; we would all agree with him. Makes perfect sense from his perspective.

Yes it is all part of a bigger picture. I see you are starting to grasp the concept. Well Done!

Yea i don't really get the hate on McDaniels either,  he is a great OC,  I am curious what he could do for flacco.   The issue in Denver was he had complete control of the roster if I remember correctly.   While you and I disagree about Harbs,  I would like McDaniels here if we were to let harbs go.   Sometimes you just need a fresh face,  I think harbs is on the hot seat next year.

Cool that we can agree on something ! So does that mean I don't know what I'm talking about either ? HaHa

Here's the thing that gets me about you all and Josh McDaniels. Again, not advocating for him necessarily, but I would love him on this staff in some shape or form.

He was given 28 games. We give players a full 48 games, sometimes more, to prove their worth. Why can the same standard not apply to coaches? Is it because double standards are nice and convenient? I'd venture that the answer is yes.

A player is given three full seasons, but a coach who has to craft a 53 man roster and manage an entire coaching staff is fairly judged after 28? Makes sense...

Moreover, if there were no second chances, we don't see John Fox in Denver (who won the AFCW for four straight seasons), no Kubiak in Denver, no Andy Reid in KC, no Bill Belichick in NE, no Pete Caroll in Seattle. I mean, do you all realize how difficult it is to be a first time head coach (especially for how young he was). Do you also realize people can learn?

Thank you for this post. You so right. The perfect example is Bill Bellichek. Who got fired in Cleveland even tho he had a winning season. Look where he is today. McDaniels deserves another chance and he will get one. I just hope it's here. Let's put it this way-could he really do any worse than Har-Ball ?

I agree with all that as welll to a point. I think limiting those padded practices does hurt the players/coaches in proper prep time etc however, that would be the scapegoat only if that were true of every team in the NFL and it isn't.  We're trying to use an old school system in an NFL that has moved on. Even some fans still call for it - and in reality, it no longer is effective due to rule changes, faster and more athletic players, a lot of different reasons.

I do think our fear/inability/ bad judgement (whatever the reason) in not obtaining talented coordinators above mediocre is an issue. Harbs has no background to speak of in either offense or defense and he relies more heavily on the knowledge and decision making of his coordinators. Ours have been lackluster or downright bad in his entire tenure here. That needs to change if we want to compete.

I know it seems hypocritical to call for new coordinators & then say we need more consitency offensively but both are true. We can't have the revolving door for veteran WRs while not retaining any WR at all. It is absurd to believe that Flacco & the WRs are going to click and have chemistry when we change them every single season. If our scouts are crap at evaluating WR talent (which after this many years seems to be the case) then get someone in here who is good at it and let's build a WR core that has some consistency. That goes for TEs as well.

And when exactly do we do something about our dismal O line? I mean, our O line overperformed in our SB run so it has been pretty bad for a long time.

I love Ozzie and he will remain one of the best GMs around forever but, with our current drafts I do have to wonder if it just isn't there anymore. It happens to the best.

It's good to read that some are starting to stand up and say enough is enough. Ozzie's "plug up the hole with a quick fix" doesn't work anymore. We are a football team with little talent, no depth and no identity. There is no ferocity, no leaders, no Pro Bowlers except for Justin Tucker. The coaching staff is out of touch with the new NFL style of play. We cannot finesse anyone, we do not intimidate anyone and we are no longer the Baltimore Bullies.

Playing like a Raven is a saying for history. Obviously it means nothing to our current roster. We are a broken team. When it's broken you have to tear it down and start all over again from scratch. We have the foundation so let's build a new house.

I love Harbs, but I think his time is up... this team is ill-prepared too often and his coaching decisions on and off the field have been meh. We need a new voice, not to mention this putrid offensive system needs a complete overhaul... Ozzie also needs to be evaluated. He's not Superman anymore. Far from it. Too many bad drafts. Too many slow, non-athletic skill players.

Amen. As this season progresses it will be apparent that Har-Ball has to go and I'm excited to think we may start rebuilding and things will start to improve.

Shoot even if Mallet has to start I'm condfident we can win  this  game if we get stanley, Wagner, jimmy and Mosley back. Our defense will shut geno down and probably put up some points on their own. Then we just punch the ball down their throat with west. Mallet has a cannon so we'll still be able to stretch the feild as well. Let's hope it doesn't come to that but I'm confident either way.

Boy oh boy you sure called that one huh? NOT

    It is funny.
People here talk about cleaning house.  Harbs, Ozzie, Pees, and Marty on down the line.
That would be completely insane.  It would take so many years to rebuild after such a shake up. ( see Browns )
The best H.C.'s, GM's, OC's and DC's are not going to come flocking to Baltimore to get in line for an interview.  Many of the best are under long term contracts and sometimes love the organisations they work for.  It is not like Biscotti is going to stroke a half a dozen checks and and we will have a world class staff.  It just doesn't happen that way.  That is not the real world.

Man it happens all the time. In fact it's happening right now in politics. There is no difference here. Harbaugh is done in Baltimore - just open your mind to the new and exciting possibilities if we can get Kyle Shanahan or Josh McDaniels  in here. A new and fresh start. Hit the reset button. Reboot the system. Change is good!

I understand all the Harbs backlash and believe me i'm not here to back anyone off those feelings. However I don't think he's on the hot seat. It'd make sense if he is, but I think the heat will come from the fans more than the organization. I think the Ravens mainly Mr. B will look at Cincy and the Steelers as examples of how staying loyal to a good coach can pay off in the end. I don't think anyone can argue that Harbs is a good coach, it's just that losing makes everyone look worse than they are. There were times that both Lewis and Tomlin were being held to the fire by fans/media and while I'm sure the Owners had some private discussions with some of their most trusted advisers, they stayed true to the structures they have in place.

