A nice later round alternative to Voltz would be the Center from Temple Kyle Friend.
That's a very valid point lol. Maybe I'll try and get that fixed at some point if I can think of a good new one that applies.I like it although a category 5 cathedral is a bit confusing lol
Indeed haha. It was time for a change and I didn't think my old one reflected me well.Woah, new username
I agree for the most part. Although I would add that I believe Tunsil has better technique and pass pro ability then most if not all of the raw physical specimens listed. Also Stanley has very few flaws so it also wouldn't shock me in that order. I think they'll both be great in the long run.I've been thinking about this and I actually think Tunsil goes off the board before Stanley - not that it's a slight on Stanley (who I actually think I'd take between the two if the choice were mine), but teams seem to love raw physicality at the position. Off the top of my head, you have guys like Eric Fisher, Greg Robinson, Brandon Scherff and Ereck Flowers going over guys like Luke Joeckel, Jake Matthews and Andrus Peat. Obviously that's not to comment on who'll be the better pro between the two, but it seems that at the top end teams would prefer to try and teach their new franchise guy technique stuff than go with what they see as a lower-ceiling guy.
Though with regards to this mock, I think Stanley's more likely than Tunsil to fall to our range at 8 or wherever. And that would get me beyond excited.
The only problem I have with Stanley is he lacks power at times. But he has phenomenal technique. I just prefer Tunsil due to that power.
I also don't think Bush goes until the 5th. Just my opinion based on the current talent pool though.
I thought he was a redshirt sophomore. Also I didn't want to speculate on comps at this point but in the future I'll add them.oh yeah sure.
and you didn't count for compensatory peaks , you should add 4 more mid rounds guys)
and I thought Apple is sophomore...
I'd attribute the 9.2 mostly to the QB and lack of another viable receiving option. Peterman doesn't have the arm to vary outside of short passes unfortunately.I like the draft, I don't think it's likely that Boyd falls to the 2nd but I don't think he'll go as high as some people see him going. The DUI is a concern and he is having a down year so far only averaging 9.2 yards a catch if he fell into the mid 20s I'd try to move up for him.
I agree and I honestly think Maggitt could easily be that talent. He is lightning fast in his first step. He probably would have been at least a 3rd rounder had it not been for his injury history. If you haven't already, check him out. Also Chris Jones is no slouch in the pass rushing department but he is definitely no Bosa, Ogbah, Nassib, etc.Boyd is a great talent and I wouldn't mind Tunsil at all. My biggest gripe is no pass rusher early, a position I find key. It's true that we can always sign a free agent veteran pass rusher, but I think the team and especially Steve recognize that we need someone to take over soon for Suggs. Smith looks promising but I see his future at LOLB. Getting a veteran is great but unless he's Miller we need a young talent to groom. So I think our second round pick would be OLB under this scenario.
Broncos got it when we traded Gino. That's how we got our 2nd 4th.where is our 5 round pick?)
Yeah I figured on the Boyd thing but one can hope haha maybe a trade up into the late first would be enough for him haha. I just figured if you have a chance at that joe Thomas/Jason peters kind of player you shouldn't pass that up as much as I'd love a star pass rusher or safety.I agree a LT is a hard thing to pass up when you have such a high pick and a chance at a "elite" one, but i just see us going defense. But LT would be a great investment for the future. I applaud you for picking the not sexy pick too.
And no way Boyd is left in the second. but that would be awesome.
1st. OT Ole Miss Laremy Tunsil -
I couldn't think of a reason to justify passing up on a top LT talent that we probably won't have a shot at again for a long time. Tunsil's suspension could be considered a red flag and he needs some technique development but overall he has impressive athleticism, great power in the run game, and has easily handled some top rushers in college football to this point. This pick does beg the question, what happens to Monroe?
*Who knows how the top of the WR draft class will shake out so I took a shot in the dark here, probably a bit hopeful but oh well.*
2nd. WR Pitt Tyler Boyd -
Boyd has a serious red flag for his DUI so maybe he falls here as Josh Doctson rises. Boyd is one of the most polished receivers in terms of route running and creating separation. He is silky smooth in his movements. His hands and body control are phenomenal, if you watch him play at Pitt he makes you say "wow how did he come up with that?" on a regular basis. He's not the fastest or strongest but he is definitely above average athletically which to go along with his polish makes him a great compliment for Perriman.
3rd. CB Ohio State Eli Apple -
We need a solid corner opposite Jimmy Smith (Also Jimmy needs to get it together) but Apple should fill that role nicely at about 6'1" he is a bit of a larger corner in terms of height. This should allow him to contend better with taller receivers. He is great in man coverage and sticks right in his man's pocket. He is decent in press coverage but has the size and strength to improve. He has very good ball skills. He needs to improve his tackling. It seems like he as a tendency to get a bit complacent if whoever he is covering isn't targeted for a while. Admittedly, I did not see much of him in zone but between the solid instincts and plus athleticism I would assume he is at least passable in that department.
