  1. Saw that part, too, Fan,... read the whole article! in 2014, when teams saw that Justin Forsett was gashing teams, they began stacking the box, especially on 1st downs! Depending upon the opponent, we were able to take advantage of that and exploit them! Last year was a whole different animal, with the injuries and all,... but, the scheme still didn't pan out!
  2. "The Ravens were unable to match the success they had on the ground from the previous year,..." Hmmm, so some say (calling no names) Trestman's Offense was better than Kubiak's? When someone puts a comment critical of the Ravens or a player's play on these boards, it's not because they are haters, or trolls! It's usually based upon what one has honestly seen, what one believes! I am suspect of Trestman and what our offense will look like 2 years from now, given that in 2014, our offense (under Kubiak) was the best it's been in years! Yeah, I know,... Kubiak's gone, but we squandered a chance of sweetening up a deal to lure one of his disciples to remain and take over the helm of the Offense! In my estimation, when we go out a find a mediocre coach we're not here to make him better; and we won't get better! In 2015, under Trestman, Joe didn't improve, the offense was in stasis! There's a good chance that before it gets better, it will get worst - like the Bears - perhaps costing Harbs his job! We shall see! So, let em fly!
  3. Each time I click the "Harbs wants to run more" article, I end up here! They must be able to read my mind about that being said each year! Go figure!
  4. I agree with you! I would have preferred that we'd have lured on of Kubiak's disciples and promoted him to O.C., kept the playbook and made it our own! There are those who agree with every move Harbs makes! Sorry, but I do not! I believe, as the years mount, we'll see less of Kubiak's run scheme and more of the running back-as-receiver manusha that preceded Trestman's landing here! With a Ray Rice, that worked well, but we still need a heavy hitter to "pound that pill".!
  5. Typically, you and 14 others missed my point! But I'll not beef with you on this!
  6. We've been there, in Foxborough,... it's a bad feeling, yes, but that's life in the NFL! We may yet have a similar situation here, with J. T. (nothing's assured for the people who will neg that phrase)! We cannot afford to mess around with this! His % is higher than guys kicking over half their games in domes!
  7. Even $15 Million over 4 years doesn't seen much for a guy who scores points nearly 88% of the time he walks on the field for a fg! His PAT has got to be higher! At some point we need to pay the great talent we have!
  8. Ryan Mallett showed Joe that other Raven receivers besides Smith, Aiken, Boyle and Gilmore can catch!
  9. It seems, sometimes, there are more Ravens fans who are enamored with personalities posting here than those who know football There's definitely room in the Ravens Nation for both, but hopefully, it's the football minds and not the sales numbers guiding the team's philosophy!
  10. ABSOLUTELY! Great point!!! We have Perriman, Kamar Aiken, big WRs Chris Givens & Chris Matthews with Campanero possibly also a Slot! Save Smith for the third Downs!
  11. I still say I wish he wasn't coming back! With what we're observing with Kamar Aiken, big WRs Chris Givens & Chris Matthews with Campanero and we still haven't seen what Perriman will bring, Smith's going to take away reps from Ravens who should be learning to play together! THINK! What difference will Steve Smith actually make when he's dropping almost 30% of his chances? We're not yet a contending team, capable of winning it all and we have so-o-o many unanswered questions! It's really not a smart move to have Smith back when the only thing that will be achieved is him padding HIS individual numbers!
  12. Yes, there is that and the stage is set, yet again, for the Ravens to be spoilers! That would be a splendid two-game end to our dismal season! And,.... I have a Marine buddy who lives just outside of Buffalo and we're been conversing on Facebook all season about Tyrod Taylor! Interestingly, when I mentioned that I'd be rooting on the Jets and why, he said he perfectly understood, and forgave me, gaving me his blessing for such a blasphemy! LOL
  13. I think it's interesting that so many can't be happy with a Back-up to 'Average Joe' for one of the same reasons that a Broadway star suspects that her understudy may turn in a better performance than her - INSECURITY! 'Average Joe's' game is such that there's no gloss and glitter! We win, but usually Joe's games are lackluster affairs, even in victory! Even though we all realize Flacco's the Ravens' Starting QB, many feel they must defend him against any and every critic. If,... for example, we ever saw Joe come off the field and huddle with his Receivers in order to find a way to attack an opponent's Secondary, I'd be the first to ask, "Who are you, and what did you do with Joe Flacco?"