Both those teams improved by developing their oline talent and that lead to their offenses improving. The Steelers basically just found the right combo and allowed them to work their issues while the Bengals drafted their oline. Then they built their teams from there. Talent at WR, RB, and so forth.

I think the Ravens will stay true to Harbs. The hope is that this 4 game skid is the worse and the young talent on the oline can get healthy during the bye. There are still many other areas of concern, but i think if you fix the oline things will look a lot better and Harbs will be safe

Stay true to Harbaugh? You act like this is some personal commitment. This is a business pure and simple. Harbaugh may have been a good coach in the past but not anymore. His style ( along with Ozzie ) does not fit in today's NFL. I promise you with all of my vision of the future John Harbaugh will not be the Head Coach of the Baltimore Ravens in 2017. It's a business not personal.!

Well, think of it this way. If fans think this team isn't very good, and obviously the talent isn't up to par (which it clearly isn't)... why would you want to keep the same roster in tact?

Of the FA's, there's only a handful of players who we would actually want to keep as starters/quality depth, because a lot of the players on that list are depth and we are clearly lacking in talented depth.

Of the cut candidates, Dumervil is certainly one, but I don't think Webb is at this point. He's in the final year of his deal in 2017, and I think they'll look to extend him at a cheaper rate reflective of his new position. I don't think he's been spectacular at safety, but he and Weddle together have done well at safety this season in my eyes, and I think they like that combination. In particular, if there's a movement to get younger and better at corner, having a veteran safety core makes a ton of sense.

I'm also not convinced they will cut Shareece Wright either, unless they significantly address the position in the offseason. The cap savings isn't that great for a corner who would be pretty good as a #3 in my eyes. But some of the other guys, like Watson/Lewis/Zuttah/Arrington are no brainers.

Just one more time that proves not only do you not know anything about football in general but you know absolutely nothing about the Baltimore Ravens.

You guys really make me laugh. This is Har-Ball and Ozzie at it's best. They are the culprits.  Replace them and we have a good start. Ya' all think it's the players. Well part of it is the players but the bigger part is the coaches and GM that puts this team in place. Once and for all get Har-ball and Ozzie outta here.

Wallace, Richardson, Watson, Stanley, Correa, Forsette and again Forsette, Perriman, Hester, Mallett, Jake Long, the list goes on and on and on. Fined by the NFL for rules violations. Dishonesty about injuries. Really poor drafting. These are coaches and GM decisions. We are laughing stocks in the NFL. Teams are making fun of us. We look like idiots. It's gonna get a whole lot worse before it gets any better. As with any failing organization ,you start at the top and work your way down.

Let the ball start rolling tomorrow. Together we can create a movement.

I know the season isn't over but I decided to look into 2017 and the Ravens roster might be a mess.

    2017

    FA: Ricky Wagner

    Brandon Williams

    Steve Smith

    Kamar Aiken

    Matt Elam

    Lawrence Guy

    Anthony Levine

    Will Davis

    Kyle Juszczyk

    Jerraud Powers

    Devin Hester

    Ryan Mallett

A good amount of depth players along with starters are projected FAs at this point.

The cut candidates just based on poor play, overpay, cap room, and injuries leading them to be unavailable

    Elvis Dumervil

    Lardarius Webb

    Benjamin Watson

    Sharecee Wright

    Jeremy Zuttah

    Kyle Arrington

    Kendrick Lewis

We have a lot of holes going into next season, I'm not sure a draft and offseason pick ups will may this team any better next season

    LOL, yeah this isn't true.

There is a grand total of ONE ticket available on the official Ravens ticket market for the Ravens/Steelers home game in a few weeks.

Plus, its not like anybody really cares about selling out NFL stadiums anymore. Ticket sales are only the third biggest revenue generator for NFL teams, and not selling out a few hundred tickets really doesn't matter that much.

Plus, as usual, I suspect when you actually get within a few days of the actual game, you'll find most will be sold. They almost always are.

    Much ado about nothing.

Thanks for making my point for me. Tickets sales are indicative of loss of a fan base. It's is being borne out by our appalling lack of nationally televised games. How long do you think a losing team is going to be supported here in Baltimore? Ad infinitum?  It's more like your posts are ad nauseum. Make sure you take a good look at the empty seats during the Jets game. That's what happens in every city where teams become perennial losers. Another losing season and guess what? We become perennial losers. Sooner or later stuff is going to hit the fan.

Better than whom the Jets with Fitzpick6 at QB or better than the Ravens?

Geno Smith is awful. I would gladly take a Matt Scab over that guy.

Are you serious? Geno Smith is mobile and elusive and we always have trouble with mobile QBs. The Jets are a better team with Geno Smith. But that's not the point. The point is the Ravens and the Jets are 2 examples of teams clearly trending downward. It's almost mid-season and none of our remaining home games are sold out. That is a very bad sign and does not bode well for the Harbaugh regime.

  17. No need to drag this prediction out. I have us winning 2 more games this year and initially this was one of them. ( Bet you can't guess who the other team is ) But the sad truth is we are an awful team and even with Flacco playing we are still awful. However the Jets can really stink up the joint but are a better team with Geno Smith. This yawner of a game will be decided by an offensive turnover and late field goal. Jets win  16-13.
