  1. Perhaps we let Daryl Smith walk but if we just miss a Super Bowl bid, Daryl Smith will be a Raven until we carry him off the field on his shield!
  2. Not true, but I won't bicker over the semantics! If Melvin has the better skills this year, he will play a great deal, especially in critical situations, but the big salary guys, like Webb, will get the starts and play a great dead, waving his hands at Receivers catching passes and missing tackles! It's the way the game is played - a multi million dollar guy is not going to sit while a less-than-$1.5 Mil plays! That HC would lose his job if he doesn't win the Lombardi!
  3. This has been quite a pre season for me! First, I admitted that IMHO "Joe Cool" Flacco has shed the "Average Joe" moniker I was fond of calling him and finally showed that he isn't as much a "gunslinger" any more - is learning his position! Now, here's another "First" -- I am liking what a TV Talking Head said! Yup, ESPN's analyst and former AFC rival Tedy Bruschi gave an on point critique of the Ravens and I agree with every word! Yes, I feel just fine and yes, it is me, the MysticDragon! To prove it, lemme say, I still think Harbs is a hyperbole-filled politician! See?
  4. I love to hear about hungry players who don't get the headlines working hard! GUNG HO, young man, GUNG HO!
  5. He's going to be a "Difference Maker" off the bench! The Football Gods deem that a Rashaad Melvin, who is NOT making the top CB Bucks cannot bump a big money starter like Web,... ... but he's going to make us say "Another Corey Graham"!
  6. Play football, young man, play football!
  7. Then, I wish Id had seen the the video rather than read someone's else's appraisal! Thanks and I fully agree that a veteran presence should be there to "Fair Catch" the kick or punt rather than try to make a play! That's, of course, if that vet is reliable enough to shelve his ego during that play!
  8. I like this progress report! One of the things that make me give a side-eye to reports of rookies is the lofty praise given a guy only to see him either end up on the PS or outright released in the case of UFAs. This report gives us a realistic glimpse without giving us a bunch of praise for guys who are actually "treading water" under a new, fast system! When we get to the Pre-season we'll see who's the "wheat" and who's the "chaff"! Until then, this is as clear and concise report as we've had!
  9. Didn't we pick a small school WR who had Return skills? Yes, to even mention SSmithSr and Webb is preposterous!
  10. I would suggest trading Pitta for draft picks, whatever I could get! We have superbly addressed our TE needs so, in my humble opinion, Dennis Pitta's a step backwards, a sentimental tryout of a vet whose "shelf-life" is questionable due to his unsure hips! Therefore, Pitta isn't worth taking away valuable snaps from our young stallions at TE. Besides, his numbers don't even dent Todd Heap's and he's not mentioned in sentences with the words "Hall" or "Fame", so what's the harm in letting him go elsewhere? This will be an unpopular position because of the sentimentality and even pity fans may feel but I wouldn't waste a roster spot on him here considering our drafted TEs and returning guys! I'd see what I could get on the market if he insists upon playing! You asked, balfan; comments & observations?
  11. "And, really, whatever [the media is] saying about that, really, I can't affect that." Glad Maxx is really picking up the Tutorial on "Pat answers for St00pid ESPN Story-Troll questions". Looking forward to watching him becoming a force in our possession game!
  12. Put that work in, Matty! We want you ready if the unthinkable happens!
  13. WAIT! You'd risk releasing a 4th-to-6th Rd TE with a big body, good blocking skills and very good hands on the oft-chance that Dennis Pitta can last an entire season of knocks? While I like Dennis Pitta, we're not talking about Falcon Tony Gonzalez or Charger Antonio Gates!
  14. Welker? Who is now prone to a concussion walking, hatless, in a 30 MPH wind! ESPN's Field Yates says "yes"! And who, again, is Yates?
  15. I think Pitta's a liability here with his questionable health and durability! I say go with the "Kid's Movement"! I would hate to let sentimentality enter into the equation and we keep Pitta only to have him go down, again and for good, while the TE we released turns into a bona fide "Beast"!
  16. An aside from a video here: Why would we want Wes Welker when: 1. we have Campanero 2. we have WRs who will be fighting for snaps already 3. what is he? 60?
  17. Interestingly, both Kubiak and Trestman would have made #27 happy but that's in the past! What's looming is whether Justin Forsett will be a force in the passing game - last year he wasn't!
  18. I'd like to see Terrence Brooks get into the rotation and get a bunch more snaps this year! Perhaps 2016 will be his "break out" year! We see our LBs in their 4th year strut their stuff, why not Brooks in 3? Yup,.. that's the Motto: "BROOKS IN THREE!"
  19. tweeeeeeeet! WAIT! Four must think OTAs mean something other than conditioning and teaching moments! they're just playing "catch"! Not running patterns in ernest, not covering hard! We'll see how we stand when the pre-season begins and then in September, when it means something!
  20. Well, that's a part of what they're for and if he is looking crisp, that's great!
  21. He's at the age that he's coming around, knows how to play his position and,... happily, isn't as "go deep" happy as he used to be! Yeah, it's me,... nope, not captured and replaced by aliens or body snatchers!
  22. If we dumped every Rookie RB for 1 fumble, we'd still have "Bam" Morris as the #1 Back! That fumble will be used as a "teaching moment" in young Lorenzo's career! If he does it more frequently, then I could support your statement, in retrospect!
  23. Can you spell O - T - A? None of it matters or counts until it's LIVE!
  24. He's the "Alpha Dawg" of the RBs so I'd expect Justin to make a great effort at repeating his great season last year! If he has honed his receiving skills, no telling what he's capable of!
  25. THAT, I can see with an Anquan Boldin as the target, but be that as it may, yes, he's learning to play his position well!
