  1. Most likely, you don't get a player like Jefferson for cheap. In other news, Baltimore eschews a #1 receiver for another check-down target for Flacco in Woodhead. Looks to be a good offense consisting of constant 3-and-outs with garbage passes of 2 and 3 yards. \Sarcasm Who knows, maybe they'll draft a quality receiver instead. We all know Ozzie is amazing at the draft and his receiver drafts are always top notch. /sarcasm Be prepped for lots of drops, and defenses playing press coverage against a team with no true #1 receiver... or real threat in the slot for that matter. Somebody phone Wes Welker, see if he still wants to play.
  2. well this offseason it's very clear what must be done. with the exception of a select few (yanda, staley, juszczyk, smith sr.[in the unlikely event he doesn't retire]) fire (or trade) the entire offense. Yep, Flacco included. That whole elite argument for him is out the window.. with his cap hit, and his barely serviceable regular season performance.. he's a liability. Time to rebuild the offense. Actually the defense can use a facelift too. Use the top pick on CB replacement for Mr. Fragile or an edge rusher because Suggs is on his way out (if not this year, very soon) and Dumerville won't be far behind. oh, time for an OC that doesn't suck too.
  3. We are lucky to have the perfect Captain steering the ship in John Harbaugh. We just need patience! He can only do so much with what's been provided him. Even the great ones have to have the horses and the FO has failed to deliver in that dept. agreed. time to point the finger at the front office The FO didn't make him throw off his back foot, overthrow guys, or trip over his own feet. Joe has regressed in his mechanics and decision-making since Kubiak left. You can say he doesn't have all-pro players around him at every position, but no QB does. The only legitimate excuse I can think of is the offensive scheme and coaching, both of which ultimately fall on Harbs. maybe so, but how many first billet (not alt's when someone was a no show) pro-bowlers have been drafted by the Ravens the last decade? I bet you can count them on one hand. There is a depravity of young talent on the team and that's squarely on the front office. Harbaugh may have a little say, but it's mostly Newsome and the scouting team. There needs to be a house cleaning, if Harbaugh goes at the end of the year, there should be a complete house cleaning, which includes 75% of the players including every player over 30 that Baltimore isn't forced to keep due to contract restrictions and most of the front office..
  4. Harbaugh is the problem, the Ravens need to clean house. he's not the whole problem.. look at the draft picks Baltimore has picked up in the last 10 years.. how many pro-bowlers are in there? Not very many huh? guess whoever is making the draft choices is pretty bad at their job. I think bscotti needs to fire everyone not named biscotti and start over.
  5. Hate to say it, but I kind of hope the team does go 4-12. Hopefully it will show the front office that a full rebuild is needed and to quit trying to "patch up" a broken-beyond-repair team that lost too much post 2012. It's time to let go of the past, strip the team down, free up cap space by letting the 30+ year old vets walk (Flacco and Yanda being the only exceptions). Time to draft like it's 1996, do a bit of plunging on high end targets coming out of rookie deals.. the team cannot sustain the route it is taking. It's an obvious downward spiral and it's only gonna get worse before it gets better. Do something while Flacco has a few good years left. Many top QB's can play into their 40, Flacco is not a top QB. He may do well post season but he has trouble getting there and every year older he gets, the weaker his arm will be until the point where his primary strength now will be only "middling". A rebuild takes at least 2-3 years, he should still be good until then, but it has to start as soon as this season ends, or by the time the realization finally comes to Oz and co, and things get accomplished it may be too late and they will be adding a QB to the draft list.
  6. saw this coming.. at this point this is a 4-12 team at best. the way this team is playing the only team it can beat on the schedule this year that is left is cleveland. Trestman has needed to go since last year, i keep saying he's cam cameron 2.0 and so far he has only proved me right. may as well let it ride this year, but after this, baltimore has no excuse to not completely clean house, from the head coach, down. if it's older than 32, time to go. time for a full rebuild, ozzie's SB recovery plan has failed.