4th. DT/DE Mississippi State Chris Jones -
Jones should help bolster our pass rush a bit if he falls to us here. He is a big man that eats up a lot of blocks. He has some decent pass rushing skills thanks to his power but he is usually double teamed. On a line with Brandon Williams and Jernigan he should be able to put up about a handful of sacks a year. He is phenomenal as a run stopper as well. He's also been known to bat down the occasional pass.
4th. RB Pitt James Conner -
At 6'3 250 (and he is every bit of that) Conner is a powerful runner. He breaks tackle after tackle after tackle. The most surprising part of his game is that he actual has enough speed for the occasional home run. One of his most impressive games last year came against Duke who were one of the best tackling teams in the country and the best in the ACC and he made their tackle attempts look feeble. He runs too high, he needs to lower his pad level but that is fairly correctable. He has a bit more wiggle than people give him credit for but he is definitely not as quick and agile as Derrick Henry although I do think he is a more powerful runner. He has one of the best stiff arms I've ever seen. He is a very good pass protector thanks in part to his size. His ability in the passing game is a big unknown as he was only targeted about 10 times or so.
5th. We ain't got one.
6th. OLB Tennessee Curt Maggitt -
Solid size for the position. Good athlete, not great. He is a very good pass rusher and general playmaker. He has a sizable red flag due to his injury history but in the 6th you look past that for a good pass rusher. He is a bit weak in the run game and needs to work on setting the edge. He is capable dropping into coverage against your average college TE or occasional RB.
7th. We don't have one.
Notes: I would love it if we traded a pick or two from future years and snagged FS Karl Joseph in the 3rd - 5th.
Let me know what you think!
Definitely should of gone CB or Safety earlier and I'm not quite sure where Matakevich would fit on D.
I really liked what I've seen of Denver Kirkland out of Arkansas. I think he could be solid lineman in the 3rd or so. Wouldn't hurt to pick someone like him up assuming we don't re-sign KO and Urschel doesn't fill in as well as we all hope.
Agree 100%if we decided to mortgage the future to land both bosa and ramsey... id be ok with it.
hell if we mortgaged the future for ramsey + bosa/nkemdiche/stanley id be ok with it. idc if we go another 4 years without a first round pick, its worth it

Because he doesn't have a super catchy nickname like the Boydmobile or treadwell treadmill lol.Why isn't Doctson in the title of this thread, BTW?
That's a pretty fair evaluation. But I am excited about the rest of the year to watch them both.I just see Stanley as having near flawless technique as a pass protector while Tunsil has some inconsistencies in that area. I like both a ton, but I just happen to have Stanley rated higher. There's still plenty of time to change my mind though and I'm looking forward to seeing Tunsil over the rest of the season. I think I also might have more comfort with Stanley because there's so much more available from him. I think whatever teams these two will both be very happy.
I agree with Treadwell being on the outside and I wouldn't be shocked if he passed Boyd due to Boyd's DUI.I'm not at all surprised. He's been brilliant. I think it's definitely close between him, Boyd and Treadwell; however, I personally think it's between Boyd and him with Treadwell outside.
I honestly don't understand why everyone has Stanley higher than Tunsil on the forums here. At worst I see them as on even ground.
I don't know about Boyd but I know Conner is a big steelers fan so he probably hates the Ravens from a fan standpoint.i wonder if tyler boyd grew up hating the ravens. i like boyd though
i also like james conner from pitt maybe 2017 we can get him when he's healed up and healthy
I think it's all the more impressive he's been working with awful QB's. But I agree Doctson looks really good.Yeah. It was an exaggeration to say that Boyd carries that team. I'll be thrilled with him if we took him. I think I agree with most now that he's the best WR in this class with Treadwell behind him. I think Doctson may be able to challenge him if he keeps it up
I doubt he comes out this year honestly. He's still only 20 and with narduzzi leading the team in a great direction I think he stays. We could probably get him in the 2nd round. I like Doctson but I would rather have Boyd or Coleman over him. If Boyd slips to the 2nd round then I think he would be a great fit for us, he is an excellent route runner and has good hands.
Another Pitt prospect I like for us would be James Conner. Assuming he recovers from his season ending injury what would you guys think of him in the 4th round? If healthy I would have had him as a low 2nd or high 3rd pick but he could slip due to his injury. He would replace Taliaferro as our big back
Conner and Ollison aren't bad at all. Especially Conner but he's out for the year. But indeed.Boyd is the only player on offense worth a damn on Pitt. Lol, he's really their only weapon. Maybe that's an exaggeration, but I came away impressed.
I know this thread is about Treadwell and Boyd, but I also caught some of Doctson and that guy is good! He just keeps impressing me every time I watch him. I like this guy a lot!
I'll take Boyd no question. He's just so polished. He gets great separation, rarely drops passes, great body control, he's a yac/rac machine. Heck, he even produced with voytik who was garbage.