  14. I haven't set the bar too high for this game but I'm excited to see the kids playing for real! What better way to end a dismal season than to avenge our opening home loss in the Bungles house?
  15. Fergiddaboudit, Chris,... SSmith's coming back! Man, what a great game you played against our arch enemy with Aiken and Givens! Sure wish you could make a home here but you gotta get 5 yards separation to get a look! Let em fly!
  16. LOL,... Can't say you haven't nailed me about my,... let's call it "lack of enthusiasm" in Harbs' stewardship! But I took a moment to review Marc Trestman's coaching record in the NFL [1985; didn't coach in 1992- to 94] and it indicates that he's effective as a Quarterbacks Coach [which Joe needs badly]. His effectiveness as an O.C. is negligible [Niners & Cardinals were high points 1 year each] when you gauge the teams' he's coached offensive effectiveness with the prowess of their defenses! Other than that, he left the NFL, coaching at NC State in 2005-06 and was out of coaching [again] in 2007! He's a journeyman at best with a basically lackluster career! I still say had we made a concerted bid for one of Kubiak's "disciples" to stay as O.C. in order to begin his assent to H.C., we'd have been better served! We seem to lack that type of imagination, fan
  17. Not gonna quibble over 1%,...especially using much of Kubiak's system! Trestman's "damaged goods",... and that's all I have to say!
  18. This isn't an insult, or me talking down to you! I am 66 and I've seen the Cleveland Browns for decades before they became this team you've paid attention to for maybe 5 or 6 years it that! I've seen Jim Brown, Jim Kelly, Bernie Kosar and other great Browns' players including Ozzie Newsome! You're basing your opinion on a small sample or repeating what you've heard others say is my point!
  19. Balfan, it's still the run system we had in 2014! I'm afraid that Trestman would "improved" us into the mediocrity that has hamstrung Chicago for the years of his tenure! Alas, he's here now //sigh// and he may end up doing more harm than good as he "tinkers" away our proven zone-stretch run scheme (of kubiak's) for his scheme! We'll have to see what the future holds but I wish we'd have gone 'in-house' and developed a young Raven Oh Coordinator based upon our 2014 prowess and Kubiak's Playbook! Just another example of Harb's lack of imagination in our coaching ranks!
  20. Get ready to let em fly because I'll be glad when we shelve the gold pants and John Harbaugh! The first part is based on on glance last Sunday,... the second is a long standing feeling ever since the "purge" after the SB win! Don't bother to "straighten me out" on the Purge and all,... I'm old, set in my ways! lol Plus, this Sunday will mark the first time I probably duck out on a Raven-Squealer game to do something outside! It's not going to be competitive and may be the perfect time, weather to visit my cousin in the Northern Neck of VA and bring back some fresh oysters and peach moonshine! A 'Meh' season does that, even to one who bleeds purple!
  21. No offense but how old are you? The BALTIMORE Colts beat the Giants in the "Greatest Game yadda yadda" but our biggest rivalries, year in and out, were between us and the Packers and the Browns, That only changed when the AFC forced the merger! Those of us who are still around look on those days as classic times of 'real football'. Today's game isn't bad, don't get me wrong. I'm in favor of the changes that make a difference in player safety but the powers-that-be have embraced high scores and more offense and IMHO that takes away a great deal from the game! I thought I'd reached Nirvana the year of the first Raven Superbowl - winning games w/o scoring TDs, based on the ferocious play of the defense and the prowess of our Special Teams when the Oh was on a low!
  22. The same people who thought gold pants would look nifty are probably the same people who will let K.O. walk the tell us we can't afford him! Who can we afford then? Average Joe?
  23. To you and the other 10,.. I beg to differ, the Browns have NOT sucked forever! They beat our Baltimore Colts in 1964,... They were powerhouses with Jim Brown LeRoy Kelly, Ozzie Newsome and more! Drop the kool Aid and get it straight! lol
