  1. The Browns have more than enough cap room to match any front loaded deal. The key is not to front load the offer but to make most of the guaranteed money come out next year (and the following year) when the Browns will have to try and resign Joe Haden, Phil Taylor, Jordan Cameron and then Josh Gordon

The game changer for Mack may come down to our penchant for going to the Playoffs regularly! Let's hope!

BTW that is one bully av, Worm! :banana1:

  2. Every year, when Free Agency ends,... the Raven FO is graded out "Above Average" at the least and typically, "Outstanding"!  :190048:

I am hoping that Steve Smith has matured from the player who squared off at team mates in the locker room because that issue, and his age, - this is a gutsy move by Oz & Harbs!  :sherlock:

By season's end if Steve Smith is as Tenacious as he's been in the past, and IF (a big "IF") Joe Flacco can find him consistently, this duo may be the connection that moves chains (like Mace did) and opens up the rest of the Offense!   :oldwiseman:

I couldn't see him him here but Steve's a Raven now so I got his back too! :th_baby:

  3. Does anyone else feel like the ravens missed out on a lot of key players. they should of went for decker, now that he is gone they should try for Sanders. if they miss out on him we are gonna be in the same stage as last year. they also should go for alex mack and cromartie (because we lost graham). also they should look for players like branden spikes. not only is he young but if we dont get smith back we are gonna need an inside linebacker.

Judging from your being identified as "practice squad", perhaps you haven't been here long! Hoping you've been a Ravens fan longer - Welcome aboard! :banana1:

As per your comment about, "Ravens miss[ing] out on a lot of key players", remember, last year was an anomaly - we were dumping players and filling slots early! Not typical to say the least!

Ozzie usually gets many of his FA signings in August as other teams begin to, reluctantly, trim good veteran players who can be had for less than the early "FA Derby"! :sherlock:

I wouldn't sweat the pace that our FO is working at FA,... I'd say we're "Right on time and doin' fine"!  :oldwiseman:

  4. Hope we finish second in the sweepstakes for Steve Smith's services!

Originally, I was not in favor, then I got intrigued by his "Boldin-like" pass-catching tenacity, but in the final analysis, his overall ego and self-appraisal are both too big for Russell Street!

  5. It ticks me off that they automatically got them winning the AFC Championship....  WAIT...didn't they do that two years ago????  ...and they had them winning the SB last year too.....  SMH....  They are NOT unbeatable... nor will they be this year either.

True that, Mom! I love watching "Dream Teams" crash and burn!

They were also saying that Seattle's sound thrashing of the unstoppable Broncos' offense is fueling all the inflated FA interest in Safeties and Pass-rushers,...  bohica  :surrender:

Yet, Ware is the "missing piece" in Denver? :268213:

  6. lets just blow all our money get Revis, move webb to FS. and go back the D of the early 00 and say heck with the Offense lol.

    Sure! Why not? :eyes:

According to ex-GM Charley Casserley and the rest of the NFL AM cable Talking Heads, we,... all 15 remaining AFC teams may as well not suit up for 2014!

As soon as Denver signed DeMarcus Ware, the Broncos automatically won the AFC Championship! :bitenails:

  7. Yes I agree, but then again the 49ers traded a 6th round pick for Blaine Gabbert the same Ozzie got for Anquan Boldin :)

I don't see where Gabbert's and Boldin's could even compare,... but don't bother responding! Unimportant today!

We lost Art Jones (as expected) but this ain't a bad day in Charm City!

    My sphincter is relaxed! :229031_rofl:

  8. I think people need to get off the Mellette train... and for one main reason that I don't think anybody is considering...

Are you people aware that there is only one football? As the depth chart is currently assembled, Torrey Smith, Dennis Pitta, and Marlon Brown would be the top 3 options in the passing game. Thus, Mellette is the #4 option in the passing game, and the #3 WR. In a Kubiak offense, where TEs are utilized more and we run the ball a lot, what kind of value does the #4 receiver in an offense have?

And remember... that's assuming we add NO WRs in the draft, which seems unlikely.

I'd expect Aaron Mellette to spend the entire 2014 season on the practice squad.

One football notwithstanding,... what kind of Receiver is Aaron Mellette? Does anybody actually know?

So, what you're saying is he's not worth exploring? He's no better than those other bench warmers we just dumped?

I say we have a whole training camp and pre-season to see what this guy is made of! If he shows talents not seen by any of our other Receivers at this point in his career the he deserves to see the field!

And, speaking of spreading the [one] ball around!

How can Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, Tom Brady or Peyton Manning throw to nine DIFFERENT Receivers in a game? Tackle Eligible???

$3 mil is being paid by CAR regardless..  we would only need to pay another $4 IF we wanted to match his currently salary. Something, i think, more in the range of $2-2.5 this yr + 3 next year is more fitting (signing bonus notwithstanding). Smith is a vet guy and probably not going to sign a 1 yr deal.

Hey! I love vet Receivers! Joe just doesn't seem to!

If Kubiak can retool Joe's mindset, then cool, but if it's the same ol Joe of the last 5 years, then Smith will be lucky to see 35 balls!

  10. some of the scenario's being mentioned here you couldn't even pull off in madden.haha. come on, Revis? really...

Watching the speculation on NFL AM is almost as ridiculous and chaotic as reading some 'wish list' comments here!

The only thing they've said that gives me hope is that Monroe's main "suitor", Miami, is prepared to pay KC's Albert $9.5 Mil.

That's good for us on both the money and the serious team levels! Chucky P wants Art Jones and not much talk about Daryl Smith,... so, we'll see at 4:30!

  11. Steve Smith would be an expensive waste here!

First off, Joe doesn't get comfortable with 1st year FA guys regularly! It took him 3 years to find out how to target Q and Smith would only have a year!

Secondly, why? We have Aaron Mellette and there are more guys much younger who wouldn't hit the Cap like Smith would!

  12.

    Ask and you shall receive...

Ravens declined to tender restricted free agent WR Tandon Doss a contract, making him an unrestricted free agent.

Doss would have been due $1.431 million under the low tender, a price he isn't worth. The 2011 fourth-rounder has caught just 26 career passes, and isn't an impact special teamer.

Thanks much,... plus I saved the site! Thanks again!

  13. Harbaugh job is completed, he brought discipline when needed, now we need dynamics, not his specialty, either get an OC with dynamics and give him control over the offense and offensive coaches or face doom. Harbaugh getting hid friends money while he can, is my point of view.

I gave you a Plus,... I like the way you worded that! I, too, want to see an offensive identity established that's not as stoic as has been the case recently!

I would have been a bit more caustic in my statement! Great post! :oldwiseman:
