  2. Why not do something similar to Arizona? Play Webb as FS/Nickel, Hill as a SS/LB, Brooks as FS when Webb drops to Nickel.
  3. QB - Flacco RB - Justin, Buck, Enzo FB - Juice WR - Perriman, Aiken, Camp, Butler TE - Crocket, Maxx, Boyle OL - KO, Urshel, Zuttah, Yanda, Wagner (KC will be a key tryout for KO at LT) DL - Williams, Jernigan, Davis, Urban, Guy OLB - Suggs, Doom, Smith ILB - Mosley, Orr, Brown CB - Davis, Jimmy FS/Slot - Webb, Brooks SS - Hill, Elam There is talent. We need coaches to get the best from that talent + winning mentality back + key outside contributors at LB, WR, DB either from draft or FA. The building blocks are still there.
  4. Havent read too much of the forum after the 2 losses to save myself frustration so I may be repeating some of the thoughts, but I think it is simple; If we are 4-4 or better at the bye week with at least 2 of the wins coming against AFCN opponents, we will be juuuuuust fine.
  5. The signing is just whatever. Babin will be purely a situational rusher; don't expect a 2014 doom role. Maybe 15 snaps a game and if he gives us 5 sacks then I would say it would be a success. I still expect doom, upshaw and z smith to have higher snap counts. Also, if our secondary stays healthy we don't need to rely on a pass rush from our front 4-5 necessarily like last year. As you saw in Denver, we had 4 sacks all from blitzing players.
  6. May be true for some or at the college level. But most at the pro is to specialized there is a bid difference between 3-4 olb/4-3 de and 4-3 olb. They are not interchangeable for most.
  7. http://www.gettyimages.co.uk/detail/news-photo/peyton-manning-of-the-denver-broncos-trie-to-outrun-c-j-news-photo/488104688 I am pretty sure. See attached link for picture from game showing green dot on helmet. Goes to show you that the transition to the new era of Defense is almost 100%. I am excited of our foundation of: Davis, Williams, Timmy, Mosley, Jimmy, WHIII (w/ potential of A Brown & Brooks). Those guys (if healthy) give us a great foundation for the next 3-5 years (Is anyone over 26 yrs old in that group?!). Just need the next edge rusher and a young corner - whether these guys are already on the roster or not is unknown.
  8. FYI, I think I saw Mosley wearing the green dot (communication helmet)
  9. I dont know if I would go that far, but the run stopping and pressure we were able to get yesterday DESPITE Suggs not registering a single stat puts my mind at ease that we will be able to absorb this loss.
  10. I think Lewis is a good veteran stop gap who, like you said, will provide great leadership and average skills as a FS. People forget about Brooks and his potential. Excited about his future as our FS. Some reports had him as the best FS in the 2014 draft (weak safety class albeit)...Typically takes DBs 2-3 years to acclimate to the NFL, so look for Brooks to make some noise by the end of this year. Hill + Brooks + Jimmy could be great by next season...
  11. Agreed. This is such a tired argument. Do we need WR/TE help? Yes. Do we need to mortgage our future for elite talent via FA or trade? No. We will draft a WR and/or TE that we will want to contribute and probably sign or trade for a value player. Enough of the "we need an elite pass catcher".
  12. Good re-signing. That gives us a pool of players in the front 7 of: DT: Timmy, Tyson, Williams DE: Canty, KLM, Urban, Guy, Bilukidi OLB: Upshaw, Suggs, Dum ILB: Mosley, Smith, Brown, McClellan, Orr Good mix of Youth and Vets. I would say looking at that pool you would like 1 more young talented pass rusher who can play 5 or 7 tech. Run defense should not miss a beat though.
  13. Picking up Florence or Ross would not mean Asa or Brown would leave... Competition and depth is needed in the secondary. The best players will play. If Asa and Brown are not the best available they will sit, if they are, they will play. As simple as that.
  14. Brandon Flowers would be a great pickup for the Ravens. As many have suggested, he is not a press-man corner as he lacks the size. He is best in Off-man or zone coverages, which the Ravens do play a large chunk of the time. However I would like to see the split - I am sure it is hard to find whether we play press or off man coverage more (I am sure it is off-man more), but I am sure PFF has zone vs man % breakdown...anyone have a subscription? The problem with this situation is that the Ravens will not entertain bidding wars. Flowers has all the leverage here as I am sure many teams are interested (rumored to be 10+). The Ravens will not mortgage anything to get him. I would say max is something like 3 year, $10M-$12M - and that is a very high estimate. I am not sure Flowers would take that when he was used to $5M / year range. If we do in fact get him, our secondary would be upgraded from a week ago. When all is said and done though, the staff has confidence in our young guys. They do need time to play and develop and fail at times.
  15. There are a lot of complaints based on emotional, knee jerk reactions - We should have picked a FS, we should have picked a WR, we should have traded back, etc. I personally love this pick with what was left on the board at 17. 2 reasons are below: 1. People praise Smith last year for stepping in, and allowing little fall-off after the retirement of Ray. I would have to agree with this somewhat, but I truly believe Smith is not a MIKE ILB. He was great in coverage and great at reacting and cleaning up on the backside of a play - everything you want in a MAC or WILL ILB in a 3-4 system. However, the MIKE needs to be an aggressor who is great at being the first point of attack on run plays, shed blockers and who is able to 'shoot the gaps' as either a blitzer or run stopper. Our defense lacked this last year, which is why so many teams were able to run the clock on us late in games. Mosley is a stereotypical MIKE ILB and will greatly enhance our defense IF he performs as he should. THE MIKE LB WAS A NEED THAT WAS FILLED WITH THIS PICK. A more valuable need than a nickle CB, a RT/G, or a FS in a weak FS class at 17! 2. Ok, so maybe we move back and fill another need like RT/G, WR, FS, or nickle CB as well as picking up a day 2 pick to help further fill the roster - as so many have said we should have done? Well what were people expecting us to get by moving to the end of the first? A 2nd rnd pick? A 3rd rnd pick? I would say at best we would have gotten a 4th to 5th...So you would give up an impact player in a position of need (in my opinion per #1) at 17 for a late round 1st and a 4th/5th? I do not understand this logic...especially with how the end of the 1st shaped up. My 2 cents...Also, people need to understand you do not fill need through the draft. That is how you remain at the bottom of the league for so long - Raiders, Jags, etc. You fill need through development of your own players and through proven free agents. The draft is a mystery and should be supplemental to what you have.