  7. 8-8 is awful optimistic, 6-10 is at this point.. that's if they beat the jets and washington. if not, pretty much everyone else is better than oakland on the schedule and it's very likely that the only other win achieved will be against the browns.. sadly that is the more likely scenario at this point. on the bright side of that we would get another top 10 pick and hopefully marc trestman will be applying at his local mcdonalds for a job cause he is pretty bad at offensive football. said it last year and will say it again, the coming of marc trestman was the 2nd coming of cam cameron. apparently the managemnt didn't watch and tapes of the terrible chicago offense when he was coach.
  8. Joe has never had this many high grade weapons. If he can't break the "elite" argument this year, he never will.
  9. no, but this isn't the 1st time this type of injury has shown itself in his football career. it's known that every time you injure the same area, it becomes more prone to injury. not only that, he went on IR for an injury anyone else would have been out for 2-3 weeks on. He's a long term injury risk. It would be foolish to bet any amount of bank on him. Like i said, Aiken is a more reliable #2 at this point. perriman should be #3 until he proves he deserves the #2 spot
  10. top priority in the draft just became Osemele's replacement or we can welcome back 2013 all over again. And how does Kamar Aiken not get put in with smith, forsett and co? he was the top receiver at the end of last season and pulled off clutch plays consistently. i'd rank him higher than perriman at this point. he's proven he deserves a shot at #2 at the least. perriman is #3 at best because he is unknown, inexperienced and as far as we know... injury prone.
  11. laughed at the last line of the article.. the only way the North can be more competitive is if the Browns finally did the right thing, quit trying to pretend they are a pro football team, and sold the franchise to another owner who relocates it anywhere but the "City of Fail". Also helps if the Bengals finally realized that they need a new, 2nd head coach to take over for Lewis after the regular season ends.. then they may actually get out of the 1st playoff game for once.
  12. heh, after what the Bengal's pulled last night, i don't think you will have to worry bout them for a while. considering there's a high chance that every coach but the DC will be leaving for better jobs or in Lewis' case.. fired. that organization will be in turmoil for years after last night.
  13. probably gonna get negg-ed but honestly, wish Baltimore would have lost.. sure they stuck it to Pittsburgh but now they are out of the top 5 draft positions.. which means most likely another losing season next year. a Baltimore loss would have done 2 decent things (one many would hate but it helps the division) 1. gave Baltimore the #3 pick, and 2. most likely bring the Lombardi back to the AFC north (because we all know Cincy is a 1 nd done) Pittsburgh had the ability to go all the way and the highest chance of killing off yet another Superbowl title for the New England Cheaters.
  14. Doesn't matter how much of a monster game Givens has, the defense will find a way to ensure the loss.
  15. i think one of the "major changes" is getting a QB that's good in the first 16 games so flacco can do his thing in the post-season.. you know.. the only time he is actually good.
  16. the defense blew the game.. again.. pure and simple.. here's and idea.. pagano is probably done coaching after the season so no getting him back.. but Rob Ryan just got canned from NO.. mostly due to issues he had little control over (when you ask a DC to throw away half his plays due to wanting simplicity.. what do you expect?) he has the pedegree to make a top defense out of baltimore again if allowed to do his thing.. if there were a better replacement for pees' passive sissy style, i don't see it.
  17. well at least we will probably have the top pick next year (if we can't beat the jags, we can't beat anyone.. 2-14 is the most probable reality here) also, we should have a rather new coaching staff next year since this one will be producing the worst season in Baltimore history. hopefully flacco takes the drastic pay cut he is due (like it or not he is a bottom 10 QB stat-wise in regular season) or we pick up a QB in the draft that can play well the 1st 16 games as well as the play-offs. also.. someone get on the phone with Pagano.. we need him back
  18. i had to see perriman's name.. if there were a player that would be good trade stock for a viable reciever.. he would be it. he's injury prone and the raven's don't need that. this is a draft bust. a sprain doesn't take this long to heal. if smith comes back, he needs a viable #2 to take some of the pressure off. perriman isn't going to be it..
  19. i'm kind of hoping arizona with the power offense puts up an NFL record on our defense.. maybe we can finally get some people fired then
  20. i see fluff... instead berating the worst team in football right now and headhunting fixes.. they print fluff.. no wonder baltimore is 1 and 5. if i were biscotti i would be back-charging the players and coaches for lost ticket sales he suffered this year because of their shoddy play. he does this kind of thing to the temps in his company (when they break things because of carelessness or poor performance), why not do it to the football team?
  21. i feel it's time to get on the phone with the local pee-wee league teams to look for talent.. they could have played better.. the offense looks identical to the Cruddy Chicago Bears of last year and the defense can't stop a 12 year old with a gimp. seriously baltimore needs to play for the draft at this point. harass the division, ruin their day.. but ultimately play for the top pick in 2016 and free up cap space to buy a receiving corps. smith is retiring, and not only will we not have a viable #1.. we won't have a viable #2-6 either. draft all defense.. honestly, i would can pees and trestman. beg pagano to come back when he inevitably get canned from the colts and while some may hate me for this.. offer brian billick money to come back as the OC.. he may e a bad head coach, but he knows how the ravens' offense is supposed to work like no other. if you let him focu on he play calling only i think he could actually get the offense back on track. it's obvious he still has love for the ravens and if offered the right price, he may do it.
  22. i think searching for the #1 pick in the 2016 draft. think that's probably the best route at this point.. it would take a miracle for this team to have an above .500 record in it's current state. my fear is that in his attempt to circumvent the years after the 2000 SB win, ozzie has inadvertantly caused them to return. which means it's gonna be a long 4-7 years of rebuilding before this team returns to a position of any kind of real strength. if the team invests heavily in the defense in 2016 (in the draft), frees up as much cap space as possible, and picks up a few WR's in FA (because the worst thing baltimore could ever do is draft a WR.. every one so far has been mediocre-bad) the damage control may be enough to show a possible return in 2016. as far as i am concerned, 2015 is already in the books.. and as much as i would love to see this team i root for win. at this time i think a very bad season may be for the best in the long run.
  23. time to start playing for the 2016 draft.. get a high pick, try to draft a Suggs replacement.. and whatever you do.. DO NOT DRAFT A WR. open some cap space and buy a Smith Sr. replacement.. and a #2 while you are at it.. don't fire Pees until the end of the season.. pretty sure the way the Colts are playing that we may be able to get Pagano back for next year. seriously.. this team is bad, very bad. nothing done now can salvage this year. it's time to start building for next year early.
  24. this would be a good time for Ozzy to give Ed Reed a call about possibly returning as a position coach. the team needs it's motivation back.. with Suggs out, Lewis a commentator, Reed is the only Ravens Legend left that could make an impact on the defense and turn it around.. the Raiders are terrible and the fear that this team could be one of the bottom performers in the NFL this year is very, very real. I love this team but Ozzy should have known better than to try and draft a receiver.. Baltimore has never drafted a true #1 wideout it's entire existence. hopefully next year when Rice no longer effects the cap Baltimore can hit free agency hard to replace Smith and get us a legit #2 as well. I can't help but feel this year is already in the books with the absolutely terrible play shown in these first 2 games.
  25. if this performance is any indication, this will be the worst record in the harbaugh era and a sorely under .500 performance. the only reason our offense did so well was that their secondary was garbage.. if you put both perfomances together you can see this team is reflective of the 2002-2006 roster.. defense is pretty good, and the offense is meh- bad at best. i am an avid baltimore fan but even the optimist in me can't see this team getting past a 4-12 season in this state. we have no field stretcher and if/when perriman comes back he'll be so raw that he'll be a non-factor. looking at the schedule, only the Jaguars and Browns are on par for bad with the Raiders. if we can't beat Oakland.. this year is practically already in the books. if there is one plus side to this, it's that ozzy will have a top 10 draft pick for the 1st time in near a decade... hopefully they use it on something other than a receiver, free up some cap space, and look to free agency to fill that void.. it's a well known fact Home-grown Baltimore receivers don't fair very well.
